Hello, MMM. I am Alekta, Aresian 's fiancé. I personally did not play Megaman (besides trying out the original series once a long time ago) pre-Aresian, but the game and the community have both been a part of his life, and I am interested in trying it out. Currently he suggests I try Megaman Zero first, (as he knows my gaming style and thinks it might appeal to me more to start off with), and I will play it when he gives me the GBA.  >:(

Anyway, I thought I would join up here and learn more about Megaman games from people who play them and to stalk Aresian's posts since he decided to return here.

Yes. MMX for sure. And if you do try MegaMan Zero, go for MMZ2 or 3, the first game can be a bit slow.

Yeeeah, MMZ was the easiest one available without whipping out the bells and whistles to get her to play MM2. And well... the platforming is easier in MMZ and MMX than MM Classic... she's not much of a platformer.

Which is fine of course, but I wanted her to give it a shot. So we'll see how it goes. I'll get MHX for my PSP so she can try that too.

Push comes to shove, I'll whip out the old systems.

Hm, thanks for the tips guys, I'll get Aresian on some other games.

Played a little MMZ, I find it difficult to say the least. (Ares had to defeat the first boss for me after I died twice in the for level, owch)
I played a little Megaman Powered Up before, actually I grew to enjoy the level editor more than anything.

That is the best way to become knowledgeable yes it is.

I think you should try Mega Man Legends if you're not all that into platforming.  Although it sort of is one in some way there's not really any difficult jumping around.

Played it. Hated the gameplay, but then I suck a platforming in general so I can't assume it is only because it was the game's fault. (I've been stalking the forum and seen bits about the Zero series being unforgiving.)

Currently thinking I'll see about either getting cheats, getting another game from that series or another, or watching some let's plays, since I am still interested in learning more about the Megaman story even if I suck at the games.

If you want Megaman story, do NOT rely on Zero.
I liked the story up until X5 pretty well, then they started grabbing at straws for interesting stuff.
EXE has a decent story, and a TV show.
Legends is High Tier for actual story (so I hear, never owned either of them)

Legends' story is pretty whimsical but well-presented. I don't know about L2.

It gets a bit deeper into the myths of the world, but shares the same generally whimsical atmosphere as the first game while retaining some of the dark elements.

Classic's story is generally flawless.

X's is really good through X4.  X5 is very suspect and the point it all more or less explodes into a big fat pile of dog #####.

Exe is god tier through 3.  4 and 5 are cancer incarnate, and 6 is on par with the awful anime series.  Oh yes, the anime adaptation of ANY of the exe games is all awful.  Super Mario Bros the movie awful.

Legends is god tier (so far, looks nervously at 3).

Zero is, in it's ENTIRETY, nothing BUT soul cancer, keep a safe distance or you'll smell worse than Xero after he cleans out the chao kennels.  A week after wolves got into it.

ZX makes Zero's story look as good as Classic.  Stop and think about that for a moment.  THAT'S HOW BAD ZX IS.

Star Force is everything that was bad about exe, repackaged free of anything good.  So rather #####ty I guess.

Keep in mind there is still lots of great H to be found in ALL of our different series though, so it's not ALL bad.  Just mostly.  I hope this has been helpful.
