The execution was absolutely terrible, though.

Yes, it was made well, but it wasn't pulled off well, and, well, the idea was only "a little clever" in the first place.

MadTV isn't all bad, it was good at the start and near the end. But you're right, because this was an episode from the extremely mediocre middle years.

We were talking about Andy Richter Controls The Universe earlier, so when I saw it on DVD for cheap a few days ago, I bought it.

I haven't seen it since it was on TV, I think I was in middle school back then.

It's even funnier than I remembered. This is top-notch writing.

I just finished an episode where Conan guest-starred that I'd never seen before.
