Edge has said what I've been trying to say.

Now... I was trying to post GIFs of squirrels kicking fake squirrels but that's not working for some reason.

Edit: K... wut.

Well I don't know if Rosa Parks is in Canada's text books...

No, if only because you don't need a text book to know who Rosa Parks was.

I don't care who you are, if you're from North America excluding Mexico (I guess) and you don't know who Rosa Parks was it's YOUR fault and I don't respect that. You don't have to even LIKE history. Like, you might as well just decide to be stupid.

Anyway I really can't remember having a "History" class until grade ten, and that was SPECIFICALLY a Canadian History class (it was awesome though I didn't like it at first).

But I never said History is not important.

That's exactly what you said. You said that knowing history or not knowing history would make absolutely no difference, which is saying it has no significance, i.e. unimportant. Or in your words; Irrelevant. Which, I have to say, sounded incredibly douchey. No offense to you as a person but yeah it would make a difference if you didn't know anything about the holocaust, and holding on the immutable laws of physics that stop anything from being wholly impossible, I have to say it's impossible that your life would be the same if you had zero knowledge of Earth's history.

I think you're a good guy and everything, but I feel I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn't mention that that whole post put me in a bad mood and I think it was totally ignorant and actually a bit conceded, albeit unintentionally.

But I'm going to leave it there because I think going further will keep me from my dinner for a hot minute longer and I really don't know what I should say to you about it that wouldn't end in a tl;dr response.

History is boring.

You're doomed to repeat it if you know what it is or not.

And JC, if it's any consolation, I've spent the last few years studying international history for school, and I've learned all sorts of stuff. That said: having gone from uneducated to relatively informed, I don't feel as though my life as really been enriched in any significant way. It's good stuff to know in terms of culture, but it has absolutely zero practical value to the average person.

Fair statements, and sure an intimate knowledge of the world's history has no practical value to anyone who isn't that field, but a general level of assumed knowledge in the are is important for anyone who wants to live in, um, society. I don't expect everyone to know every name or date but to actually know nothing, and to aspire to know nothing, is ridiculous and gets you exactly nowhere. But I'm sure you know that, I'm clearly just speaking generally.

Pop-culture and history start to blur at certain key points.
Mostly the big key points.

No you're fine. I've said stupid stuff before, so forgive and forget.

But one last comment I want to make. Spoiler tagged so we can get back on topic:
History is boring.

You're doomed to repeat it if you know what it is or not.

Yeah, that's fair. Mike practically said why you should know History. Sure, there may be some very irrelevant things in history that happened, but there's going to be a scenario where you'll be interacting socially, watching something, doing something, whatever... and knowing the basic background of it might be important. Naturally, you wouldn't go buy a house without knowing how it was built, for example.

Although nobody mentioned it: as for actually LIKING History, I suppose it's just a taste. I love it. It's almost like a big story book or film transcript to me. Others say it's absolute torture and boring.
And that's the most awesome squirrel I've ever seen.

If flipped about a horizontal axis.

I was thinking more in terms of rotation by 180°, which would then require a flip about the vertical axis.

Rotated 180°, yes. An inversion, though, is a mirroring around the secondary diagonal, so I don't know what you're talking about!

Inversion doesn't have to be about a specific axis, and doesn't imply anything beyond a reversal.

I realized shortly after posting that "inversed" in the context I used it was redundant, but I assumed what I meant was clear enough, so I left (and will leave) it.

What's this about not watching TV? This wasn't a TV event. It's not like they televised it like a Showtime boxing match between Chris Brown and Rihanna.

It was just pop-culture news is all.

I dislike that the life of a celebrity is cash for #####ty journalism. I don't read or watch any kind of celebrity gossip.

Also bear in mind that even if this is everywhere on the internet, I'm not on the internet much either. Hence, rock. I'm not excusing myself; I don't look much at the news or anything, but right now I'm okay with that.

Believe me, I hate that celeb-news Entertainment Tonight tabloid bull##### just as much as the next guy - but I don't ignore it. I mean, I try to be aware of all the pointless ##### going on around me. And yes, it's all pointless and it's destroying our culture, but I like to be in the know if it's big enough!

I'm not talking about ##### like "WHO IS BRAD PITT HOLDING HANDS WITH OHMYGOD", I'm talking about stuff like "MAYBE LADA GAGA HAS A ##### YOU GUYS?"

Anything I can make a joke out of, really. Or notice a joke of on Comcast's digital menu.

Yeah, I don't watch TV, news, and other media things as I've mentioned before. Similar to statements above, it's either too negative or just absolutely pointless to know about. It's like someone is getting shot, raped, or murdered in some way and the news has to report it.

With that said, I only check a few websites and media articles, and I'm okay with that.
