If you haven't heard anything about this virus/trojan/whatever, there's an article here; http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5gMlxpbYtSH9TQfiSkURqN0qzE6Zw

First off, no I did not fall for this. It is clearly bull##### when it tries to send itself to you. I got the message on my Mac once, could tell it was BS, and went on with my life.

But my mother did fall for it, on our PC which is already pretty crap anyway. She got it last night and didn't bother telling me until tonight (which I do NOT appreciate since I was up and could have been alerted of this). So we have the virus on her account, and I think I actually accidentally let it bleed onto my account when I was checking it out.

I want to try and hit an old system restore point (and I probably don't have any anyway) but I don't think any of the other two accounts actually have administrative privileges. Also, my anti-virus on that computer is a piece of trash that hasn't been right since we bought the damn thing.

That whole computer pisses me off and is a bitch to work with when a trokan isn't trying to ##### me, and it's also in my real bedroom (I don't actually sleep in there anymore), which is the warmest room in the house when there isn't any appliances running, so I'd like to spend as little time as possible trying to take care of this. And there's little chance I'm gonna bother taking in the computer again since last time I did that they totally #####ed it over for weird ##### like my sound drivers (which are not fixable at all) and other jargon.

If anyone knows a way to get rid of this thing, give me a shout. Luckily, it's not the computer I use or even care about but it is very #####ing annoying.

I'm just. So damn pissed off right now.

System Restore is my favorite anti-virus tool. I actually un-install all that crap anti-virus stuff like Norton and AdAware and Spyware that Best Buy installs on my computer and everyone else's. It just slows it down and I'm not stupid enough to get viruses, anyway.

And when I get something minor, System Restore works. Always. So try that. It has like default-restoration points every month or two, so you're guaranteed something.

I can't really hit a system restore since I haven't saves a restore point in like years, and the computer is slower than Slugkid with all this ##### going on.

You can ask for assistance here, most people who ask for help on this board gets their problems taken care of. This was how I got malware removed from my computer.

I like "solo antivirus"

The #####er even deletes worms... 30 day free trial, extended use, without updates, still for free... One can use it and toss it when done if they really need.

I haven't tried working with the other computer again yet, I'm far too busy with M&C and am finally taking a bit of time to relax tonight (though I should NOT), but Wind's post was funny enough to make me post here again. I'll try your guys suggestions maybe, I can't really get an antivirus right now as the computer will be far too slow, but it will help later on.

Facebook makes sense for people to use, and I don't see any reasons why most students at least shouldn't have a Facebook.

Myspace, on the other hand, I can totally understand people not using. Nobody should ever need to have a Myspace, and it's very forgivable if someone doesn't.

I have a Facebook and a Myspace...is that like a paradox? Does the good cancel out the bad or the other way around? Do they cancel each other out so really I'm left with nothing? I must know!!!!

No.

MySpace is just infested with garbage. I had to do a little thing in Web Design describing the top 10 worst websites. MySpace is pretty high up there, if not #1.

The only thing I can foresee ever forgiving the use of MySpace for is for pretty unkown bands to use. I find that's good and makes sense. Otherwise... Not so much.

Man, anytime I'm on the net and it's like "Hey, download this ##### otherwise you can't view this movie etc."  I get very suspicious. I can see why its causing so much trouble though, implant it into a site where there are so many people and many of whom are of a younger age that'll download anything and all of a sudden you've got a epidemic.

For bands that aren't on a known label or get any radio play to use so people can actually hear their music.

Which is what Myspace was originally created for and should have stayed that way.

Mm no. MySpace was originally created as the social networking abyss that it's famous for as a ripoff of Friendster.
