As a massive fan of stand-up comedy, I'm very saddened to hear this. George Carlin was one of my favorites, and today, June 22nd, he passed away due to heart failure.

You were a great inspiration to me, and you made a huge impact on the world of comedy. Definitely one of my favorites.

Sucks, man. You came a real #####ing long way.

Rest in peace, George.

And here's a gift for those who haven't witnessed his comedy. Take some time to watch, if only out of respect.

EDIT:
And now, today, on August 9th, another comedian has died. Say goodbye to Bernie Mac. Dead at the age of 50. Holy shmoley.

EDIT2:
And now, today, on August 10th, another celebrity has died. Say goodbye this time to Isaac Hayes, famous musician and best-known to us younger folks as the voice of Chef on South Park. He was 65. Ugh. Link.

Yeah, I just heard about this too.

He was 71, but could have lived another 15 years.

It's a damn shame.

He probably died laughing his ass off, laughing that it had finally happened, probably died with his middle finger raised in one final act of defiance.

He at least had that cocky grin on his face, I promise you that.

Well, it's official now. All my favorite comedians are dead.

And I'm willing to bet they're all still laughing at the sad state of things.

Though it IS sad that they're no longer around to point those things out.

Yeah I heard that on my mom's alarm radio this morning while I was 3/4 asleep so I thought I'd dreamed it until this afternoon.

Sad stuff, but that's how it goes. At least it wasn't violent or anything.

Yeah, heart attacks aren't violent at all.

Well, he was going to go at some point. Still, he was only as old as my granpa.
Great man, great man. Left his impact on many lives.

Hopefully we all laughed a lot and learned a little about the world from him.

I remember it being a heart attack.
May have heard wrong, though...

... but that doesn't answer the question.
*reads news* It was failure. So right, peaceful.

The magic of Carlin is that not only was he funny, but he was truly insightful.

And yes, heart failure was what I read.

I remember reading an article early this year from October of last year.

Because my memory is rough sometimes, I don't remember the quote verbatum, But it addressed the thought that George Carlin was "angry at the world."

He stated something to the matter of "I'm not angry, Just observant. I don't know why more people aren't. Sure, the things I base my jokes on bother me, but what's worse is the lack of response to those things."

He was one of the most influential men in America, as far as I'm concerned. I just hope the feeling that he passed to all of us isn't forgotten any time soon.

Sucks that he died; his stuff from the 60s and 70s is classic. Nothing beats Al Sleet, the Hippy-Dippy Weatherman "And tonight we'll be getting a Canadian low, which is not to be confused with a Mexican high." "It's 70 degrees over at the airport, which is stupid, 'cause I don't know anybody that lives at the airport." lol. Good stuff.

Bernie Mac, in my opinion, died too young. This is sad news.

I didn't mark him as a favorite comedian though. He was alright.

But after hearing this, it made me realized that it'd really suck if Frank Caliendo died. He's one of my favorites I guess...

Bernie Mac was a little younger than my mom is.

George Carlin was older, so his death wasn't as unexpected (though still a great loss), but it's always weird to have someone so familiar die.

Pneumonia is apparently one of the most peaceful ways to die, because your lungs are essentially flooded, and you don't have much pain.

Frank Caliendo isn't so much funny as he is talented. Great impressions are already funny, and he doesn't throw much more to the table than that... but he DOES do great impressions. Especially John Madden and Bush. Plus, he's got, like, an endless supply, and those Scooby Doo/Shaggy bits he does are awesome.

Anyway, Bernie Mac was a pretty good comedian, but I never really watched him specifically. George Carlin was personal to me because he's one of my favorites, and Bernie Mac is personal because he's just one year older than both my parents.

Another day, another death. Today, Isaac Hayes died. You all probably know him as the voice of Chef on South Park, as I do.
First Chef dies, now Isaac. Yuck.

That's exactly what I thought... "What? First Chef and now his voice actor?"

I just saw this on the news about 20 minutes ago. Too many deaths.
