That currently makes it an okay priced Blu Ray player that does a crap ton more than play Blu Ray discs.

It costs $100 more than other Blu Ray players.

http://www.google.com/products?q=blu%20ray%20player&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wf

Seriously.

Now I really want one.

I mean, yeah, they have always been overpriced and that's made me not even THINK about it, but I've always liked them....
Nice menus and much snappier performance than the 360.

I'm still against Blu-Ray. It's super-pretty and extremely impressive, but I do most of my DVD-watching on portable DVD-players.

5 years from now, when they're more fully integrated into society and the prices are way lowered, I'll bite.

But right now I am not a fan. It's just not enough of an upgrade from DVD's.

When people say that the PS3 doesn't have any strong exclusives outside of MGS4, all they're really doing is showing off how little they know.

If I can transfer my files onto it's HDD, I may trade mine in and get a slim.

I hate how dusty and fingerprinty my PS3 is. Matte finishes hide the stuff a lot more.

It LOOKS a lot better than the phat, costs less and there are a small hand full of games I'd probably play on it if I actually had one.  Of course, without an HDTV, it's still a moot point.   I have a 32 incher and I'm not dropping $1500 for a smaller TV just for HD.

What?

Try like 400.
Or use a computer monitor with an HDMI to DVI cord. It's the same signal. You'll just need an external sound source.

There's nothing whatsoever that I've even vaguely considered buying for it since MGS4.

And I have yet to see a Blu Ray movie.

PS3 is the biggest waste of money in my entire history of purchases, but it is home to the most breathtaking game I've ever played, Metal Gear Solid 4.

At the top of my head, I want to play MGS4 and Little Big Planet.

There's more, but the list for the 360 is much larger anyway.

Little Big Planet is trash.

GTi Club is a good download, cos it has minis in it.

Other than that, I can't even recommend the PS3 as a shelf, since it's very bendy.

I enjoyed Little Big Planet quite a bit.
There's plenty of trash to sort through on the user created levels, but once you learn how to find the good ones, there's some pretty impressively designed levels out there.

Just about anything Pixel Junk has put out has been made of win

Infamous was a blast. It was significantly more fun to be evil, since being good meant actively avoiding shooting pedestrians caught in the middle of erupting battles.

Disgaea 3 was pure micromanaging bliss. I've loved every Disgaea game so far, and this one has had the most content by far.

Fat Princess is really fun. Headsets are a must, but when everyone has one the game is a complete riot.

Anything by That Game Company is awesome to just zone out to.

MGS4 is everything that the final chapter of that tale should have been.

Valkyria Chronicles was a complete sleeper hit. I don't really care for RTS's but I still throughly enjoyed it.

Siren: Blood Curse is the only proper survival horror game I've played this generation.

Ratchet and Clank Future is 3-D adventure platforming at it's best, and is the standard by which I judge other games of the genre.

None of this is including games that are slated to come out that I'm looking forward to, since I can't have an opinion about something I haven't played. That said, I can think of at least eight more titles that I suspect I'll be adding to that list in the next six months.

I wasn't so much agreeing with Sano on the MGS4 part (haven't played, never finished MGS3 anyway), but more that the only game I've wanted to play that was PS3 exclusive was Little Bit Planet. It's just too much for me, since I only care about the one game. And I'd have to rent Infamous.

GTi Club is a good download, cos it has minis in it.

I like how you wrote it "cos", as if it didn't already sound European, talkin' 'bout Minis.

Out of Edge's list, I only recognize MGS4, Little Big Planet, Infamous, Disgaea, and Rachet & Clank.

I played Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness on the PSP. It was my first try at playing a Disgaea game. It's a nice concept, but absolutely BORING because I wasn't going anywhere. It takes way too long to level up, thus whatever fun you've achieved in the game is revoked.

Also played my first Rachet & Clank recently on the PSP. I tried to like it, but I just gave up. It's hopeless.

I saw Annie play Infamous in Gamestop, and that absolutely looks superb. I so want to play that.

It's unfair to judge the console iterations of Ratchet and Clank based on their PSP incarnations.

And yes, Disgaea is an acquired taste. Leveling becomes significantly easier when you learn how to correctly utilize the systems in the game, and even easier still once you break the level 1,000 barrier. The primary reason I enjoy them so much is because there is just an insane amount of content and nifty little easter eggs to discover.

I played Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando on the PS2, and I loved it, but never beat it.

I tried the PSP one, got a bit into the beginning, and quit. Wasn't really that great.

I see Component inputs on the back.
It's a newer CRT.

Also, I can't find any for 400, but 32" 1080p TVs can be found for $500.

I just bought a 42" HDTV for $600 for my apartment. You can probably find a 32" somewhere around $400 very easily.

So. Now with the pricecut being active and people buying PS3 Slims 'n all: has anyone gotten one? Or could you be waiting for one of the nice bundles?

I for one already have a PS3, and I've had it since 2007 and I'm pretty happy with it. I didn't buy it because I'm a Sony geek, but it looks better next to my flatscreenie thing, and one out of two xbox 360s breaks down (At least in the Netherlands they get a RROD 50% of the time). My brother has a 360, and he had to return it to Microsoft 3 times now to get the thing fixed. Oh yea, the d-pad of the 360 is pretty bad, too. Especially when playing SF IV.

I don't use it enough to have an opinion but I want none of this PS3 stuff, my 360 was pricey enough for me in this realm.

For me, the best D-Pad in years is not surprisingly the Wii's Classic Controller. That whole pad is great, actually. It really MADE MM9 for me.

Don't feel bad about it, as long as you didn't get it on the 360. The controller for the 360 and Mega Man do NOT mix.

Besides, Abe got it for the PS3 also, so you're not alone.
