Yesterday at 3:30 PST, my grandmother passed on.

She was an amazing woman, and largely my role model growing up.

She went peacefully of congestive heart failure. She was 93.

I'm a little melancholy, but I'm happy to have known her as well as I did, and glad she's no longer confined to that body.

All in all, it's a very calm feeling.

I was debating on whether or not to even post this here, but in the end I figured... why not?

I don't know how much any of you know about my story, but something recently got me to write about it again in a new light. Maybe it'll help you out if you've been in a similar situation - I'm very open with my life but I'm sure a lot of you keep things to yourself and I don't know if this would help anybody.

I know John read it because he commented on the link via Facebook, and maybe some of the rest of you saw it there as well. Regardless, I'm linking to it here.

Just saw Avatar in 3D today with Annie. I didn't expect it to be THAT good. It's my favorite movie this year.

So much to talk about. This movie is DEFINITELY more like Pocahontas than Fern Gully, like what some of my friends tell me. Even though it was predictable, it was still VERY well scripted and developed.

One of my friends told me it was terrible. I have no idea what he's talking about. Everyone in the theater was totally into this movie. How can you NOT like it?

I'd tell you all to go see it, but I know for a fact that I'M the one late to the party here and I'm sure everyone here has already seen it. But in case you didn't, you're REALLY missing out!

Snare, if you can actually find a way to personally offend me, I'll be so impressed I might actually give you my little brother or something of equal value.

Because, yeah, I can't remember the last time anyone has found a way to hurt my feelings... at least in the last few years since I "grew up" a bit, as I put it.

BUT I LOVE IT

The week before yesterday I went to the dentist because I had this pain on the right side of my jaw, comes out that the upper wisdom tooth was causing the pain and the bottom wisdom tooth as well, but the twist with the bottom one was that it was like....next to the nerve, am like, that sounds REALLY bad, they were like, "yeaaa, for this your going to need oral surgery to remove this so your nerves won't get damaged". Then I asked how much it was going to run to remove the bottom one, the cost: 520$ to remove a tooth that would have been cheaper if I was not close to the nerve. So yesterday I got it remove, good thing I didn't feel ANY pain while they were removing it. Then they began to sow the gap and the string look like this _____________________________ _____________________________   long, am like WTH?!?! And now am stuck with this constant after surgery pain and only eat yogurt and Starbucks for the next three days.....

Tons of people have their wisdom teeth out, man. I just had mine out around Thanksgiving. I couldn't eat at Thanksgiving dinner.

And one of mine was close to the nerve, too.

Though I can't sympathize with you on the money issue, since my parents paid. But everything else, you're overreacting.

I personally think that ppl should get it out before it starts to hurt, that way you won't feel as bad as if your putting it off for a good while.

You're generally supposed to get them out between 18-25, but as I heard yesterday, it's better to get them out before they fully develop and get a root in there.

Bought World War Z today, as well as an impulse buy as soon as I laid eyes on 1984; now I can finally finish it at my pace, since I've had to library it* twice now.

I've also got Get In The Van on audiobook, I'm almost done reading listening to it now. #####ing great..

I had plans to get the wisdom teeth out before I turned 21, but my body had other plans to kick my ass. Now I'm no longer covered by insurance.

I can't understand anyone presumptuously saying "you're overreacting" because everyone seems to have a different experience with it. The fact is it really sucks during and after surgery, and everyone who's done with the experience is probably just happy that it's over and that they don't have to do it again.

It's may be difficult to understand what I mean if you don't suffer through pain on a daily basis, as has been happening to me. When I'm in pain, it sucks. When it's over it seems like I always downplay how bad it was because I try to just move on and forget about it.

Oh, hey, I suffered for a long time after I got my wisdom teeth out. My gums were sore for over a month, at which point I was told I must be imagining the pain. It hurt like hell. I hated it. I complained a lot, and I try never to complain.

I'm just projecting on TheOnly because I hate when people complain and I complained and I feel bad about that.

Okay, call me stupid or ignorant or whatever, but I didn't know about the fact that you should get them removed until some months ago. I wish I got them out when I was 18. Now I'm doing it when I'm 21, and it just might be a bit more painful.

This doesn't affect me, because I won't be drinking but... If you're getting them removed and you're 21 (or already drinking), don't drink while it's healing. I don't need to explain why, it affects your blood and the ability to heal those gaps where your tooth used to be.

But yeah, I too think TheOnly is overreacting a bit. Although I haven't done it yet but plan on to. I want it done and over with and I do NOT look forward to it. At least they'll put me to sleep for it.

Anyway, yours is done. Just take the pain, let it settle, and let it pass.

I was told that I wasn't going to get my wisdom teeth.

So far, I have two, and they're both fine. They help me chew on my left side. (I won't mention just how many teeth I'm missing, but suffice to say I have plenty of room in my mouth.)

My thirty-year-old cousin just had one grow in, too.

I got all four of mine removed at once.

I DID NOT FEEL ANY PAIN. Not before. Not after. NONE. There was like -35% pain. Then again, that surgeon was also a magician or something.
