So, I'm downloading Steam.
It just asked me my internet connection speed.
Problem is, I don't know it.
How can I find out what my internet connection speed is?
I would ask someone over some sort of messanger, but since I'm on a new computer I don't want to reinstall all that crap just yet 'cuz it always made my old computer run slow.

Uh... That didn't really help.
The options I'm given are:

Modem -56k

DSL > 256k

DSL > 768k

DSL/Cable > 2M

Cable/Fiber > 10M

That's the type of whatever-things I'm looking for.

Dad's gone, won't be back until Monday.
The 66% percent off Orange Box is only available this weekend.
Mom's computer illiterate.

USE THE SPEED TEST.
LOOK AT THE VALUE.
CHOOSE THE GROUP YOUR VALUE FITS IN.

Yeah, I still don't see any value on that speed test that makes any #####ing sense to me in this situation.
Whatever, I just picked the DSL/Cable one at random, so now Steam downloads things really slowly.
Is it always like this, or did I ##### up?

Even if you #####ed up I'm, sure you can change it later. It wouldn't make sense if you couldn't.

Yeah, it's not like they expect you to never change your internet. Like, what if you're on a laptop?

I have Steam and I probably set that setting once and haven't touched it since. I'm on a laptop and have never had a problem, although admittedly I don't really use Steam.

Usually when you choose that it's for calculation in the time estimate on the downloads.
If it's reading something like ten minutes but it take an hour to download, you picked the wrong one.

It all comes from the same place. At least I think it does.

'Kay, thanks dudes.
I changed the speed and now it's going a lot smoother.
Everything's working and stuff, so topic over.
