First day of a new job today. 9+tips to do dishes at a nice restaurant (BUSY RESTAURANT) about a forty-minute walk from home. Looking like it'll be full time, and since I still live with my parents I have no financial strains beyond school. If I can keep the job part-time through school I'll be able to not only pay upfront for each semester, I'll finally be able to build my first computer in the fall.
Things are looking up for me, 'nuff said.

The specific reason Stop 'n Swop would not work was that newer editions of the N64 would only keep the game state in memory for less than two seconds instead of 30-60 in earlier models (which would have allowed for the transfer).

You'd think they would have Mega Man X on there by now. When they do I'll snap it up, but for the meantime I still have it on the original hardware (which is beginning to show its age, mind you) and in collected form so I'm not desperate for it.
On the other hand, it's actually my favourite platformer of all time, so any time they felt like putting it up I'd be deliriously happy.
Aaaanyways, I'm currently in the middle of a playthrough in each of the three storyline-based X-Wing games, and loving it all, although my computer is retarded and insists on using 80% of my CPU time to run a ten-year-old game (X-Wing Alliance, all other games work perfectly via various solutions) at low detail. Sigh.

It had no reason to do that.
You either have a really wonky graphics card or your computer is just straaaange.
This. Even my Intel integrated POS can run in DX8.1 mode, it's the only way to make Source engine games work properly.

Are we discussing the technique or anything involved in obtaining or implementing it? No. We're discussing fricken Megaman with fricken laser beams in his fricken eyes.

The last few books I've read were mostly Eddings and Pratchett. I just finished up the Malloreon a few days ago. Great book. It's amazing how someone can write something that, while it is predictable to the point of predictability, still manages to capture one's attention through sheer good characterization and writing. Yes, the Belgariad and Malloreon are two of my favourite fantasy series because of this. They were basically written as an attempt to create the archetypal fantasy book, and the attempt succeeded brilliantly thanks to Eddings' talent.

Most recent read: The Road, for English. It's bleak. Really bleak. If the biggest thing you're looking for in a book is a severe case of depression and a headache from the confusing syntax, read it. Otherwise, don't. It makes Lucifer's Hammer read like a Care Bears plot summary by comparison.

If you press F8 repeatedly BEFORE the Windows "Loading" screen shows up, eventually you'll get the timing right and the launch options will show up and you can select Safe Mode among other things.
What Chron is talking about, however, is different. You'll need to find out which key gets you access to your BIOS settings from the motherboard's manual. Alternately it should say 'Press F# to enter Setup', where # is from 1-12.
From there you can change the order of devices to boot from.
EDIT: I should doubly stress this, if you're in there and you see something that you don't understand DON'T #####ING TOUCH IT. There's no better way to completely destroy your motherboard than ill-advised BIOS tweaking

They look like chastity belts for your feet.
... have you ever even SEEN a chastity belt?
Pretty sure the idea behind the post was that anyone wearing those shoes is not getting any. Because apparently shoes dominate modern society.

If I remember correctly, part of their argument is that to obtain meat, you not only have to outsmart other animals out for meat, especially things which would just as soon eat YOU, but eventually you have to learn how to kill for yourself.

On the other hand, there are some really awesome and epic games about space AND quests that haven't got either Space or Quest (or any derivative thereof) in their name.
Like Homeworld.

The music from Journey to Silius. Sometimes I discredit the NES, and I find some gem someone made ages ago using the thing.
It's amazing what one can do with such simplistic means. Sunsoft was particularly good at it, now that I'm thinking of it... too bad they never made much worth playing.
I should probably check out more of the stuff they did.
The NES sound chip is actually pretty versatile for a mid-80s PSG intended for everyday home use, even WITHOUT expansion chips like the VRC6/VRC7 which are like a form of cheating. Something I noticed recently while listening to Crystal Man's tune was a phantom third square-wave tone (which could NOT exist due to hardware limitations), which simply amazes me. It could be an overtone, but it shouldn't be because this is synthesized sound. It's probably the result of some sort of resonance between the two actual square waves, but why and how?

Hah, that was probably the only good part of the movie.
The movie's much better if you watch it with the idea that it's a parody of martial arts movies as opposed to an actual martial arts movie. Plus, Raul Julia is the best 'bad actor' ever
