Definitely X. He's got more weapons than almost all the others MM's, so he'd pwn guys like, uh..., Master Hand, for instance.

I wouldn't mind if X and Zero were a team and acted like Zelda/Sheik where you can switch between the two.

And you know what would be cool?  Since Snake gets special codec conversations X and Zero could communicate with each other, X with Alia, or Zero with Layer.

Example:

X:  ....
Alia:  What's wrong X?
X:  This child....He..he has some kind of special powers.
Alia:  Hm?  Oh!  You mean Lucas.  Well Lucas does come from a long line of PSI users.  He can use his powers against his enemies.  Don't take him lightly!
X:  Right.  I'll be on guard.

Zero:  UGHH!  Who is this guy!?  And why does he reek so bad!?
X:  I...I think he's Mario.  But he's different.  Wario I think he's called.
Zero:  Wait!?  Is he eating garlic!?  Oh man that's so gross!
X:  He uses that garlic to power up his moves.  He also uses his bodily functions to attack.  He's stange for a human isn't he?
Zero:  More like disgusting!  I'm gonna wipe that smirk off his face!

Zero:  Hey.  Nice sword.
Layer:  That's Link.  He comes from the land of Hyrule.  He's just so dreamy with his sword and...Oh!?  *Blushes*  Sorry.  Anyways Link can use his sword to channel energy and deliver a powerful spin attack.  He also has a bow, a clawshot, bombs, and a boomerang.
Zero:  Heh..this guy came prepared.  I bet he's no match for my saber.

That'd be more of a Metal Gear Solid rip-off though then.  What'd be creative is if Dr. Light informed Mega Man of his opponents in the form of a "Stage Select" screen.

I'd love to see Classic Megaman or X appear. They really would fit perfectly into the game. They probably would be a bit like Samus due to the buster. Maybe Mega could have a copy ability like Kirby's. If you pressed a button you could attack and steal one of their moves for a bit. Like if you attacked Link with it you could shoot bombs. ^.^

I'm not so sure about that.
Classic lacks a correlation on the first game by two robot masters, and X can usually overcharge his special weapons...
... not to mention his extra charge shots and generally wider variety of armor enhancements.

He can also wall kick, which would prove useful.

Wasn't saying Megaman needs those abilities. Just saying X does have more weapons on hand.

Megaman is a bit more orthogonal (small number of abilities to combine in many sensible ways) than X, and would be easier to map.
That, and he's cooler than X is for no real reason.

Well, from a commercial point of view, I don't think it would matter either way which one would get picked.
They both have they're pro's and cons, and they both had a game released around last year.

Either way, it doesn't matter to me. I just think if there would be a Megaman in SSB:Brawl, it would be X. Or Classic. Or Zero.

..gah, I really don't know..

I would add the Final Battle from MM5 to that list, as well as possibly the Dark Man stage theme.

Mega Man 4 had the best "Final Battle" theme, the complete works version being one of the single best boss themes in all of Mega Man history.  7 was a close second.

I voted for Trigger, just because his design seems to fit a bit more with the look of Brawl. If not him, though, I'd totally go with Classic. Because classic is swell. :D
