I'm not sure if it aired on TV, because I watched the episodes on DVD.

But I just felt curious about what everyone thought of it, if they've seen it.

I think it's okay. The art wasn't dazzling, but it was enough eye-candy. (Heck, the theme song animation seemed so good to me I took some screenshots. Unfortunately I'm too lazy to upload them and all, so don't even ask to see them.) However, the storyline was annoying repetitive. Get in trouble with Wily, save the day, and Mega's back at it again in the next episode.

Anyone else feel the same?

I've included some scans of the covers.

And here's a link to an episode guide with some real screenshots.

Sorry it's a rival website. I still think MMM is better.

Is that the same anime you can unlock in Megaman Anniversary Collection?

I'm sure it is. I can't be sure, however, because I haven't unlocked that in the game. (Let alone, played it at all . . .)

Actually that show was American-made, by Ruby Spears production.

In fact, this used to be on TV about... Give or take, fifteen years ago, and was a fairly entertaining show.

EDIT: In fact, that show had the best VA for Wily, period.

In a place like this, just assume everyone's seen/played/heard everything you have about MegaMan.

I'm sure it is. I can't be sure, however, blah blah blah

Mhm. Yeah. OK.

It's neither anime nor good.

It's any cartoon of that era with MegaMan pasted in.

Do you think it's available on YouTube? As Mikero has said, I'm not that much of a Megaman guru. Which explains why I haven't seen this OVA.

But that's not my evidence. I've seen it.

If it makes you feel better, it was a speedy watch. All I know is that some kid plays Mega Man 5, Wily and Mega Man come to life, giant random samurai robot, OMG HE'S A NINJA, a volcano lol, and uh... the end.

I've been looking for those two DVD's for a while now, but nobody sells them anywhere, not even on eBay, though that isn't an option for me.

It's more out of nostalgia, though. The show is what actually got me into MegaMan.

I was into video games big time when I was little. I never even knew Zelda had a show, but I loved to watch the Mario Bros. on TV, although it was crap. I only saw one episode I can remember so whatever.

Mega Man was worth watching. Yeah, he had a buff build and didn't really looked like the games but seriously, Mega Man ON TV.

#####ING MEGA MAN ON TV.

Dude, back then, that was MegaMan. I played the games and pictured that MegaMan. Big buff muscly MegaMan.
And it totally messed up my perception of ProtoMan. I always thought he was really evil until way later.

I always thought Proto man was just loyal on both sides, but obviously leaning towards Wily. I imagined Mega Man as a kid, although I admired the Mega Man 2 boxart.

I know the first of the three episode is in Youtube in subbed form, but I don't think the other two are. I've only seen the first episode.

Actually, I have watched the anime special. I just didn't know it was called Wish Upon A Star, so I though I hadn't seen it. I watched it on my phone on Sprint TV, in the Anime channels. It should still be there.

It's not bad, it's just generic American Saturday Morning Cartoon formulas mixed with MegaMan.

Bad TV is something very different than that.

Exactly! That's the one! Finally someone understands.

It is pretty bad. The animations and the plots sucked. Even the friggin' theme song was repetitive and annoying. The only part I like about it are the DVD covers and the concept art for the theme song.

What do you mean, "FINALLY someone who understands"?

We've been talking about it and acknowledging it throughout this whole thread already.

We pointed out that it isn't anime, it's just a generic American Saturday-Morning-Cartoon.

Ugh. When I typed in 'Wish Upon a Star Megaman' on YouTube, not knowing I had watched it before, and watched it, I thought it was some sort of older, full-fledged anime, one which you guys were talking about. I didn't think you understood the one I was thinking about.

Okay, wait, now you're just confusing me because I can't tell who's confused anymore.

I give up, this thread will be summarized right now:

- Ruby-Spears American MegaMan Cartoon is mainly only good for nostalgic value, and while wildly innaccurate in comparison to actual MegaMan plotlines, it's still a fun MegaMan-themed TV show meshed with the generic Saturday Morning action cartoon formula

- "Wish Upon A Star" is the test version for an American MegaMan cartoon in the veign of an anime that was never expanded upon and I've never seen it so I don't know if it's good or not

- All other TV incarnations of MegaMan make me want to cringe

It has nothing to do with Starforce. The OVA just happens to have the word 'star' in it, which, unfortunately, makes it sound like it's somehow related to Starforce. Thank goodness it isn't.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. Monday through Thursday you'd get a Mario cartoon on the show, but on Friday's you'd get a Zelda cartoon.

Actually, it's only about a year. The OVA was made in 1993, while the Megaman cartoon aired in 1994. The Promo would have been '93 or '94.

YOU HATED TEAM ROCKET'S MOTTO?

The only per-episode annoyance in any cartoon that I hated was the Digivolutions in Digimon because it took them a whole season to shorten them down.

I guess that Sailor Moon transformation stuff would've bothered me, too, had I watched Sailor Moon.

It was funny at first... but the same damn thing happened in every episode. It got so annoying, I'd mute the scene.

And Ash is ALWAYS SURPRISED. "OMG ITS TEAM ROCKET NO WAY".

In fact, this hatred grew so much, I just about ROFL'd when I saw this.
