Just watched Across the Universe.

What a trip, man. I love The Beatles, and I thought I'd be disappointed with this. I guess I was just expecting something entirely different. I honestly knew nothing about this movie before watching it, and it was a very pleasant surprise.

Although some of it way beyond weird, it all had a nice... well, it was art.
I highly reccomend it.

I want you so baaaaad...

I finally saw Cloverfield. I was hanging with my friends all day, and then suddenly we decided to see Cloverfield at a theater about two hours away from town. It was really cheap, $2.50 a ticket.

Anyway, I really liked it, but the response was extremely varied between the 10 or so kids I saw it with. A few loved it, a few hated it, and one guy fell asleep.

I thought it was really cool, but it didn't make it to my Class 1 favorite list. Class 2, maybe. (I'm tired of ranking movies, so I rate them 1-5, 1 being absolute freaking awesome favorite and 5 being utter crap.)

So... someone I know spotted "Frank" from I Am Legend in Cloverfield.

And we just saw The Eye at the screening I'm back from, and guess what's in THAT movie:

Well, I wasn't planning on seeing it, but I just got back from Strange Wilderness. A few friends and I went to see it on a whim. We literally saw the commercial, said "Hey, let's go see the movie," and went. It's been a long day.

While it is certainly not a GOOD movie, it was definitely very entertaining in an incredibly stupid way. I laughed a lot, but it could've been because I was already in a goofy mood, but we all seemed to enjoy it. It's pretty ridiculous and CERTAINLY not a family film in ANY way. The movie it most reminded me of was Beerfest - unrealistic plot mixed with stupid yet successful humor.

Trash, yes, but I laughed a lot and I can't deny it.

Cloverfield had a unique approach to camera work. And that's it.

I mean... Love interest stuck across town during a monster attack? Could you get any less original? And the monster designs were just as boring.

I no longer remember the last time I saw a monster and thought "Wow, I've never seen anything like that before."

I watched Blade Runner: The Final Cut last night. It was the first time that I had seen the movie all the way through; every other time it was just in bits and pieces. Great movie, but that ending was really abrupt. There needs to be more to this story - are the sequel novels any good?

There was text at the beginning, but I don't recall any voiceovers. I think what Abe is referring to is the five-disc version that you can get in a sexxxy metal briefcase. Over here you can get it in either the two-disc version (done so all of those who bought the four-disc last fall wouldn't go into a tizzy) or the five-disc (which rocks).

The voice overs were in the original where Han Solo explained everything.

Made a whole lot of sense compared to the first time I watched it where there were no voice overs.

BTW, saw Cloverfield last night. Good movie but... LEAVES TOO MANY GODDAMN QUESTIONS!
Did the monster die!?
Where did the monster come from!?
Why did the monster attack!?
Did that other girl who went on that other helicopter survive?
WTF HAPPENED TO THAT GIRL WHEN HER EYES BLED!?!?!??!?1?!
1) Those are kind of spoilers.

2) Apparently there's a lot of online stuff you have to look at to explain the movie, and it was intended to be that way.

Made a whole lot of sense compared to the first time I watched it where there were no voice overs.

It also gave the whole thing a more noir feel.

Heres the rock I bought a month or two ago. It's pretty cool, and it may look small on the outside, but inside it's quite roomy and comfy. I say to my friends I can see Jesus on my rock, but they can never see it.

I'm living under it.

True, but I'm also hoping it won't spawn another.

Unless they intend to do very well graphically, or something... I dunno. I'm more disgusted about this, really.

I did too, but I've always enjoyed that "Hello, and welcome to last week" picture. It fits.

I saw Jumper today. I thought it was interesting and fun, but there isn't anything great about it. I hope that they make enough money for them to make a sequel.

I was interested in that movie till I saw it starred Hayden Christensen.

Not only do I not want to see him in anything ever, I'd like to see him lynched.

Then maybe he'd learn how to emulate emotion

I dunno, I think he's okay. I've heard that he was great in Shattered Glass, and I thought he was okay in Awake and Jumper. He's good for the "everyman" roles like James Franco. Unfortunately, that's about all he can do well.
