What songs in your vidya games are the most memorable to you? If any, which ones really stood out to you and have you humming them or listening to them on your mp3 player for months after you finish the game itself? Post youtube links for others to listen to them as well of course.

Persona 3

Battle Hymn for Everyone's Souls - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdMhTL5bZrs

Burn My Dread Last Battle - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSq_nfTs4Ko

Darkness - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5fdXtWUPkc

Phantasy Star 4

The music from Chrono Trigger was amazing.

Donkey Kong Country and DKC2 - just get the whole soundtracks. Seriously.

Castlevania 3 - Overture (Dracula theme)

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - Subterranean Hell

This is the most exceedingly short list, all that I could come up with with very little time before class. I could fill the topic with my favourites.

My all-time favorite videogame soundtrack is Donkey Kong Country 2.

Other than that, it's just a huge variety and assortment of MegaMan songs. I call that Classic series one soundtrack, because I don't feel right picking just one game.

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - Subterranean Hell

Ugh, the water levels in Castlevania make me rage. So the music gets blocked out from me hating the game.

Yeah, Donkey Kong Country 2 is quite memorable.

Pulling from my childhood...

Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2
Metal Man, Bubble Man, and Flash Man from Mega Man 2

Music from Kirby's Avalanche. (1) (2) (3)(4) #2 being the most memorable for me.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island: (Boss) (Bowser Battle) Fighting Bowser was one of the best game experiences I've ever had.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT1) (TMNT2)(TMNT3) Most memorable is the 1st stage in TMNT 3, "Let's Go Turtles!"

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters -  I can't pick a favorite track. The whole game was good.

Also some music from Yu-Gi-Oh! games, but none really noteworthy right now.

There's more, but I can't remember them all right now.

There are a lot of things I like.

Most of Grandia 1, 2 and Xtreme are good. 3 is pretty bad, sadly.
Every Wild Arms game has at least two world map/intro themes that have me whistling along, and in MANY cases towns, dungeons and battles do the same.
Note I've not played 4 or 5, but the world map themes in 5 are still great.

Chrono Trigger and Cross have good music, although vastly different from one another.

Some classic Mega Man tunes like Cossack stage 3 & 4 and Wily Castle 1 & 2 (MM2).

I could go on for a huge, huge post, but I won't.

I've never played these games, and I don't particularly care to for obvious reasons.
But I love a lot of the music.

Lunar.

Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, to be exact. It might be the feeling I get, like playing the game for the first time again, over the actual goodness of the music. But that opening... It stirs up all this emotion.

I feel the same way about the intro to Secret of Mana.

Goosebumps.

Every time.

Have you ever played the second game? It has some equally (if not better) music in it.
Same composer as Grandia, by the way. His stuff is good up to a few years ago.

This is my favorite from Eternal Blue.

I could only ever get it to START working, and then it would cut out and not work, so I've never had the chance to play it. I can't discuss why here, but I guess saying that is enough.

I've never seen it in a store.

Neither have I, but I managed to find a friend with the disc.
I did pick up the first game in a store not too long ago. Cloth map, book and OST, too.

... and I found it for like $10 like that.
Best day ever.

(In the first game I do love that song Luna sings; it was on a demo disc and I always did like it)

My friend has the disc, it's the one he lent me. However, it's foreign.

I got the first game a long time ago when the place I was constantly renting it from closed down. 15 bucks. But somehow they managed to lose the cloth map in the days between me renting it and buying it.

I have the rest, but I'm not sure where everything is right now. One of the discs is in my PSOne, and the other MIGHT be in the case but I'm not sure. The OST disc was put into a CD case thing with other CDs but now I'm not so sure where it is, or where it's case is. I really need to find this stuff. But I know exactly where the book is, and it's condition is perfect thank God.

Luna's boat song is great, as is every other song really. But the opening... Oh man.

In your dreams...

The music to Advent Rising is amazing. You can hear a few different parts of the music in the official trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKQu4IZDG0I

My favorite song from the soundtrack "Bounty Hunter", starts playing after it says "Coming May 31st".

Out of all the games that I play, there at least 1 song that I will end up liking. Am like a total sucker when it comes to video game music.

Right now I'm kind of happy there's more music I recognize in Saints Row 2 than in the original.

Including a MSTRKRFT song! And a Death From Above 1979 song! And a NaS song! And I could go on!

*** Smash Bros. Brawl's version can burn in hell, it is a sin against Gawd and catalyst to the Apocalypse.

There are a lot of other soundtracks I really like, like Killer Instinct and Skies of Arcadia, but somehow they just didn't make the list.

I like Brawl's Stickerbrush Symphony. But there is something more special about the original version.

I listened to the new one again, and I don't hate it anymore. I can now appreciate the difference in tempo, instrumentation, and atmosphere, but I still don't like the song as a remix.

The problem is, as is was before, that most of the song is unrecognisable. A lot of notes are different, missing, or maybe even displaced - it's like the new song only samples the original.

You can't prove that great music transcends genres if you rearrange it like lawn furniture.

I forgot to mention that my list was arranged top to bottom, greatest to least favorite. Maybe I'll add Youtube links later.

SotN does have some seriously awesome tracks made even more awesome because they fit perfectly with the atmosphere of every area.

Good game music usually does that.

Castlevania in general has the single best music of any series.  Having amazing music is as much a part of it as Dracula.

Also, I've recently finished a rip of Lunar Silver Star Story complete if anyone is interested.
