I did THREE brand new jokes tonight, so shove it. One thing about stand-up that kind of sucks is that a lot of people expect the comedians to always have brand new material, but it's really hard to constantly churn out new stuff... in fact, it's bad to do that. The real art is in refining and polishing your best material until you have a long set, like an hour worth of genuinely funny jokes. It can take years to manage that, and it's a lot of the same jokes over and over again.

Oh, and the crowd was actually pretty good. They weren't as responsive as it would be for a real comedy club, but as far as crowds at an open mic go, they were top notch!

There's a part that's cut off at the beginning where I ad-libbed some stuff about how the last three comedians before me were all black. "It's time to change the channel from BET to CMT... let's drive this bus back to Whiteytown, where the buildings are nicer and we drive better cars."

But yeah, METROID JOKE.

From what I remember, it's mostly an episode about Stanley and Michael learning to tolerate each other. Stanley's pretty much always like that, it's just that he finally snapped in that clip. It's been a while, though, and I've never done a second run-through of the show.

(Lately the show has been coasting by on the fact that it has a large fanbase - it should have ended a couple seasons ago.)
