MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / IMPORTANT - New Members Introduce Yourselves here or get BANNED

As you all may have noticed, we've had a severe rash of Russian Spam bots descend upon us lately. On the off chance anyone new joins that is a real person and Mega Man fan, please introduce yourself here and tell us a little about why you like Mega Man.
You don't (I think) need to be a member to browse the forums, so generally speaking accounts that sign up and don't post are Spam bots waiting to take a dump on the forums. We'll see how this goes though.
Enjoy!

I'll get it once all the DLC is done and they release the complete version on disc with EVERYTHING ON THE DISC. If it's just the initial release disc plus a sheet with codes to download, I'll get the initial release for next to nothing and that will be it.

Actually, UMvC3 didn't have all the DLC on it. It was still missing Jill and ShumaGorth as well as all the costume and color packs. All Ultimate had was essentially the 10 new characters and balances.
It's really irritating that costumes and colors are locked to DLC now, but it's flatly unacceptable to have half the games roster as DLC. And that's going to be the case on this, I can guarantee it. That alone makes me lose most of my interest in it. The same with Smash 4 and it's quarter of the roster as DLC only.

I wish I could get more excited for this, but you know that a 1/4 to a 1/3 of the roster will be DLC. You'll get 15 or so fighters on launch on disc, then over the next 2 years another 15 DLC characters added. That's how they do fighting games now. ##### that and ##### Capcom.

If it was just a new version of Mega Man pulling general ideas and designs, I think it would be met with amazing apathy and shurgs. And some anger at why they'd do that instead of just doing ACTUAL Mega Man instead of frothing insane death hate like it's gotten. This way they get the best of BOTH worlds though! They get to do not Mega Man and use general ideas and designs completely wrong AND call it "actual Mega Man" and get the frothing hate. Everyone wins!

It really is a bookend to Capcom's amazing program of Megacide. Capcom won't give us any Mega Man, and anything we do get isn't a game, or is of such vomit inducing no care/time/effort put into it (cough*xover*cough*mmxmobileport*) that it's more of a "##### You" to the fans. MN9 was suppose to do what Capcom won't, but it really turned into an even bigger train wreck.

Yes, it's a glorious train wreck. Did anyone think it wouldn't be? MN9 really had some potential, but my god they screwed the pooch in EVERY possibly way. I'm in no rush to buy this thing, but if I do, I'm going with the PS4 version. Though I read the RAY DLC isn't even on the disc, but just a voucher to download it. Disappointing as hell.

I debated to make this thread when I saw it, but decided someone else would. I've said lots of angry things about it already. But Jesus H. Christ, does it look AND sound like hot garbage.
Sounds like the old, awful Dreamwave comic with the school #####. Isn't this great for the 30th Anniversary?!

Yeah, it was digital only THEN they said "hey we're doing physical now" dispite lots of people saying they wanted a retail/physical option from the get go which got us a "steam digital online only copy on a thumb drive" option. Seriously, what the living #####? That's in no way a physical version of the game since it's Steam, which just treats it like a different type of download. It acts like a digital copy in every other way.
Anyway, I know looks shouldn't count to how a game is judged, but given what other 3D looks like, and how other 2.5D games have looked, there is no getting around how ugly MN9 is. And that's extremely unfortunate. It all just goes into a big disappointment.
Now the BIG question is, how bad will the new Mega Man game based on the new cartoon be? I know nothing has been announced, but it's the only logical next step. You know there will be a tie in game to the new cartoon, and I bet you it will be a brilliant level of awful.

I thought I'd read they had a stage or stages you could play to level up, but not that they were new game+ only. That kind of sucks. I've screwed myself with several pair units since I never use them and they're about 10-14 levels behind everyone else. Every time I'm forced to use them in stages they do lilke 4 or 5 damage with attacks.
One of the downsides of letting you pick your party every stage instead of rotating who is in and out every time to keep leveling even. Also the skill points to raise stats hurts if you don't earn any during fights, which I don't too often, because I'm not great at timing and chaining things and that's how you earn them. That also keeps your stats low.

3 times, 2 of which were for JUST the online mode having bugs. The games been done for like a year, but they won't release it because the online co-op garbage mode no one asked for is broken and they can't get it working.
As I said, I have no interest in it anymore. I may pick up a retail copy used when it hits the $5 mark though.

2 fixed pretty much every problem 1 had. My only issues with it are
1) I'm not as fond of some of the cast additions/removals.
2) The fan service has been dialed back a LOT. Not even a censor issue, it's just not there.
3) I'm not sure I like the music as well this time as I'm not fond of the fake orchestrated style they went with.
Mostly all that is superficial though, and subject to personal taste. The mechanics are solid as diamond. The dialog is still brilliant and the game is more fun that should be allowed by law. The one thing I wish they'd add is a place to level up so you can buff your units, as you just can't get EVERYONE at levels you need by doing normal stages.
I'm like 50 hours into it and I'm on chapter 30 something. I don't have my 3DS with me so I can't check for sure. I might even play the new game + to get to see the all female hot spring scene too.

Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread
|

Marvel isn't a "style" of comic book movie, it's just actually portraying it's characters far more accurately. Making a superhero movie that is dark or takes it's self seriously is FINE, but not when you do it for something that isn't dark/serious JUST for the sake of doing that. And that's what they did for BvS, MoS and is the general direction DC is taking it's CU. Batman, as edge lord as he's portrayed sometimes isn't and doesn't HAVE to be as dark as he's been of late.
And that's the problem with DC, they're doing dark, serious and mature JUST to do that, regardless of if that's what the tone and characters call for. I don't even recognize MoS/BvS Superman. He's not Superman in any meaningful way the character has been for 60 years. People, who seriously/unironically defend this portrayal of him or that BvS is literally a cinematic masterpiece and transcendent comic book movie are blowing out more ##### from their ass than Galactus after eating a Jupiter sized burrito from Taco Bell. I have no issue with people liking the movie, but it's a HORRIBLE rendition of the characters, and criminally off tone. Suicide Squad is going under reshoots to make it "funnier". That's entirely due to the large amount of negative feedback on how dark and soulless MoS and BvS are. But even then, it's just another knee jerk reaction to try to catch more of that Marvel Money Train. It has NONE of the forethought that Marvel has put into their stuff. Just like shoving more of the cut BvS footage to make an "R" rated cut to try to piggyback off Deadpool's R rated success without ANY attempt to understand WHY Deadpool was rated R and why it worked.
I could go on forever about it but I'll end it there.

You can't really have a Mega Man forum that's mostly not Mega Man related stuff. I think the fans are all still there, but there's just not much to talk about, sadly.
The only thing that comes out anymore are fan games, and those vary in quality from awful to ok.
Age has made you weak, Delta... where as I have only become MORE bitter and thus more powerful!

If it's a comic book, it should have that tone. Most of DC falls into that. The BEST animated DC stuff is that in spades. It doesn't have to be ##### just because it's live action. Marvel has absolutely NAILED the tone of it's comics in it's movies. They're far from perfect, but they're generally good and loyal to the source material in both tone AND content. DC can not say the same thing, at all. As a fan of these characters, it makes me extremely sad to see them portrayed with such a deafness to tone and style of the source material for the sake of making it "mature" or "not comic booky".
But as I said, this is Superman and Batman. That ALONE will make half a billion, regardless of if it's good or bad. And make no mistake this is a BAD movie. Period. Can you imagine if they'd nailed the tone and style? They'd have easily made billions. Marvel has done it, and with C and D tier characters because they respect the source material and it's style and tone. DC does not and does not.

3D "2D" almost always looks like #####. MN9 CERTAINLY does. And while I firmly believe that graphics aren't the be all end all most important thing about a game, the 3D in MN9 looks especially bad, even for 3D. It just doesn't look good for what it is.
And you're right, as beautiful as Shovel Knight is, it makes MN9 look even worse. Add to that Bloodstained is looking simply stunning, DISPITE being in 3D. The level of art quality just can't be compared.
I have a Wii U code coming for it when (if) it ever comes out that I'm just giving away. If I end up owning it, I want an actual physical copy, because ##### digital. I'm still pissed they went with retail AFTER the fact and you couldn't change your pledge to get the version you wanted. I just regret backing it ENTIRELY, and hindsight being 20/20, would not do so now.

BvS looks like dog #####. Seriously, it's so god damn grimdark and "realistic" and "not comic booky" it hurts. It's a "mature film for mature film goers like me and not some kiddie comic #####" just like Man of Steel, which is one of the single worst comic book adaptations ever made. And that's what BvS is based on/building on.
It will still make hundreds of millions of dollars, so by that measure, it will be a "good" movie.
