Title: WW's Art or whatever
Post by: Winged Warrior on 3 December 2007, 07:32:42
((WING'S REOCCURINGLY RENAMED ART THREAD))

So, of all the artstuffs I have created this summer, I have mostly worked on my comics...

(which instead of whoring out here, will be in my signature staring at you all soon enough)

I decided to show you some of my favorite works.

So far... so fun.

As a Vasquez fan, I know exactly where you got your inspiration and I'm not liking it too much.

Not a bad drawing, not even a bad immitation, but trust me, I went down this path for a small bit and realized it's better if you develop your own style.
It takes time to find something you like, but once you have a way to draw that is very much your own, you'll know. Don't literally copy the artwork of others.

Unlike you, Mike, I don't have people willing to take their clothes off for me at a moment's notice.

The title is:
Anatomy for the artist
the dynamics of the human form

Yes. That's nice. I own many anatomy books too.

I don't know why you decided to bother to try and insult me, as that seems completely out of nowhere. I was only saying that the best way to get good at anatomy is to go to life drawing sessions and draw nude models. But sor-ry for trying to help.

Title: Re: Wing's Renamed thread of artstuffs
Post by: Winged Warrior on 17 August 2008, 08:01:15
I can see how a negative tone got across.

That or Mike is so cool that nudity is an insult. That's why ninjas wear so much clothing.

:(

Seriously though, I meant no insult, I'm just insanely picky about where I get what references I do use, and I'm not too fond of people...

It's really nice to have a book that isn't an outdated 'The anatomy Coloring book'.
It's a book for identification with vague representations for medical reasons rather than dead on observations and drawings.

Title: Re: Wing's Renamed thread of artstuffs--(8/29/08)
Post by: Winged Warrior on 30 August 2008, 09:30:33
Looking through the story that I was plotting and doing, I realized that Doam, the way it was, Was far from acceptable. I didn't enjoy it like I first did, and I was always so focused on getting to do new material on the next chapter that I'd rush and take shortcuts with the previous chapter. Not that it ever got past three chapters.

Though I hate having to start over, It is something I have to do to feel like this is REALLY my best. My mindset when I was starting it the last few times was for internet popularity, even though I understood I wouldn't be as popular as household names such as C.A.D,  V.G.CATS, or the popular groupings. Though my original mindset was indeed to tell a story, as time has passed I realized that I lost that story, the emotions that I wanted to invoke, Everything. I was tired and bored of everything I produced, The quality of every peice of art that I produced were self absorbed and rushed.

I am redoing it all, taking my time, and doing it RIGHT!

So now I'm writing everything down. Getting my beginning, middle, and end down. Setting up everything before I set my drawing utensils down. With the exception of the new character designs!

Here I present the mecha that will be appearing in the beginning and be a plot pusher for the introductions. The robot and the space-ship forms, and Sorry wind, No pointy black shades.

Title: Re: Wing's Renamed thread of artstuffs
Post by: Winged Warrior on 15 September 2008, 01:28:24
I actually like the more plain aspects of it, And the ship looks like a scrapheap, Seeing as it's a small part of the story, This will do juuuuuust fine.

Posted on: 30 August 2008, 21:12:06

So that idea didn't work as well as first planned, the whole mecha thing wrote me into a corner.

While working on more ideas, I started doodling some of the familiar characters that I plan to use.

I give you Alex, Kya, and Atrium.

Good stuff Wing-O, Alex is probably my favorite, I can really see a refined style here, that anatomy things working for ya. The second girls breasts seem to be odd, they're un-even in shape.

I'm quite fond of the settling image for that character. It was hard to find an look that would fit her, but this one stuck.

Alex has very short upper arms.
And very long forearms.

<.< yeah. I noticed that while drawing it. I didn't really expect it to go farther than for personal reference on most of the key points, However Alex had more than a few issues to deal with. we are working on a more mailable character attitude. Along with an the attire to fit it. see attached image. the outfit works for us, but we are still debating character attitude/party dynamics.

Shaddup. I didn't want a mecha based story. As soon as you put ONE in the first few chapters EVERYBODY has to have one, or they cry and bitch and moan. That was definitely something I didn't want to hear from my characters. So I had to make it fair. I might have a mecha or two at the end, we'll see.

Also below is our new logo. Now that in-comic nudity is less of a gimmick and more of a "if it happens" thing, I decided we'd be better off with a new look. (Also my avatar~)

This will sound a lot more confrontational than I intend it to and I'm sorry for that, but it's obvious to a spastic jellyfish that it's a parody of Animorphs after reading the title alone.

Anyway I never read it or Animorphs and the Animorphs TV show was barely watchable.

I read REAL high class literature like Goosebumps.

Ones that have "boy love" fanfictions that you stumble upon while actually trying to browse something good.

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T: Quality

That latter statement makes sense.

My definition of mixing is when you put things together to make them one thing. Or several mixed things, even. To me, mixing can be done with care, and with a clean ratio if needed.

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T: Quality
Post by: Johncarllos on 5 August 2009, 02:57:12

To me, mixing means mashing things together in any way shape or form so that each is still itself, just tangled with something else.
Once they homogenize they become a solution.

For the Younger members...

In the older days, when someone was banned, their avatars would be cleaned off and their personal text would say "-banned-"
I'm assuming that this was to let other members know that the trash had been taken out.

Due to a virus a LONG time ago, I would be banned for weeks without the moderators even knowing. Since then, Being banned has become a running theme.

...I really shouldn't have to explain this...

Making stuff smaller in Photoshop is like transforming a vector though, there shouldn't be any issues with that.

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T.
Post by: MOX on 19 October 2009, 05:35:39
Well what I mean is using the free transform tool in Photoshop for making images smaller has close to no quality issues as opposed to making them bigger.

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T.
Post by: Winged Warrior on 19 October 2009, 09:43:35
I still have the origional frames, If I can fix the head then...

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T.
Post by: Mikero on 19 October 2009, 21:20:20
Photoshop uses levels, not frames. I'm not being nitpicky, it DOES matter.

What MOX was saying was that when making things smaller it should be fine. And he's right. Quality doesn't degrade when you shrink raster graphics, which is why you should always scan at 300dpi or higher (also in print media they make everything huge like that too, ask a publications rep).

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T.
Post by: MOX on 20 October 2009, 03:28:41
He might mean layers instead of frames. And I only learned about DPI late last year so all of my drawings done on the computer were 72dpi (though I only posted them on the web so I don't feel that bad about it).

If the head is on its own layer, you can just CTRL + click the layer to select it, then go to EDIT>FREE TRANSFORM from the top (CTRL + T) for shortcut). Hold shift and drag inward, or make sure the WIDTH and HEIGHT is the same % at the top to keep the size relative.

If the head is on a layer with the rest of the body (which is what I presume) you can just make a selection around the head with the marquee tool and transform from there.

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T.
Post by: Mikero on 20 October 2009, 03:58:32
I know he meant layers, that's why I said it.

But on learning photoshop: I really thing it's a DIY thing. I know there's tutorials and stuff but they just teach you someone else's way. Maybe it's a good start, though.

Title: Re: W.R.R.A.T.
Post by: Winged Warrior on 21 October 2009, 11:34:49
I've had photoshop for about a month now, and I know some of the basics, Photoshop really bugs me though. I hate having to learn new programs.

I know that if I spend two hours learning something on photoshop, once i get it down, I can knock that down to mere seconds, but I can already do it so nice in Open canvas in mere minutes.

Sure there's things PS can do that OC can't, but I used OC for like, seven years.

Either way, I think I might just leave this one big headed, and try to keep my proportions down next image.

I almost thought I had the meme done, and ready to upload last night. I was wrong, This morning, in review before posting, I noticed a little pink drow nipple erect and exposed to the open air.

We can't have that.

So it's mosaic'd, Since the rules still state that I can't 'post anything illegal, political, religious, bigoted, sexually explicit, or otherwise inappropriate'... Just look down at your hairy man nipple, and imagine that on the drow boob.

I was searching through my old images, giving a general overview of my plot in development to SB, when I found something that I could have SWORN I inflicted on you when I first made it in July or so.

During that time, on that horrible Deviant Art website, some popular ##### did their own version of a comic that involved boob grabbing, rainbows, and ADVENTURE!

Here's the origional, bandwith stolen directly from Know Your Meme (http://knowyourmeme.com).
(http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/072/493/41f698efb11a2fa30a37fa1f9e688767.jpg) (http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/72493-x-grab-my-y)

It was pretty great, even though the Meme was years behind the origional creator's comic. I had considered doing one myself, but it wasn't until another grand event in july that I finally felt inspiration.

Here is my horrible contribution to that bandwagon.  Enjoy your feels.

Oh, Hey. It's April.

Oh well, People are getting attention, and those people aren't me. Here's and update on that thing I was doing.

And something Doam related that I did in January.

Is that a mask or helmet of some sort? I dig it.

Look at me, waiting ten days to respond to something I'm fairly sure I read a day or two a after it was posted.

IN short, It is a helmet.  I've never been good at helmets and so making helmets for the faceless grunts of the evil government of DOAM has posed a bit of a challenge.  This is the second or third design working off a few ideas stolen inspired from other good helmets.

The helmet will probably get another couple attempts before I finalize the design.

Here's some more stuff I originally doodled for the Doam blog.

I know it's the internet, so I'm the black sheep on this, but I still think proportionately oversized boob-drawrings are WAY overrated.

BUT, you're structure is getting way better (and quickly, too) and I actually think those aren't as comically large as you might have done in the past. She'd have back problems but they are a size that's POSSIBLE so I think that makes it a lot more appealing from a design standpoint. That said, I get that online people just want planet tits on waif bodies for some reason.

Your faces are looking a lot better too. The placing is just better in general plus it looks like you're more confident in your line work, which makes everything much more crisp. Facial structure is better too, none of those laser sharp edges or sunken-in look.

Keep it comin', my man!

Title: Re: WW's thread of poorly drawn boobs
Post by: ASR on 25 April 2013, 05:29:42
mostly it just seems like you spent twice as much time drawing the boobs than literally anything else on her body - the amount of detail just doesn't match the rest of the drawing (which is otherwise great)

Posted on: 24 April 2013, 23:29:29

anyway where's planet tits located

You can always tell where the artist had the hardest time with a sketch. Always the darkest part. The most erased. The most lines.

Planet tits is in the overrated solar system, orbiting the star Bucks, 15 parsecs from the small moon Kobe.

Jokes on you! I always do the hardest parts on another layer, Ultimately to be deleted and hidden from view after failure.

Then I return to easier things so that I can lie to myself about being a legitimate artist.

Also, 'Planet boobs" actually refers to two seperate planets "boob" that like to hang just above the mid-drift sector.

CHARACTER DESIGN.

Yep definitely more solid. Ear looks a tad high but I wouldn't worry about it.

You can always tell where the artist had the hardest time with a sketch. Always the darkest part. The most erased. The most lines.

Jokes on you! I always do the hardest parts on another layer, Ultimately to be deleted and hidden from view after failure.

It's still darker and has more feathering than the rest of the drawing, which implies more time and effort!

Then I return to easier things so that I can lie to myself about being a legitimate artist.

That IS being a legitimate artist!

Yeah, these last few pieces show massive improvement.

Is he bending them backwards over a table?

You've definitely improved a bunch.

Title: Re: WW's thread of poorly drawn boobs
Post by: Winged Warrior on 28 April 2013, 00:13:48
I guess it could be over a table.  I added the second person as an afterthought, since the Energy blast thing wasn't going to work.  I had a different reference I was working from that I failed to represent..  I Didn't want to throw much more time into the sketch so I went with something a little more comfortable.

I have a lot of studies to do in relation to actions and drawing what I see, and unfortunately I haven't a lot of time to devote to it right now, What with filling most of my day with being lazy and all that.

There's also writing being done, which when I'm not doodling character design updates to fill the character sheet notebook, I'm attempting to assemble a plot.

Here's a preview: http://tmblr.co/ZJYhKwi-mHoV

Post by: Mikero on 1 May 2013, 05:22:47
It looks good but I never really understood why everyone has people doing energy blasts so laisser faire.

Like, one-handed and straight-postured? It makes it look effortless, and maybe that's the point sometimes, but I think you sacrifice a dynamic pose for a plain one.

Title: Re: NSFWing's Art
Post by: Winged Warrior on 26 May 2013, 08:16:12
I blame Dragon-ball z mostly.  Every now and again you'd get a character so badass that he didn't have to even bother when murdering his foes.

then in typical "badass" form, Everyone took it making it the common mess it is today.

The fellow above is a special case within DOAM, but he also hasn't been completely pounded out when it comes to him manifesting his powers, so any drawings of him doing so is more experimentation and play than actual exhibition.

Speaking of experimentation...

It's still raw outlines of something i'm inking.  Me and a local friend have a collaborative project we're working on.  we're waiting to see if we don't just get bored of it after a few weeks before tossing out an announcement saying we're doing it, so nothing official quite yet.

Lol nipples.

Also, looks like Zelos from Tales of Symphonia.

That hand is excellent. The head on the person in the background looks either way too big or way too far forward based on how thin the body appears to be.

Title: Re: NSFWing's Art
Post by: Winged Warrior on 26 May 2013, 21:51:47
Inspired by a (friend is a strong word)'s tabletop characters,  One of which who insisted that it run around topless all the time.  And not in the cool "I'm the female rambo!" way.  In the "There's a man playing a woman and pointing out his character's sexuality every five minutes" way.    There's other traits this character carries from that player, but those will be shown off in the comic.

Never played any of the tales game.  A quick Google search has me agreeing for now.

As for the hand, It's a photo I took and traced.  Sure it's the pussy's way out, but it works.  And for the head... Well it's set in stone now.  That's part of this project, fortunately.   It's not serious and as such I'm allowed to ##### up and learn from the mistakes.

Title: Re: NSFWing's Art
Post by: Johncarllos on 27 May 2013, 20:30:13
Also, Zelos is a male, just an incredibly feminine one.

The Tales games are great, it's all the stuff I like about RPGs and no RANDOM battles, nor turn based ability usage. Real time 2.5D combat.

You'll learn through tracing, at least.

Ha ha, Yeah. I didn't finish that page.  I don't know what's wrong with me.

In order:
1)   The unfinished first "page" of Super Secret Project Skilless."  It was a learning experience. I might still return to it, but probably not.

2)  The new design of Tortuga. A very rough reference.  Tortuga was actually inspried to be a character like what Opal would Play.  I think official word was favorable.   I think.

3)  The teaser image to Super Secret Project Skilless 3.  If I do not return to it, then I've got a kickass in-joke poster.  Kick ass!

4)   The logo was made WELL before the poster, but it got so much positive feedback I had to ##### it up with the above poster.  Here's the logo in all it's glory

Posted on: 28 June 2013, 22:12:04

5)   8)

6)   Something I made for SB some person on the Internet.  Now that the shadowbolts thing is pretty much dead, I may as well post it.

7)   Alex.  Trying something.

8)   8)

I know I don't ever say this, but I really appreciate the feedback guys.

The MMM has always been a very powerful force in driving me to want more out of my art,  Always providing serious expectations from me despite never really being known for my quality.

Over the past several years I've worked really hard making and meeting higher expectations, and I'm constantly getting closer to something I can really be proud of.

So, again,  Thanks.

The very last image is my current active drawing project on the table.  I'm still doing alot of the writing and scripting to Doam, and it's making some huge headway.  If I can keep my pace I'll have the first of two or three acts completed in the first draft (or the second, depending on the drafting process) in a decent timeframe.

the drawings have been taking a backseat to the writing projects for a decent while,  now more than ever, but I'll continue to work on it and throw it up here once done.

In the meantime, here's something absolutely amazing.

I've been debating on if I wanted to shill this here or not.

So I guess I've started a you-tube channel.  I mean another one,  The Wrrrtw one has been around for a some time now, but I've finally gotten on board to that whole Let's Play bandwagon now that the market is completely saturated and the bar being set around that of reaction channels.

Me and a buddy have been talking for ages about doing SOMETHING with our gaming hobby, and Let's Plays have been on the top of the "Viable" list.  I was of the mindset of "Yeah, Cool.  Get that started!" but things never picked up.  We had no name for ourselves, we had no idea what we wanted to do (other than we wanted to make sure we were entertaining to ourselves first), and we had no experience in video editing.

Around late December I pulled my assets together, Got the Cibrinauts Logo finished, and started editing test videos to get a channel off the ground.  Next Tuesday the channel is going to be a month old. I've got a lot of room to grow, but I find it entertaining.

It's also a bit easier than ART, meaning I can have some productive time that is less stressful and feels like less of a waste than that behind my tablet.
