Title: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 16:55:39
The First XCM was pretty good but will there be a 2ND? ???

Good point!

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 17:22:28
it would probably take some work cause last off X, Axl, and Zero were stuck out at sea and what would they do to get to land who knows  :'(

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 17:24:12
THERE MUST BE ONE. Even though it doesn't seem likely (at all), I'm sure hoping that Capcom will put SOME amount of effort into developing what the consumer wants. Like X command mission 2, legends 3, etc.

Well, you have to take into account that alot of other things in the series go unexplained. It really wouldn't bother me much if they "somehow"got to land. Just so long as they made the next game.

Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 17:28:02
oops sorry forgot to post spoiler on X, Axl And Zero

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 17:29:50
Don't worry... Anyone who's already waiting for a second one will have surely already beaten the first installment of the series. 8)

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 17:31:36
another thing would be what would the new bosses be since

Episolon dies which is redips and there wasnt a sign of Sigma in the Whole XCM Game.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 17:35:14
I think that has to be the only game which revolves around X in which
SIGMA ISNT THERE OMG.
So I don't know where they could take the story line from here... They could always easily introduce Sigma to THIS universe, to make things more interesting.

btw, Your spoiler didn't work right, you might want to edit that.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 17:37:22
hopefully they make a new one this one had good storyline and we need more megaman X games like XCM

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 17:39:46
Yeah, I pretty much liked everything about this game. The control style and RPG gameplay was new and interesting to the X series. Not to mention the Hidden bosses and Transformations and other cool stuff they threw in just to make it awesome.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 17:49:18
was there anything you thought they could improve on in XCM? if so what could XCM 2 have with the improvement?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 17:51:52
Probably the ability to go back farther after you beat the game. That would be nice in the second one. And make it easier to get the item stealing subweapon. (for SFM fragments)

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 17:55:15
is it me or was there some items on it that just Dissapeared? like for example Gain Hyper, it was needed for some FM Recipes wasnt it?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 18:02:48
There might have been, but i recall there being an unusually large number of low percentage drops from rare golden "hovering bee things (i can't remember the name)" in the desert. One of them was the item stealing subweapon.:'(

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 18:06:10
at least i think it was Gain Hyper i might be wrong

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 18:08:15
Was gain hyper the one which increases hyper mode permanently? because you get alot of those from fighting all the Ninetails'.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 18:13:01
I think so but i thought there was a FM Recipe that included it

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 18:18:50
Ah, yeah, i remember some of those being there. FM recipies which required "1-time" items. Also you can never create the items you need to use. *sob*. If they made it so that you could make items without losing other items, but costing alot more FM, that would be nice lol. Did you ever get both SFM's?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Jaker on 25 March 2008, 18:21:12
SFM'S? the final boss?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Kayauts on 25 March 2008, 18:26:14
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you already know this, but:
if you use the "item stealing subweapon" on his first form you get SFM Fragment Alpha, and the second form you get SFM Fragment Beta. (SFM--->Supra Force Metal) SFM Alpha makes you heal every turn. SFM Beta makes you extremely Powerful. Unforunately you miss often.
It seems pretty obvious there won't be a second, but they left it pretty open, so it's at least worth talking about right? :)

I would say so.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Rama Olendris on 25 March 2008, 18:58:57
I'm not sure what they could possibly continue on with for plot... What I would want instead of a continuation of Command Mission- is another RPG, this time with a decent time length and better music. I still insist that making Elf Wars into an RPG would be awesome.

So has the X series ended on XCM? not including the PSP game.

What do you mean by this?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Rama Olendris on 25 March 2008, 19:24:41
I'm sure that Command Mission is canon. It just went off of the X time line for a bit, there's no saying that Command Mission can't take place after X8.... I think.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: TheRedPriest on 25 March 2008, 19:27:52
One of the "source books" retconned it out because the time frame clashed with MMZ.  Or so I had read.  Weather or not it's at all true, I have no idea.

And a second Command Mission needn't continue what happened in the first.  As long as it's an RPG based in the Mega Man X series and ignores the ass spit canon Inti Creates helped make it can be as good as the first game.

... as long as Sigma is the boss.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: preventerWIND on 25 March 2008, 19:29:31
I vaguely remember something being said about it not being part of the X time line, or something along the lines of that. Since I can't provide a source, it shouldn't be taken seriously : \

Edit: Rez provides : D

Well in any other case, I never liked CM, I honestly tried to play it, two times even! But could never get interested in it.. I think I fought the first white security robot, and turned it off after.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Rama Olendris on 25 March 2008, 19:33:35
I'll believe the 'source books' when I actually read them myself, I'm not trusting information online supported through rumor. If someone could find the information in an official source book, scan the page and put it up and show it too me in either Japanese or English then I'd believe it. Until then, I'm going to be weary.

Well luckily R20 should be coming out, so I suggest you sharpen your Japanese, Rama  ;)

Also, to anyone that cares, the RMZ source book has been delayed. Again. *wah-wah-waaah..*

Pft, I'm not surprised that it's been delayed again.

I am doing just that- just got a nifty electronic Kanji dictionary that set me back $300 v.v I needed it though- the Kanji in the Japanese language is murdering me while everything else is just fine. It's like someone who is native to English not being able to read the letter E.

The hell is R20?

Oh whoops, I meant the RM-RMX source book, it should be coming with tons of missing info about the original and X series.

R20 is a massive picture book containing, like, everything from RM and X series.

If it sells, but not as much as they wanted, they won't make a sequel.

Seconded by me, too.  (Thirded?)  I don't want any more games that validate the Zero Series made.  That series just needs to die and take all its nasty roots that are choking the life out of the GOOD portions of the franchise with it.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Rama Olendris on 31 March 2008, 20:51:31
Hey, play nice.

Anyway, despite the Zero series being depressing and vastly different and not as good as the X series, I will admit, I personally still enjoyed it. I'm not sugar-coating the Zero series, there is a whole lot I hate about it, however I find it very interesting and the Elf Wars seems like it would make a good game, IF it's done right which it probably wouldn't.

This is my opinion, you have no right to insult me for it.  :P

As for a XCM2, it might be done and it could be kickass, but it's doubtful it would ever come to be.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?

The Elf wars is an abomination and any game spawned from it would be instafail.

You can't say that for sure.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?

Well, it will make children across the globe think of those Elves when they talk about Megaman 15 years from now.
That is a world I do not want to live in.

You can't say that for sure.

He can.  He did.  He's right.

Pft, maybe YOU think he's right but you can't invalidate my own opinion like that. That's not cool.

As for the elves, yes they are retarded, but I was thinking about the concept of making Elf Wars into a game by focusing on the -WAR- and not the elves.

Sorry, off topic.

I'd play a Command Mission 2 just to see how it is.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Xero on 1 April 2008, 17:06:39
The elf wars is going to focus on the elves.  The whole game will use elves.

Logic phail.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: TheRedPriest on 1 April 2008, 17:31:20
As for the elves, yes they are retarded, but I was thinking about the concept of making Elf Wars into a game by focusing on the -WAR- and not the elves.

Do you even understand how illogical that is?  The war revolves around the elfs in every way.  You can't not focus on something that's the focal point of the entire event.  I really can't think of any nice way to say that statement made you sound extremely ignorant.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Rama Olendris on 1 April 2008, 21:16:52
It seems you can't even begin to start to utilize your own imagination and ask 'What if'. If you can't even begin to do that- then you shouldn't say anything to invalidate my own  thoughts. I'm sorry if what I said earlier wasn't clear enough- I thought you would understand.

You don't know how the game play would be or what the true plot would be- for all we know the plot and what we know of the war would be 'modified' as Japanese love to do. (for better or worse will be up to debate, but it would most likely be for worse).

The war may circulate around the elves, but the GAME doesn't have to. Is it that hard to say "hey... that COULD be".

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Teelio on 1 April 2008, 22:15:36

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Xero on 1 April 2008, 22:39:52
So if the game is about the elf wars then....how the ##### does it not use elves.  It should be called the Omega Wars instead then.

Still logic fail.

Sorry Rema.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Rama Olendris on 1 April 2008, 22:48:22
Finally someone REMOTELY understands- the possible game revolves around the primary conflict and not the Elves. Elf Wars was only a reference to the major event in the series. I don't think the elves would be needed as much as people may think- call it the Omega Wars, Vile Wars, Apocalypse- whatever.

I'm ending this discussion now.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?

Actually, you could with immense pressure, but that would be one UGLY diamond!

I really don't think that even the pressure inside a black hole could turn poo into a diamond.

Anyway I see what Rama is trying to say but I still don't agree. I mean, just look at M.A.S.H. That show was about the Vietnam war but you never saw anything from the actual war so really it was about some soldiers and other [quite boring and unfunny] people who were at the scene of the war. Here's the ticker though, all they do is talk about the #####ing war! And it sucks!

You sit there and listen to people bitch and moan about a war they're supposedly in, which would be fine except you never get to see any war going on! And even if some sticky situations arise it's still assed up by them talking about 'Nam as if that's even the point of the show. And you sit there with a blank look on your face feeling dirty because this crap makes you not interested in the Vietnam war even though it was big #####ing deal and deserves attention. And you sit there letting that garbage show rape your brain. You sit there. You sit there and you watch.

It's like in The Simpsons when Poochy had his debut in The Itchy & Scratchy Show and they're outside the goddamn Fireworks Factory the whole time rapping about social issues as if anyone even cares. "When are they gonna get to the Fireworks Factory?!?!" That's right. Milhouse is right. Imagine that.

Now I've heard of people that like M.A.S.H. and I've met some, but they are WEIRD people in general. They should have just made it about SOME war that never happened so they didn't have to bring up 'Nam all the damn time.

If I'd have made M.A.S.H. I'd set it in space or some COOL sci-fi place since that was like the ##### for a TV show back in the day, make the warzone the characters are in superbad and megaawesome combined (like the hideout the M.A.S.K. guys, Hogan's Heroes, or the A-Team would use or something), and then make it so that if they do talk about the war they're in (in-between all the heavy drama of course) it's stuff that makes you go ":O OMFG awesome!" like when you learn some new craziness about the island in Lost. Now THAT'S an idea!

I equate this Elf Wars game with M.A.S.H. except with MMX characters. I understand that levels would be pretty much missions during the wider spread war and such things but the Elf Wars is what it IS, it has to be about the elves to exist so there's no avoiding them completely. And avoiding them partially still means they are in there, and they suck ass so that's no good.

In conclusion;

Lame M.A.S.H. character: "What a senseless war"
Mike: "SHYUTTTTTTTTTT-*dead*"

Dead. Dead from the stress embolism that popped in my brain because M.A.S.H. is crap and so can you.

:: wipes tear from eye ::

That sir, was beautifully put.  I understand what Rama was trying to say, but that doesn't change the fact it will still be about Elfs.  You could make it about X and Zero sitting in a bunker in Iceland while elfs kamakazi humans into dust, but it's still about the elfs, and if you DON'T focus on the elfs, which is what the war revolves around and play the major part in, WHY THE ##### ARE YOU MAKING A GAME SET DURING THIS ABORTION OF A PLOT POINT?

That's all we're saying.

In reply to the actual post, I would love to see a CM2, as to when it takes place, use it to tie up the X and Zero series. I know that a lot of you hate that series (zero that is) but I thought it was great. I really liked 2 and 4, and was bummed that they ended with 4 right when it was getting good. The concept of a RPG around the elf wars would be awesome, despite what anyone else says.

The concept of an RPG based around feces encrusted vagrants raping babies would be awesome, despite what anyone else says.

I can play that game too.  LET'S ALL PLAY THAT GAME GUYS!

The game doesn't actually exist. If you're not playing it, you can't win.
If you are playing it, you immediately lose, and therefore the game is over and you aren't playing any more.

All games must have a winning condition; this is a prerequisite of being a game in the first place. As we have seen in the plausible scenarios above, there is no winning condition; in fact, there is no winning condition stated in the rules, either. Thus, this thing collectively referred to as "the game" is not actually a game at all because it fails to meet the definition of a game.

So I ask you.
Just what is it that you're doing?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Mikero on 16 June 2008, 20:38:12
Being stupid. "The game" stuff isn't even funny or anything either.

I told a couple friends about it in a passing comment one day and we kind of played a long with it, albeit not seriously, for a bit but one guy was like actually into it or something because any time we'd even SAY the word "lost" or "game" he'd yell out "I just lost the game" no matter where we were and would, by rights, then cause us to 'lose' it. So we stopped it all and told him off. Then later on we were talking about how he kept #####ing up with it and annoying us and he tried to deny it.

##### that guy pisses me off. He's a frienemy, for sure.

I don't play the game.

You're always playing the game.

No, I'm not. Shut up.

I'm just kidding around. :P

My friends and I jokingly play the game, and one of them seriously is into it so I find ways for him to "lose" because its funny when he gets angry.

since "the game" is to not think about "the game." Wouldn't the winning condition be death?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?

I pitched an idea with my friends a long while back.

This was it: you install some sort of hi-tech microchip into your brain that can tell WHEN you're thinking about the game. For every second you are actively thinking about the game, a built-in timer counts down. You have a total of 24 hours on the counter.
When the counter reaches zero, meaning you have been thinking about, and thus losing, the game for a total of 24 net hours, an electric shock is emitted and kills you instantly.

THAT WOULD MAKE IT MORE FUN AND RELEVANT

Megaman was not designed to be a turn based RPG

Fair enough.

But then who said MegaMan was designed to be a real-time RPG?

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Chron on 18 June 2008, 04:44:51
Unless things drastically changed after the first game, then actually, it is turn based.
Every turn you select chips to use. In that turn you may use them and mash the fire button like a madman.

That bit might be confusing you about real time, but the fact of the matter is that you get turns and breaks in the action to decide on a simple strategy for your next turn of action.

Thus, turn-based. In real time there is no time to think and make a sammich.

Pausing the game isn't a forced break in action.

A battle where I punch you in the face, then I can't punch you again until you punch me is turn based, no matter how many punches are thrown.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Neo Arcadian Hero on 18 June 2008, 05:08:00
Yeah and in BN you could punch as many times as you want

Actually, when I heard about Command Mission, I thought the same thing sorta. I thought "this is doomed to failure, Mega Man doesn't mix with this". But you have to understand that some experiments with the formula can have a good outcome. Battle Network and Command Mission are pleasant surprises.

I'm pretty sure Capcom would throw a Command Mission 2 story in the garbage, but I'd like to play another one, even though I've yet to finish the first one. It's really fun.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Mikero on 18 June 2008, 06:03:33
MMBN is technically turn-based. Simply by the idea that there's strategy to it that you get to decide in a turn, and pause break from the actual action of fighting. While it's true you don't HAVE to press L or R to open the chip thing, that is a PRINCIPLE point of the game and much of the game revolves around the idea of strategizing in these turns. That is turn-based.

If the actual strategic decisions had to made while the action was happening, like in Legend Of Zelda games, that would not be turn based and would be more of an action adventure.

The fact of the matter is that the main part of the fighting in game is based on strategy (Program Advances, element types, etc.) and that said strategy happens in a break from the action called a turn. It's a turn. The game is turn based. Deal with it.

Actually, I should also point out that no one can move or attack during the chip selection phase. There are other turn based RPGs that do let this happen, which each character having their own time in between turns. Like Chrono Trigger, and even one or two of the newer FF games. You wouldn't dispute that these are turn based, yet they offered MORE action during their strategic phases than Battle Network ever did.

Also, aside from the horrid amount of random battles, sloppy designs, and clunkiness, Command Mission was great.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: ChaosVortex on 18 June 2008, 06:07:37
The great thing about Battle Network was you could take your sweet time with a turn. Your custom gauge was just there to keep you from spamming chips, so you'd have to dodge some attacks or compose a strategy during that time before the next turn.

BN5 is a different story, and I one of the reasons why I hate "liberating" areas.

Basically, I'm saying the early Battle Network was original, new, and really fun. Command Mission is the same. I have a friend who's really into RPGs and never played Command Mission. He watched a video about it and he was thought it was an amazing game.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Mikero on 18 June 2008, 06:09:52
The actual action of the fighting is as in-between as character animation on another turn-based RPG, except you just get to have more control over things like hit or miss qualifiers and "speed" (the tendency to attack first or last).

I wasn't into the whole idea of CM at first glance, but I loved it. Don't know if I'd play through it aaalll over again, but it was definitely good despite it's flaws. Story was great, if a bit weird.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: ChaosVortex on 18 June 2008, 06:12:45
Right. When I think turn based, I think it's going to be predictably boring. I'll attack, I'll be attacked, repeat. I totally forget those little elements in the game that make the RPG worth playing.

The little area on the bottom right helped me strategy-wise as well. I'd know when I'd have to recover health or strength.

EDIT: John, you should at least give BN1-3 a shot if possible. At least one. Preferably #2.

If you could find any of them at least. I can only find BN3 used. But that's just my area so he might be more lucky.

That would be X7, not Command Mission.

I used to see Battle Network 1 used at every Gamestop I went to a couple years back.

As soon as I realized how rare it was and that it was worth a lot more than it was going for at all those Gamestops, I stopped seeing it.

I'm seeing every type of BN game used (except for the BN5:DS version) at my Gamestop. I'm sure I saw BN1 as well, but there was only one copy. They had one brand new in the box when I was looking for it years back, but I didn't want to spend $30 on an old game.

I'm quite sure. I remember BN2 not having a price tag on it for some reason.

I love RPGs so I decided to get CM.

It was OK, but the energy system (Where you can do actions based on how much energy you had) I've seen before (don't remember now, I just remember that I've seen it before) and the turn based thing of it is pretty much a carbon copy of Final Fantasy 10's.

I stopped playing it after the third chapter or something.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Chron on 18 June 2008, 18:50:17
FF10 turn system is a poor imitation of the Grandia initiative system.
But FF games are always poor and never innovative.

Did you play Xenogears, Vinch? Energy thing sound a bit like the mech battles in that game.

Yeah, I've played Xenogears (as mentioned in that other thread) but Command Mission's is like an almost exact copy of the other one I'm thinking of.

It may have been a Real Time RPG, though, now that I think about it.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: Mikero on 18 June 2008, 20:30:12
Chapter 3 is like where the plot starts actually going somewhere, if I remember correctly. And yeah, CM's battles were a copy of the tenth FF, but as I hate the tenth FF I was OK with that, since I didn't get bored of that system (only playing one game using it).

Eh, Mario RPG was a better Mario RPG than Command Mission was a Mega Man X RPG.  Mario RPG's ONLY downside was (ironically) that it had so much original material and didn't use as much established Mario stuff.

Title: Re: Who wants an X Command mission 2?
Post by: ChaosVortex on 14 January 2009, 03:07:07
I'm playing Mario RPG right now and there are bits in the game where I feel disappointed just a tad and a bunch of other moments were I say, "Yeah! Right on!"

Maybe that's just me.

Also, I just now realized I don't like Metroid games in general. I've been playing Super Metroid and even though I get more enjoyment out of it than I did in Prime, I'm still pretty bored. Perhaps it's the whole "aliens" and "outer space" themes I'm against.
