I JUST DIED BECAUSE SIMON CAN'T JUMP FAR ENOUGH

He double jumps... But you can't control his jump in mid-air. They added the double jump to make it balanced, I guess.

So much easier.
Fire flower is beast.

I JUST DIED BECAUSE SIMON CAN'T JUMP FAR ENOUGH

Yes, Simon seems to be the weakest.

This is extremely good.

I wonder what the point in going Mario is though...?

I guess for the ability to play Super Mario Bros. 1 without the camera locking behind you, since apparently you can go backwards now.

This game is concrete proof that regardless of game world, spread shot rapes EVERYTHING.

When I tried playing as Mario in World 1-1, the game glitched, the floor disappeared, and it killed me.

At first I thought it was their way of saying "Why are you playing as Mario? PLAY AS SOMETHING ELSE" but I tried again and it was a glitch.

...wow, that's pretty cash.  Though I'd have prefered Mega Man get Metal Blade for his power up.

It's pretty awesome, but I can't seem to see myself when I'm charging my buster in the sky. I just turn invisible and I can't see where I am unless I fire.

I seem to be the only one experiencing the glitches, maybe.

EDIT: And a weird sliding (but not dangerous) glitch in World 3-3 between two "tree" platforms.

EDIT: Certain bricks in World 5-2, because if they were broken, then the gap below them would be impossible to jump across.

The best flash game ever is getting better!

I want Radd Spencer!

I only liked playing it with MM.

It has ruined me for the actual game.

The guy who made it says he's going to fix most of the glitches in the game, including the one where you charge in the sky and turn invisible.

He says he's also going to fix Mega Man's slide supposedly so you can cancel it mid-slide and not run into enemies by accident. His jumping will also be fixed to where you're not jumping super high, but still be able to reach everything. I'm speculating Rush Coil.

Article about the creator of the game (http://www.gamexplain.com/article-97-1274832275-super-mario-bros-crossover-xplained-an-interview-with-the-creator-ninja-edition.html). If you had a question about the game, check it here. It may have been answered.

What I found interesting (and were questions of my own) were these:

GameXplain: I have to ask...now that Ryu's finished, who's next? Do you plan on adding more content/characters, or was Ryu an exception?

Jay Pavlina: I put in Ryu right away to show people that the game is going to be updated. I plan on updating the game until it reaches my original vision. The game is in a very early state right now, that’s why I was surprised how many people like it. But I guess you guys have no way of knowing what it will ultimately be. There will be a lot of content added.

GameXplain: Due to their similarities, have you considered expanding the Super Mario Bros. Crossover concept to include the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2, more commonly known to US gamers as The Lost Levels?

Jay Pavlina: Well that’s a very interesting question, isn’t it? I guess you’ll just have to wait and see.

Ugh. The guy made a flash game everyne has thought of and so I'm supposed to care what he thinks about junk 'n stuff? I liked the game but I barely care about what people with original ideas think about junk 'n stuff.

Just saying, internet is stupid.

I always read interviews or articles about people I respect or admire.

As for this guy, I do think the game is pretty cool but from what I've read interview-wise he kind of sounds like a douchey guy. That could be completely off, though.

Post by: Mikero on 8 June 2010, 00:34:41
I respect "his" game because we've all wanted it done, but I don't see him as a creator or anything so really he'd just a guy to me.

Title: Re: Super Mario Bros. Crossover.
Post by: ChaosVortex on 8 June 2010, 01:56:27
I'm just interested in the game, not the creator. As far as I can tell, I'm with ASR. He's really immature.

For the record, when I said this I totally did not mean it in regards to this guy. I don't care about this guy.

I probably would've had more respect for him, had he not posted videos about him on the internet.

Totally called it on the Rush Coil. It's available June 25th. Trailer includes updates on "everyone" except Ryu.

Is anybody else having trouble with Ryu? There's something wrong with the controls. They seem to lock up. At the worst of times, Ryu won't move, jump, or attack and get killed... or he'll continue walking right without any other response until he dies.

Version 2.0 has been announced:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lE1K9yNDNA8&feature=channel_video_title

My thoughts:
It's a bit surprising that Bass is the next new playable character. I'm sure most people were expecting someone like Pit, Kirby, or even NES Batman. It was a nice little surprise. Of course Luigi being included was inevitable. From the looks of the trailer he doesn't really seem interesting enough to play as too much (especially since Bass is going to be included). But hey, it's Luigi.

The new skins feature for the characters and level layouts are also a great way to expand the game, especially since you can submit your custom skins for each character.

I can't wait for the Level Editor mode that's going to be in the last version of the game.
What do you guys think?

Having the level editor mode available would make me want to play it. Until then, nah.

I still get enjoyment out of SMBX (the one made in visual basic, I think). I check the community from time to time, grab a completed episode, play it through. It's like Mario on demand.

Why the ##### would anyone expect NES Batman?
Luigi, Kirby, and Bass make sense. Especially Kirby, although he might break the game with his floating.

As usual, I'm with Majikn on the level editor tip.
