Title: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Xero on 21 June 2009, 13:39:53
Today, at the World Hobby Fair, Capcom officially announced "Rockman.EXE Operator Shooting Star" for the Nintendo DS scheduled to release in 2009.

##### you Capcom.  ##### you.

I don't get it.

Like... Mega Man from Battle Network is somehow going to appear? Wha?

...also... God dammit Capcom.

I laugh at the guy on stage.

And yeah that's absolutely stoooooooopid.

Sadly, I would've accepted a new BN game, but not another SF game. But now it's BOTH. GREEEEAT.

I wonder what the localized name will bee.. will they cave in and call it Mega Man.EXE StarForce, or
MEGA MAN BATTLE NETWORK STAR FORCE OPERATOR BAT##### BITCHES

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 21 June 2009, 19:53:35
Seems like a game to bridge BN and Star Force.

I don't care, either way.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 21 June 2009, 21:36:56
They look reaaaaally happy holding hands with each other.

Oh, and I CANNOT wait to see Rez's opinion on this.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 21 June 2009, 21:53:46
I really don't think he'll care much.

We all know that new BN and Star Force are crap, it's not like anything is getting ruined here. It's not even remotely surprising.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 22 June 2009, 00:38:45
Oh, and I CANNOT wait to see Rez's opinion on this.

You practically just heard it. What Mike said sounds like what he'd say in a nutshell.

Anyway, I looked at this and I thought, "Um. Okay? Why?"

BCUZ STARFORCE SAELS ARE BAD AND TO HALP BOOST THE MEGAMNA ECONOMY WE NEEDS TO ADd FAKE HYPE

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: preventerWIND on 22 June 2009, 05:25:41
Maybe they thought if they put more MegaMan into a game, they would get more sales.

1. MOAR MEGAMAN
2. ???
3. Fail.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 22 June 2009, 05:32:45
In all seriousness, we know it'll sell, sadly... so profit would've worked.

If only the rest of the world would agree to what you guys are saying...

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 8 July 2009, 19:47:08
Unless people are REALLY bad at translating interviews, apparently this game is actually a BN1 remake... and if thats true, there'll probably be a lame ass StarForce extra or whatever.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 8 July 2009, 22:54:30
WHY do they remake things that aren't even old?

GAWRD.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: TheOnly on 8 July 2009, 23:39:27
it's CAPCON were talking about here, they do stupid ##### that just don't add up half the time.

And yes, I put CAPCON on purpose.

EDIT: Fixed.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 9 July 2009, 04:06:53
If it's a remake of the 1st Battle Network, I'll buy it for sure.

Just not anytime soon. I need all the cash I can get, and I think it's fair to boycott this junk. It is just a remake afterall. I already own the original version.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 9 July 2009, 08:02:12
CAPCON

Crapcon. If you're gonna joke, go big or go home.

And yes, I put CAPCON on purpose.

Did you put "stupis" on purpose?

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: TheOnly on 10 July 2009, 23:38:38
This is maybe a stupid question, but is the remake the apperant "buzz" about a new MegaMan series in the making?

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 11 July 2009, 01:27:26
Oh, probably.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 11 July 2009, 23:46:13
It's apparently the "revival".

...

Could've been worse.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: TheOnly on 11 July 2009, 23:57:53
Reivial...why not revive a bad series and give it an improvment overhaul...like the Zero series-.-".

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 12 July 2009, 02:47:00
That's how it could've been worse.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: TheOnly on 12 July 2009, 03:15:56
AAHHH WHAT?!?! Not even if they decide to make up a whole new story line at least???

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 12 July 2009, 06:36:05
Then it's not a revival, is it?

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 12 July 2009, 06:44:10
Redoing the Zero series would've been like redoing the X series. Look at Maverick Hunter X.

It would've been worse.

And THIS is the revival they were talking about? I thought that was Mega Man 9.

Mega Man 9 is a better choice fellas...

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 12 July 2009, 06:50:50
Yes it is. That's why they made it.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 12 July 2009, 06:52:56
Well, I meant that as in: They should focus on making more of THAT than more of THIS.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Fatso on 12 July 2009, 10:25:34
I'm glad they're taking their time making/announcing MM10 (or even not making it at all) rather than rushing it out to hastily cash in on their success. Deadlines are the mortal enemy of quality.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Mikero on 13 July 2009, 02:42:03
Not always, but in this case yeah.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...

Maybe they thought if they put more MegaMan into a game, they would get more sales.

1. MOAR MEGAMAN
2. ???
3. Fail.

Ironically it's because they fail to do just that. More MegaMan != Another MegaMan

I kind of liked Maverick Hunter X though. And with my brother's financial situation I might get a chance to own it if he's willing to sell his PSP (I'm already buying the XBox 360 off him).

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 7 August 2009, 21:49:49
*sigh* This is starting to become exactly what I feared. No upgrade to the graphics apparently, except mugshots (which might actually be a good thing, since BN1-3's sprites were a LOT better than BN4-6, SF's)

I swear, if you can't play as MegaMan.EXE or in BN's Battle Style I'm not gonna get this piece of #####. Remake my ass. They're ruining one of favorite games.

Oh, and new Navi. ClockMan. Why they didn't just call him TimeMan I'll never know.

You mean Clockman.exe.
Please, Nova.
With property.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 7 August 2009, 22:17:52
Does it really matter that much?

...anyway, according to RPM, you can play as both of them, but I didn't read that in MMN's article on it, so I'm not sure if that's confirmed or not.

... anyway, I find it hilarious they just went and edited MegaMan.EXE's overworld to make the Star Force one.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: GMG on 8 August 2009, 00:06:01
I don't see why everyone is so negative about it. Sure, there's a chance SF will ruin BN, but what if BN saves SF from its current state of suckage?

Impossible.

Point taken. Even though it's a remake of the first, NOT the 4th+, they could easily screw it up. Now that I think about it, what the hell can timeman's navichip do? Pause time when it uses its attack? Oh wait, IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO THAT.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: TheRedPriest on 9 August 2009, 22:38:59
Even though it's a remake of the first

... this isn't even close to a REMAKE.  It's "let's replay BN1 by shoving Star Force ##### into it as we do".  This effort, and I use the term VERY loosely, looks to be one of the most lazy ventures Capcom has ever done.  I really liked BN1, so I'll replay that if I want to actually play the game again.  This, whatever the ##### it's suppose to be, game looks like it just took a copy of BN1 and rubbed ##### all over it and called it a new game/sequal/remake.  Oh Capcom, when will you stop trolling us....

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 10 August 2009, 03:12:42
I can't tell if they're actually rubbing crap in it personally, but they're definitely just rubbing something in it, rather than create.

Therefore, I don't see how this will be much good or in anyway not be a repeat of MMPU and MHX.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 10 August 2009, 05:19:33
The guy who's behind this game said it was a remake... so I'm just HOPING... that this is just what happens when you pick Geo from some sort of character select screen instead of Lan/MegaMan.EXE, and picking Lan just gives you a good remake of BN1 with no Star Force interruptions... maybe something extra post-game.

Of course, I can see this not happening at all.

EDIT: gdjghg

On the bright side, we now know what the hell Star Force has to do with Megaman. Whatever the hell BN has to do with Megaman. My only guess is that they're both in X's head when he's in the capsule between the original series and when Dr. Cain finds his capsule.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 13 August 2009, 17:35:09
1) It most likely can't be in X's head because Zero is in the BN series. He never met him prior to his creation and sealing in the capsule. Plus nothing in the BN series supports your claim whatsoever so it's really random.

2) Inafune already STATED that there are two separate universes. Here, I'll list them below.

Classic > X > Zero > ZX > Legends
Battle Network > Star Force

In short, that theory is INCREDIBLY stupid.

AND MMZ?!
Now I need to play ZX only for the story.

You missed the part about how that means that in X's head there's an organic world and a digital world. I could understand him thinking this if ONLY the digital virus busting portion of the game existed, but the games make it CLEAR there's a real world there too.

Yeah, for the longest time, I thought Legends was in a different universe. It was perfectly fine too.

Then they announced ZX and their plans to bridge the two series.

Ask Rez. Him and his anger will confirm it.

Zero was made by Wily. If he wasn't complete when Wily died, then there would be nobody to finish his work (unless Bass suddenly gets a change of heart, that is). Therefore, Zero was finished while he was alive. Therefore, Zero may appear in a future Classic game.

1) That in no way, in any shape or form, supports your crumbling theory. If anything that supports the "cataclysm theory", which Inafune ALSO said was false. The only thing you seem to be proving is your lack of knowledge with the X series.

2) Your signature is way too large.

Robots making robots? That's actually in fact totally completely blasphemy for robots.

Also about the signature, usually banners are links too. Not that I was going to go there, but if I was the sort of person who would go there I probably would still be the sort of person who would and does need that be a link.

ALSO ABOUT THE SIGNATURE, decide if you like Bass.EXE or Bass, because it's clashing with your avatar. But really, your whole outfit is too matchy-matchy as it is.

BATTLE SCREEN SHOT

http://protodudesrockmancorner.blogspot.com/2009/08/more-oss-screenshots-battle-field.html

It looks exactly the same as the original game's battle scenes but with BN2/3's chip usage system (10 chips instead of 15).

Yeah, I saw that.

So the game might actually be fun, gameplay wise. Hopefully * codes will be back.

Some people were commenting on this in MMN and were like "omg i hate teh codes they make it hard for me to make folders!!11"

EDIT: And apparently it's the same way with some of the people in that link you posted...

... people actually LIKE Star Force... and MORE than BN1-3? What the ##### kind of world do we live in?

Game still looks awful.  If I want to play BN1, I'll play the original version w/o the SF #####ry in it and with a much better (if not broken) chip/battle set up.

I can't see from the blur, but is the add button still there?

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: TheRedPriest on 1 September 2009, 14:58:04
And, unless I'm mistaken, we've not heard any music yet.  If they remix/arrange the games music to take advantage of the DS, if they go with what they used for BN5DS, ##### that.  The remixes for the older games were #####asticly bad.  BN1's battle theme (the best one by a mile) sounded like #####.  They butchered the tone, tempo and sound of it all together.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 1 September 2009, 16:40:50
It'll probably either be that or Star Force's #####ty spacey sounds... which would be God awful.

But I would actually not even be surprised if they don't remix the music "just to make it more nostalgic", despite the fact they're killing the game with something full of fail.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...

BN2 has the best title theme.

Mega Man 2 has the best title theme.

If you want to, go there, click the game's... image. ignore the #####ty flash "teaser" and click the second... video on the left side of the screen for some interview with the director or whatever. In the background you can hear what is probably gonna be the DS remix of the BN1 Title Theme.

It sounds okay in my opinion. But it sounds BN5-ish. Or maybe Network Transmission-ish... which might be good.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...

It sounds lifeless?

Yeah, that sounds about right.

The only one I saw there had the title screen theme and one other that I don't recall whre it was used, but neither was the battle theme.

Post by: ChaosVortex on 4 September 2009, 02:47:35
Rez, that was both the same title screen you heard. It cuts out into two parts. Turn on your MMBN1 game and don't press anything to hear it all (or just listen to the mp3, I'm sure you have it).

It doesn't really sound flat, but it's doesn't sound great either. Just okay. I would like the original one better.

Post by: TheRedPriest on 4 September 2009, 03:22:56
Oh yes, the title screen fade.  I forgot it goes on after the bit.  What confused me is that it was said that was the battle theme from BN1, which it was not.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 4 September 2009, 07:05:28
I still distinctively remember the Battle Theme, so I knew it wasn't there as well.

But rereading posts... who said it was the Battle Theme? Nova says Title screen right there, but I could've sworn I read that too. I think both of our eyes are failing or something.

Without going back to check posts I'll say I'm pretty sure I read "title theme" in Nova's post earlier.

Well, I just can't wait for them to remake MMZ1.

INCLUDES:
- Vent and Aile from MMZX with their ZX models and other useless ZX things!
- No real effort!

The good news? Their sprites are already ##### remakes of Zero's.  SEAMLESS!
The bad news? The #####ing ranking system is still here!

Looks like the gameplay improved just a tiny bit to me.

But it's still practically nothing. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJw1izqIP4g)

Oh wow. They used his Mugshot from BN3 instead of making a new one.

Also, same music? Game is worthless now.

I'm just glad that stop-time chips actually do damage during the time they've stopped moving, and not after. It kinda adds to the fun when your opponent is getting smacked around. It would've been a little nice to have the Star Force theme in GBA-esc music though, or Battle Network in Star Force (mainly the former).

Why "mainly the former"? I wouldn't want any Starforce anything in BN, especially music.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 16 October 2009, 18:19:08
It's just an idea, but I'm still not into this game.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 26 October 2009, 00:32:37
So, I listened to the themes they had in the demo.

No, it's not the same music, it's actually worse. It's dull.

Hah, this better just be a placeholder for the real music. Or else this is the biggest joke of a Mega Man game they've made since Battle Chip Challenge.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 26 October 2009, 02:31:00
It sounds the same to me, but since the GBA has 1 speaker and the DS has two, I'd take a guess and say that might have something to do with it and they might have modified it...

It's still Star Force AND a remake, so I will boycott.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 26 October 2009, 03:27:18
A remake would mean they're upgrading it with new graphics, music, etc.

This has none. The only thing it has is * coded chips. Even the Add button works the same.

It's a port with an extra scenario thrown in. And Chaos, it has nothing to do with the speakers, the instruments are different, but they're horrible.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 26 October 2009, 03:38:31
I'm only saying that because I have no idea what you're talking about.

Just go here and have a listen if you want. (http://www.themmnetwork.com/2009/10/24/the-music-of-operate-shooting-star/)

Apparently the guy making this wants to continue, so that means BN2's gonna get #####ed up with StarForce retardation too.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...

I still can't tell much of a difference, but I do sense it. Especially with the internet theme.

The original is still better.

MEGAMAN ZERO:  ZX MISSION

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 11 December 2009, 20:32:56
AND THE ZX SCENARIO LASTS 10 MINUTES AND IS ONLY ONE EXTRA MISSION!

That Star Force part in this game is only 30 minutes long at the most. Pretty sad since they advertised it like it was SO BIG. The rest is a port of BN1 with no armors, and #####ty downgraded music.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 12 December 2009, 00:13:50
I haven't played it, but if I could post what Nova Man told me over AIM about it, it's this:

"It's not bad, just not worth the $30+"

In other words, it's a waste of your money. As for a waste of time, you be the judge.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 12 December 2009, 00:58:44
I don't think I said it was worth playing, since it's BN1 all over again, I just said it wasn't a BAD game by any means... but I already own the game for the GBA.

AND they "fixed" some elements of gameplay.  And by fixed I mean nerfed.  ##### that.  If I want game breakingly broken folders and ADD ADD ADD ADD ADD I will damn well have it.  Internet maps are not worth the gimping.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: ChaosVortex on 14 December 2009, 21:13:45
I think I only liked the ADD button change, although at the same time I never cared for 15 chips. I'm okay with 10.

What at LEAST needed to be changed was damaging when you use a chip that freezes time. When they started doing that in BN2, the game felt a lot smoother.

All they did was make your opponent "shake" when they were hit.

I'm sure the game is good (and that's being fairly nice), but why would you play it when there are better games out there? The original one still does a better job.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 15 December 2009, 05:40:25
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the folder rules changing!

They decided to give us the BN3+ rules, yet we still get BN1's pretty bleh library, leading to an annoying folder editing process.

Also, the ADD button was ruined. I was hoping it'd be like BN2's, but they COMBINED BN1's and BN2's into an almost useless option, since you only get to choose from 10 for that one turn.

Wow....

I hope the game isn't as bad as it looks. This could be a really cool game, but probably not.

Music is depressing.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: NovaMan XP on 23 December 2009, 22:45:33
It's pretty bad. There's no justifying it. You'll get a better deal buying MMBN1 for the GBA, it's cheaper, the music is better, and the armors aren't removed. Paying full price for a game that was made 8 years ago is a complete ripoff.

Not to mention the whole entire sales pitch was Star Force, and the amount of SF in the game was about 30 minutes at the most. Which goes to show just how much work they put into the game.

Thankfully, it sold like #####. So HOPEFULLY we WON'T see BN2 get assraped with this crappy porting.

Title: Re: Get ready to rage...
Post by: Hikari on 23 December 2009, 22:52:26
BN2 was epic. If they make a crappy remake they'll only push the point that Capcom has no soul.

I've never played BN1 though, should probably pick it up at Gamestop sometime.

Good luck finding it.

MMBN3 is probably the easiest to find, and I am not aware of any legal downloading of GBA games on ANY system as of YET...

And as for a quick search, lacking dedication, online... I did not find one entry with a price through E-bay, nor Google.

DSi needs some GBA Virtual Console. Eventually.

Also, if it's in your area, getting it for $6 at GameStop would be a good deal. (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=16403)

There was a MMBN1 still in the box, unopened, at the Gamestop near me. I wonder if it's still there.

I wonder if I should buy it for collector purposes.

I used to have the boxes for BN1 and 2 (still have BN3's) but my parents threw them away even after I told them NOT to.

Not sure if I still have the manuals for them though. They're probably in one of my drawers buried somewhere...

The only game boxes I don't still have were from second-hand or borrowed-but-never-returned games. I think.

My Gamestop has all the MMBN games, for the win.

I have the boxes and manuals of both versions of MMBN6 in Japanese, but not really as awesome as MMBN2/3.

What are Battletoads? o.o
