Disappointing that Cameron failed to nail the story part of the movie, but it's good to see him back at the forefront of the technological aspect. I'll have to go see that if I can find a 3-D theatre around here

THIS IS not as good as Megaman X9
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
CLASSIC SERIES >>>>>>>>>>>>> X SERIES
In general I'd agree, but X1 is my favourite platformer OF all time FOR all time. But yeah, if they made X9 it'd end up having that one guy I don't even want to name, which would bog down the game immensely. EDIT: Read that joystiq article, and this jumped right out at me: uniquely painful experience of trying to complete an NES Mega Man title. What are these guys smoking? MM games were the EASY platformers on the NES

Sucks anyway. How much do harp strings cost to replace?

I'm 19 today. Doesn't feel any different from being 18, although I'm supposed to have magically become mature enough to hold my liquor overnight.

The 64 had its share of great games, too... just a smaller share. Biggest problem it had (the same problem the PSX had, in fact) was the growing fad of 3D games and the fact that 3D technology still hadn't reached the level necessary for truly beautiful visuals in such games.
But shot for shot, I still maintain the SNES has the best library of any non-PC game platform in history.

Cloud cover means I'm probably going to miss it unless the sky magically clears up between now and the end of my shift.
But I remember the last time they predicted a high-intensity Leonid shower, we sat outside for like an hour and saw maybe two (they'd predicted 100-200 per hour in BC), so I might not be missing much after all.

What I've seen of Borderlands looks fun, but I'm still undecided on the purchase.
I don't like the leveling-up part because it means that unless the game is PERFECTLY balanced I'll have to spend some time grinding (especially since I tend to play quickly even on my first playthrough), which is eww. I do like the visual style, and the control and physics seem pretty good as well.
Anyways, none of this is happening until I build a computer.

SEVEN MONTHS LATER... I haven't been updating this thread, but I have been semi-demi-active musically. Most of what I've been doing has been pretty much just dicking around though and really not worthy of publishing. But a few days ago I gave the full version of the Chip-Tuned Rockman album a spin, and decided I could probably do a more appealing Ground Man cover than the mixer did. So for the first time ever I've finished something I started in FamiTracker (also the first time using a lot of the functionality of FT so it might not sound as good as it could but I'm still reasonably proud of it) and can present to you: Rockman & Forte - Ground Man Stage (NES-ized) http://colonelfatso.webs.com/groundman.mp3http://colonelfatso.webs.com/groundman.nsfMP3 rendering and NSF raw synth data are both available. I noticed a couple of sound artifacts in the MP3 rip so Winamp/Chipamp users should pick up the NSF for best results, but ultimately it doesn't really matter. Important to note is the fact that I used the Konami VRC6 expansion chip in the module so this is technically not an authentic American NES sound (American NES cannot use music expansion chips) ALSO: I've done some midi-stuffs for various sequencing/composition projects. These aren't nearly as cool so they won't get the kind of spiel I gave up there. Download these and play them in MSGS (default windows midi synth) if you can, although quicktime should be not-so-horrible with most of them as well. Front Mission: Gun Hazard - "Blue Sky ~ Blue Sky" - sequenced when I was bored one day Following three were sequenced for a great big project to fill up FMGH's index entry on VGMusic: Front Mission: Gun Hazard - "Violent Chase"Front Mission: Gun Hazard - "Sentinel"Front Mission: Gun Hazard - "Silencer"And the last is an original I composed for a contest (while it didn't score last place, it was fairly low in the ranks, so listener beware): The Ocean Depths (generic name for theme of the week in question)So yeah. Posted on: October 21, 2009, 11:25:28 PM
A NEW CONTENT APPROACHES! I'm in love with FamiTracker and especially that Konami VRC6 expansion chip right now, so I pounded out another cover today. It turned out fairly well, although there are some nagging balance issues. Mega Man X, Fortress Stage 1: NSFMP3Again would prefer downloading the NSF to save my bandwidth and because of recording artifacts (I've come to the conclusion that my laptop's sound card simply sucks and this is the best I'll be getting from it).

I won't be buying Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, not because it looks like it'll be a bad game (would love to play it actually) but because they took out dedicated server support.
Dedicated servers are the ONLY reason to play online multiplayer in a shooter, otherwise it's meaningless bull##### and I would rather play with my real friends or even alone (or not at all). Without the sense of community you get from your regular server or servers of play, the game leaves little to come back to later. Replay value is definitely going to hurt unless they get off their asses and redo the netcode to allow dedicated servers.
I could rant endlessly about this, but I'd really rather not, since the REST of the game looks rather fine and I'm sure I'll find a way to play through the campaign one of these days. But I suggest anyone who preordered a PC copy of the game immediately cancel.

I'm afraid I saw it and contemplated buying it.
I played KH:CoM, and KH2, but I'm afaid the Kingdom hearts franchise has not really left me wanting more...
...than my money back.
No one saw it but he put on a pair of sunglasses in there.
Do I hear "Won't Get Fooled Again" playing?

True, but still.
Far Cry 2. Twice the brown, half the unique gameplay experiences. Fun for what it is, but worth only about $20-30 despite a "40-50 hour" single-player mode thanks to a complete lack of variety.

Something might be wrong with me, because nobody else seems to love bad like I love bad.
Not necessarily, I had a blast watching Troll 2 in a large group the other day. EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE LECTURE HALL joined in for the "oh my goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooood" line

You clearly didn't hear the Ground Man, which is more of an arrangement than a 'remix'
Actually pretty much sounds like it would if RnF's soundtrack had been composed for a Konami game with the VRC6 expansion chip

How is any of that too much for "DLC" to handle when they ##### out new Fallout 3 content like gangbusters?
Even if it was too much, they could break it up into two download packs.
Because the Fallout 3 "downloadable content" is 20 bytes of registration data that unlocks ##### THEY ALREADY PUT IN THE DISC, or at least the first round of it was. And of course I could also be wrong and be thinking of the wrong game, cause I don't own it or any Bethesda game since the mid-90s

They all seem horribly broken to me, but then again I haven't played the game for about seven years so I'm sure those kind of outrageous effects are par for the course by now. But a deck with a few of those cards would have raped EVERYTHING back in the first four or so card series.
Anyways, cool stuff and seems to be well thought out.

I'm a little disappointed by the object library in Scribblenauts, it seems a lot more limited than I was hoping for. Plus, whoever thought it would be a great idea to use the same controls to manipulate objects as you do to MOVE in an environment WITH TRIPWIRES THAT WILL SCREW YOU OVER IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY MISS THE OBJECT YOU'RE TRYING TO MOVE GOOOOODDAMMIT needs to be sternly reprimanded. Still a great puzzle platformer.

TF2 is very fun, but that doesn't make it a) the best game ever (TIE Fighter), b) the best first-person shooter ever (Jedi Knight), c) the best team-based shooter ever (Tribes) or even d) the best Source engine shooter ever (original all the way). Still, very enjoyable and worth every dollar I spent on it and more.
EDIT: Oops, I accidentally too broad with my genre classifications

A few weeks back, something clicked in the back of my head during some random conversation and I decided to go look up Charlie Jade again (The average American, unfortunately, has never heard of this show) after neglecting to properly keep up with it during its original run four years ago.
It's now the only series I've ever finished then gone straight back to the beginning to watch all the way through again. It is seriously amazing, provided you pay attention (casual viewers will just get confused), and it's only twenty episodes, so like 15 hours of runtime.
Highly suggest you check it out if you have a lot of time to kill (it shows up on surfthechannel but I don't know whether any of the links work, and good luck ever getting a region 1 DVD set - it's not happening)
