Title: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 4 December 2007, 01:45:26
Who else bought it off of the Virtual Console and instantly fell in love with it?
...Then creamed their pants when they saw that Saki would be an assist trophy in Brawl?
I mean, how awesome is an off the rail rail shooter that originally never came to America but for some reason had English voices? Did I mention the gameplay is incredibly satisfying? Come on, somebody else must've played this game!

I downloaded it, and hated it.

For some reason I was expecting this topic to be about the anime 'Death Note'...

Really not sure why.

GTFO my Topic if you're not going to talk about Sin and Punishment.

Everyone likes to sin and punish. Especially 90% of Vatican staff.

How about the game?

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: SB on 4 December 2007, 02:50:25
Played it, and agree with ASR in the fact that I disliked it. I can get the fact that it offers an arcade game experience from that point in time on a home console, but the controls on the Wii are just WAAAAAY too wonky to gain any real enjoyment from. Though I did see a good chunk of potential for this game to become a "Wiimake" down the road, since it could use a bit faster gameplay, given your character is on the slow and somewhat unresponsive side, and it could greatly benefit from the Wii Remote point and kill method.

No, someone else was talking about it earlier.

Satan does.

From the looks of it... Yes.

Don't worry, San-San, sometimes games just don't age well, like Battle Network.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: Captain Sanoguchi on 4 December 2007, 02:58:39
Battle Network was bad straight out of the womb, it didn't need to age.

No. It got better.

But then, someone dropped the baby on the head.

Don't worry, Sano, I know tons of others who also like it.

Dude, Vinni, do you agree that Sin and Punishment might be the prequel to Halo, I mean seriously, look at the Volunteer Military, their all in Spartan Armor for God's sake.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?

Err, well, Sin and Punishment was made in Japan and Halo was made in America.

...

Uhhh...

I bought the game and was unimpressed, but it's OK.

It's good, but not as good as it's made out to be.

It's good that they're doing imports though.

I can't believe I missed Lost Levels before it went away.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: ASR on 4 December 2007, 21:20:17
Did you? Yeah, I heard it was only temporary in Europe. That really sucks.

I was given some 10,000 Wii points a while back and have 400 left over.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: NovaMan XP on 4 December 2007, 21:30:42
Why would they make it temporary in Europe? That's retarded.

I'm glad I got Lost Levels though. Even though I'm stuck on World 3.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: ASR on 4 December 2007, 21:40:41
It was "Limited Edition" or something. It's beyond me why they would do that.

Lost Levels is gone? Damn, glad I bought it as soon as I saw it.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?

It's gone in Europe. I think it's still up in the US/Japan Wii Shop channels.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: ASR on 4 December 2007, 23:56:31
It is, permanently. For some reason it was only Limited Edition there.

Nintendo doesn't like Europe?

When the Wii Shop gets upgraded to have Gifts available to be sent, I'll send you one Abe.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: NovaMan XP on 5 December 2007, 02:38:17
Hey, good idea!

I'm wondering how that works, do you BOTH get the game, or do you give the game to another person and not get it? I'm guessing you give it to someone and you don't get it at all..

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: ASR on 5 December 2007, 02:39:07
Obviously. Otherwise everyone would just send gifts.

But wait, is this real? Link me.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: SB on 5 December 2007, 02:52:48
Virtual Console is Region Locked, hence Europe had Breath of Fire II before the US did, and they currently have Megaman 1 while we do not, so I doubt we can buy and send a game to him with the new feature.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 5 December 2007, 03:30:50
Well, when we send the games we have to choose from a list of our Wii Friends... and since we can add people from around the world I'm sure it'll work when we send the games.

And the first link (http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/10/26/revealed-new-wii-shop-gift-feature/) searching for "Wii Gift Shop" on Google talks about this.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: ASR on 5 December 2007, 03:59:53
SB, there's a HUGE difference between Region Locking and what you just said.

Region Locking usually refers to software such as DVD's and videogames. NTSC products work only on American hardware, and each region has their own code for their own products.

Still, I doubt it'd let you transfer VC games to other regions, because several of them aren't released yet or never will be across the globe. The release schedules are different, as are the ratings systems, which would cause legal issues.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: Chron on 5 December 2007, 04:04:47
You can lock regions on the software, since the Wii consoles have their own region type as well.

It is easily possible.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: ASR on 5 December 2007, 04:09:10
I never said it wasn't possible, but we have no way of knowing that in the first place because software only works ON the Wii it's downloaded to.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: Chron on 5 December 2007, 04:17:08
Fair enough.

The discs are hardware, by the way.
The data on them is the software.

No, do go on, I'm not not a big fan of double-negatives. I don't not love triple-negatives either, and I love hating to love quadruple-negatives.

Title: Re: Sin and Punishment?
Post by: Chron on 5 December 2007, 04:47:42
Alright, but if we're not going into doubles and were talking about triples, then do we try to correctly identify the absolute truth value or sense the proper meaning and infer the truth, if and only if we can identify every proposition made properly without attempting to confuse the probable negation of any statement using a wide variety of clausal forms that are almost certainly not legal English?

Because if we are, I'm going to have to break out the discrete math book.
And I don't want to do that. Bad memories.

Yeah, it has complete English voice acting, like the original version, don't whine about the subtitles.

You went double-negative, double-negative, single-negative.
