Title: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: preventerWIND on 19 March 2008, 03:07:58
Apparently MegaMan Powered Up, or more appropriately RockMan RockMan since this is in Japan, is making a huge comeback. How huge? Well the sales suddenly bursted in the last month or so, and now it's near the top as one of the most selling games at E-Capcom. It's even selling more than Devil May Cry 4!.. Dunno how this happened really, DMC4 is like the biggest Capcom game coming out this year, and it already out sold it.

This might mean MMPU might get another chance at a sequel..

Da story (http://protodudesrockmancorner.blogspot.com/2008/03/rockman-rockman-selling-like-hotcakes.html)

I hope this makes MMPU2 comes out. My favourite MegaMan game.

Just hope they don't butcher some stuff. :(

I already swore off PSP... bad news for me, but in the form of good news.

I really don't want to have to play it again.

*sigh*

If they make a sequel on the PSP... my wallet is gonna cry.

This is indeed something to look forward to.

I just hope they improve it and not screw with it too much.

I have 2 reasons why I won't buy this game.

1. Its for the PSP.
2. Megaman's Head to way to big.

Why does Capcom Insist on making the original Megaman look so crappy? Ever since MM8 everything has gone downhill.

Megaman 8 was a good game, but I meant graphically.

MMPU was a good game. Who cares about the graphics anyway?

Besides, I love chibi MegaMan. <.< Would you rather have a midget MegaMan? They have to make it feel like the original game.

MMPU is, in my opinion, the best MegaMan game.

If they do make a sequel this will give me reason enough to get a PSP, I barely played MHX and MPU, so I'd like to play them.. as well as an MPU2

I can't wait to play as the MM2 robot masters!  I'm looking forward to Metalman and Quickman in particular.  ...For no particular reason, now that I think about it.

Nobody said anything about this game coming out.

In fact, I'd better money that it never will.

Hope always works!

Maybe Capcom will think: "Well, it took two #####ing years for it to sell alot, so let's release it on the Wii and see if it sells faster."

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: TheRedPriest on 22 March 2008, 00:39:34
MMPU wasn't bad, but I thought the NES games actually had a LOT tighter gameplay.  And I didn't like the style for the stages, a big floating BG with the foreground missing a "back wall" that you could see it.

But I'd still buy MMPU2.  As long as they FIX the robot master modes so the game is balanced when you play with them.  Some of the RMs in MMPU are hard as ##### soly because stage design/boss encounters are not adjusted to take into account how them move/attack.

I don't even know if you'll be able to play as the bosses. They were created by Wily, so why would they convert?..

It's a game. They could just say Dr. Light reprogrammed them for good.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!

And royally mess up the story again? Well, It's to be expected, but not wanted.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: TheRedPriest on 22 March 2008, 01:55:06
Robot Master mode in MMPU wasn't really dependant on a story... it was just a dumb little bonus.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ChaosVortex on 22 March 2008, 11:42:55
Yeah, the story really stunk, especially if you wanted to count all the RM's as canon.

Which you shouldn't, really. I really just want a good construction mode. I was dissappointed that I couldn't change water level, use the Magnet Beam, and a few other things.

EDIT: Also, the fact that you were stunk in the "New Style mode" screen size. Old style offers more room in one screen.

Post by: TheRedPriest on 22 March 2008, 22:59:24
Construction mode issues to fix:

1) Add more than 1 boss.
2) Add Fortress Bosses to what you can select from
3) Let you pick and choose stage enemies - do away with "packs".  You NEVER get just the right combo of stage enemies.
4) Let you use teleport pods
5) Let you designate "death pits" at the bottom of a screen even if there is an active area right below that screen.
6) Let you choose the grid size and shape, so long as there are the same number of total screens, what does it matter?  This way you could have a stage that's 100 screens wide by 1 tall if you so choose.
7) Let you pick your stage traps like enemies.  Packs do not work.
8) Let you choose your stage theme seperate from the look - or better yet, add your own music.

One thing I really didn't like is that in this version of Mega Man that he's only 1/3 the height of the screen.  The old school games he was fairly small to the size of the screen so there was lots of room both horizntal and verticle.  The lack of verticle depth really hurts the game play.

Post by: ChaosVortex on 22 March 2008, 23:01:44
I don't know what you mean by #1, but I definitely agree with everything else. I could make some really neat stages if I wasn't restricted.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: TheRedPriest on 22 March 2008, 23:08:59
You can only select one boss for your stage.  What if you want to do a Guantlet?  Or just add a "mid boss" to your stage?  You can't.

Most of those were things I really wanted too, especially the multiple boss thing.

They should also let you be able to customize the boss room and be able to place the boss door on ceilings or floors, not just walls.

Haha, yes. You read my mind, sir. All in all, I love the original Construction Mode to death as it gave me hours upon hours of gametime.

They should also let you be able to customize the boss room
We already figured that out via glitches, hehe.

I couldn't get it to work.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: Cherry on 24 March 2008, 02:52:58
Neither could I.  For some reason, the stages I made were always one tile higher than it said in construction, or certain tiles wouldn't be there once I saved.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 24 March 2008, 03:13:08
Well it IS a glitch. It's not bound to work perfectly.

I've been playing my PSP more than my DS recently. >_>

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: Cherry on 24 March 2008, 03:14:55
But would it ALWAYS be glitchy?  Anyway, same here about the PSP thing.  I mostly pick up my DS to play GBA games, more than anything.

Post by: preventerWIND on 24 March 2008, 16:17:49
Whats glitched? I never played construction mode so I don't know whats wrong..

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: NovaMan XP on 24 March 2008, 16:29:30
In MMPU's Construction mode, when you make the boss room, it's only a box, nothing inside, and you can't edit it without this glitch.

As you can see there's spikes, electric boxes and extra floor panels in places where they shouldn't be.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ASR on 24 March 2008, 16:30:01
By default, every boss room is just an empty walled-in room with a 1-tile-wide wall bordering all sides. You're not allowed to edit it.

This glitch allowed you and the chosen boss to fall into the room below the default boss room, which you could edit to your liking. It didn't even have to be one grid-space... it could be the entire stage, several rooms long and tall, but then you risk losing the boss.

Note how you don't see the boss door anywhere in that screenshot, since both characters fell into this custom room from above.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: NovaMan XP on 24 March 2008, 16:31:30
But how exactly do you get yourself and the boss to fall into the room?

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ASR on 24 March 2008, 16:32:03
I personally forgot the specifics, it was pretty complicated.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ChaosVortex on 24 March 2008, 22:59:56
See... I could never get that to work. He's amazing. I wanted to make a room like that, but with oilblocks on the floor and stuff.

The first time I played one of his stages though, I must say, it didn't work. I fell through, and I got the whole "Warning!" bit, but there was no boss and the stage's main theme kept playing. You couldn't move or anything. The only one option you COULD do, was turn the game off.

But when it works, it can be one hell of a boss fight.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: Mikero on 25 March 2008, 02:37:09
So could you make them drop into a room that was like, a bunch of screens vertically so they just kept moving down while fighting until hitting the bottom or would you risk losing the boss that way too?

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ChaosVortex on 25 March 2008, 02:40:07
I'm inexperienced with the glitch, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ASR on 2 April 2008, 02:55:54
It would not. Especially since MMPU's stage builder has some idiotic rules about vertical scrolling.
You're locked to the horizontal row of rooms, and even then, you're still very limited.

...but it's a whole lot better than the single empty room they give you by default.

OilMan seems rather contrived in the first place.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ASR on 8 April 2008, 02:03:26
OilMan is literally a gimmick and nothing else.

"Cool, you get to surf! Wow, I'm surfing! Looks how hard it is to kill enemies! Look how little damage I do! Look how I can only shoot one oil glob at a time! This is fantastic! I'll just surf some more!"

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!

At least it was fun to make a stage for him that just involved surfing and jumping for a while while avoiding spikes.

Title: Re: MMPU.. Epic comeback!
Post by: ASR on 8 April 2008, 02:40:17
I made my fair share of those.

Eventually, I realized that MegaMan can pretty much do the same thing OilMan can by just using his weapon, but still do a ton more.
