I've been following this thread since its creation and I haven't seen this posted, so...

The footage came from ComicCon btw, which is going on right now, so its fairly new.

I'm back if anyone has noticed.

I got me some Final Fantasy IV DS and a new 4GB Memory Stick for my PSP (word of advice: Don't buy memory sticks from eBay).

In other news, I'm happy that I've saved up $2000 for college. I initially had a goal of $1500 but my last paystub showed that I also got payed for the extra sick and vacation hours I had, boosting my pay up to $750 which was a huge "whoa" for me.

Now that I'm back, I'll get right on Solitude Bay now.

See ya!

Thanks for the support guys.

As for spriting, I don't need any. I'm just going to use the standard sprite set to make things infinitely easier. It'll still be original for you guys, and people on other forums said that as long as the game is good, they don't mind (and it will be).

I'm am going to need a sprite for the final boss, though...

Also, on the subject of music... I currently have Brawl music in place.

...

While some of the music fits perfectly with the locations in the game, I'd still prefer using indie music that other people have made, to keep the game fresh. Does anyone know of a website that's full of them?

Posted on: 30 July 2008, 12:36:25

Oh right, battles...

Yeah, I put them up there now. Like I said, the battles are standard turn-based stuff, first person view battle and such... I did that to make the game simple.

The screen is different from the normal battle system that comes with RPG Maker, though... And the calculations for the battles are different. Thats about it, though.
1708  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Solitude Bay - A New RPG on: 30 July 2008, 06:12:53
I've been wanting to make this topic for a while...

Story
This bay is the only thing you have. You felt as if you've suddenly existed on this bay not too long ago, yet you know you've been here for an eternity. You know nothing else about the world. Only this bay exists, and the only thing you own is this bay...

One day, while relaxing in front of a fire, you hear a voice; you've never heard the language before, yet you understand what its saying;

"I am sorry for placing you in this lonely hell, my child. Let me show you the world..."

Some force who is known as, and worshiped as, The Deity, has told you of his mistake of placing you in this place. And now he'll give you the chance to see what the real world is like, to meet real people, to really have friends for the first time in your life...

This is your story, your new life in this new world.

Characters
You: You are the main character in this story. You can choose to be male or female and choose four different avatars for each gender. You also name you.
You are the only person in this game that can change class and you have the choice to master the class or not. You can change class whenever you like.

Your Partner: Sometime in the game, The Deity will ask you questions. Depending on how you answer these your partner's stats will be set. You can choose what the only class your partner will have, what gender they are, and what name you would like them to have.

A "bot": Later in the game, you'll have the choice to between three "bots" described as "souless humans with emotions". There are three bots to choose from:

Issac: The power bot. He can equip two weapons at once and has a LOT of attack. Average in every other stat, however, and very low in speed and magic. Will learn very few skills.

Mr. Ken: The defense bot. He's the tank of your team and will take in a lot of damage without going down. High HP and defense, but will only be below-average in everything else.

Lucy: The magic bot. She's weak, has low HP and speed, but will have TONs of magical skills. However, as a jack of all trades, she'll be the master of none.

You can name the bot you choose something else if you prefer.

Gameplay
The battles are your standard turn based battles, but you'll have TONS of customizability with your characters. While the two characters are permanent with their customizing, the highlight of the game is that it IS possible to master all of the classes and learn tons of additional skills for your main character.

There are 14 regions on this planet (the regions are like countries in our world). Each region has a location or two for you to visit. For example, Greenland will have two locations to visit, Southern Country and Greywood Manor, while Urban Eagle will only have one location to visit, Mothersday.
There may be even a secret location or two available after certain points in the game...

There will be tons of secrets, tons of exploring, tons of fun. There will be mini-games, and post-game things to do. And if you're still not satisfied, have fun learning the 110 skills you can potentially learn. :)

Screenshots
I'll provide screenshots of each location in the game as I make them.

Is this game done yet?
Not yet...

BUT

It's gone FURTHER along than MMMRPG did. Everything data-wise is done except for the monsters. I'm now at the part where I'm actually making the game play: The maps and the events. The monsters are being made as I progress through the maps so that it gives me a better idea on what kind of monsters I need.

I finished one location in one day (Southern Country), and theres about 25 locations... however, Southern Country is meant to be a small location anyway, being the first. With this in mind, I guess that the game MAY be done early September. You never know with me, but I hope it'll be earlier. :)

Until then, use this topic to ask me questions and discuss things, etc.

...

Phew. *Goes to sleep*

I always wanted to try Sonic's but they don't exist in Canada...

Regardless, I always liked Wendy's. I'm so sick of McDonalds its not even funny. I've been forcefully going there for as long as I remember thanks to my brother.

But anyway, if I had the choice to eat free at Subway's or Wendy's, I'd choose Subway no matter the catch.

Only games I ever bought on release were Wind Waker and Brawl.

Brawl was obvious, I think half of the members here bought it on release day, and Wind Waker because I just happened to have been in town the day it came out.

I don't really plan on doing it again... maybe MegaMan 9 but only because you don't have to go to the store to get it. Other than that, I can wait.
1726  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: So... Final Fantasy IV DS... Yeah... on: 27 July 2008, 20:11:37
Probably because 4Chan thought it up. Everything from 4Chan is funny AND cool, didnts u know!?!/!/1

Anyway, I won't be playing this until Thursday.

But...! But...! You are CANADIAN! Your money is worth MORE than America's Monopoly money paper! You could be playing this YESTERDAY with that kind of capitial power!

I would be playing this game the day it came out if I didn't live 2 hours away from a gaming shop.

Erm, well, not nearly as bad as 4Kids now-a-days.

But as we can see from the trailer, this anime won't be screwed up.
1730  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann on: 27 July 2008, 07:28:13
If its anything other than 4Kids, it won't be screwed up.

Don't like the voices and hate the entire thing because one or two voices don't match the characters exactly how you were expecting, then that's your problem.

But DKC3 still remains to be my favourite.

Akira Toriyama doesn't usually draw womanly men.
1735  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 27 July 2008, 03:17:32
You can find all of those within the first two zones of Sonic and Knuckles. In the combo, there are actually eight giant rings in them, so it's easy to get them all.
I can't do the same in Sonic 3; it usually takes me until Hydrocity or Marble Garden to find them all.

Yeah, but, I like to speed through the stages as fast as I could. I just happened to have stumbled into seven rings by Marble Garden Zone.

I might look at a map or something when I get to Mushroom Top (?) Zone for the Super Emeralds, but only because I will be able to actually play the game when I get all of them.
1736  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Sonic Game exclusive to Wii... on: 27 July 2008, 03:07:09

I decided, out of sheer fascination, to beat Sonic 3 and Knuckles again.

Wow, me too. I'm at the Carnival Nite Zone and I've already managed to get all the Chaos Emeralds.

I have a feeling I won't be that lucky when looking for the Super Emeralds.

1740  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 26 July 2008, 05:22:50
I didn't either until I stumbled upon it on the internet.

It sounded crazy too. For the DKC2 one, you had to jump over that map 16 times without touching it or something. I thought it was fake, but knowing Rare games, I decided to do it, and boy was I surprised.
1741  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 26 July 2008, 04:51:01
How do you cheat?

Theres this cheat involving the waterfall near Funky's place that gets you all the DK coins and Bonus Coins or something.

I forget how its done because I did it a long time ago.

Theres a similar cheat for DKC2 as well, but its a one time deal. You can do it whenever you want with DKC3.
1742  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 26 July 2008, 04:40:29

1744  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcoming Games Topic on: 26 July 2008, 04:36:44
Uhm, I've never heard that "a consonant between two vowels has to be doubled" in my life. Do you know how many words that would mess with in this post (so far) alone?

I'vve, nevver, consonnant, vowwels, liffe, manny (sometimes?),

and here's the kicker;

allonne.

Wowzers.

Well, I never thought of it that way... but yeah, I was taught something like that, anyway.

It still screws me up from time to time and I probably will never learn. Believe me, I've tried.
1745  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcomming Games Topic on: 26 July 2008, 03:23:03
Change it to "Upcoming Games Topic", since there's only one "M" in that word.

Grah. Damn it, I was taught as a kid that a consonant between two vowels has to be doubled and now I'm screwed up at this point because I keep forgetting which words don't get double consonants.

Like, look, forgetting, the "T" is doubled there. x_x

I think it's good to have certain games get their own threads, but this general one is an okay idea.

Yeah, that's what I was going for.
1746  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcomming Games Topic on: 26 July 2008, 01:25:27
Since E3's over, I changed the topc title to "Upcomming Games Topic."

I request everyone to post new games (unless they're HUGE new games) in this topic. I've also updated the first post, hid the E3 stuff, and made a list. When a game from that list comes out, I'll make a new hide thing about released games.

I also added Captain Rainbow to the mix. Captain Rainbow is a new Nintendo IP.
1747  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann on: 26 July 2008, 00:59:57
The person who voices Piccolo in DBZ can only be Kamina. (Chris Sabat?)

Because that person also voices Zoro from One Piece.

And Zoro's Japanese voice actor is the same as Kamina's.

Therefore, Piccolo = Kamina.
