My immediate assumtion is that you guys drink nothing buy Mountain Dew and Bawls (thanks to Ray!), try drinking some water..
Actually, I drink only water at work. Occasionally, juice, too. The soda was among the first I'd had in a while. I've cut caffeine out for the most part (aside from naturally-based caffiene, like chocolate or tea or the very occasional coffee). The Bawls was a mistake, but I bought it for nostalgia and didn't realize my error at the time.

Woke up feeling okay, drank a Sierra Mist, started to feel sick. Passed it off, figuring it was just my system reacting to the first edible contact of the day.
Went shopping, got food. Had some blackberries and part of a Bawls.
Got home, made OJ, sat down. Started to feel kind of rumbly, so I cut up part of a sandwich, started nibbling on it. Felt a little bad, so I poured some orange juice and sipped at it, then felt better.
I poured my Bawls into my OJ, and sipped that.
Immediately felt like something my cat puked up.
Three hours later, I was vomiting after several involuntary attempts.
I made a brew of cinnamon, apricot tea, nutmeg, and a little clove. It was delicious, and it helped at first, but then I threw that up within half an hour of drinking it.
Still kind of going on.
I've thrown up everything I've eaten today.
I feel the same will happen if I eat anything.
I'm feeling rather dizzy.

Okay, what. Really? I guess I've just been on so many that something [sic] like that is really hard to imagine.
I'm actually the same way. When I was little, my grandparents lived halfway 'cross the country, so plane travel was a yearly or semi-yearly event, and I got used to it. I'm not sure how we did it, unless my grandparents paid for the tickets.

I'm confused about the Avatar movie.
One friend is obsessive about it, claiming it's the "most beautiful thing [she's] ever seen."
Another friend wonders aloud if he just watched Fern Gully in 3D.
Yet another friend thinks it's stupid and doesn't know what the big hype is about.
What is the premise of this movie, and why is it such a big fuss?

I have made a very delicious soup.
It was SUPPOSED to be a beef/barley/vegetable soup, but we didn't have the barley, so I used up a rice-and-bean mix instead.
To start with, I sauteed half an onion and two large stalks of celery in butter at the bottom of a large pot. Just when the onions got translucent, I added some lemon pepper and cumin, and a can of V8. I let that simmer for a little bit, then added three cups of water, and about a half pound of frozen ground beef. I let that cook until the beef was cooked through, adding dehydrated garlic pieces, parsley and something called "Italian essence," which had Rosemary, Basil, Oregano and I think it was thyme. I let that cook on medium for two hours, adding more spices as I went. When it got down to stock consistency, I added some baby carrots, lavender sea salt and more cumin, then I added another can of V8, filled it up the rest of the way with water, then added some garlic salt, and about a tablespoon of butter, chopped up. As it simmered down again (about two hours later), I started cooking the rice mix in a different pan. It was an instant mix, so I added half a can of V8 with a little extra water. As the rice was getting almost done, I tossed the whole shebang into the big pot, and stirred it up. I let it simmer for a while as I cooked a can of whole green beans and the other half of the onion from earlier, then added it when the onions were translucent. I added a little more cumin, some chili powder, and a little more garlic, filled it up with water, then let it simmer on low until everyone was home (about 30 minutes), and it was very delicious.
Surprisingly, some tortilla chips added a wonderful flavour to the finished product as a garnish.
Some notes:
I wouldn't have even worried about the onions being translucent before adding them if I didn't have a roommate who has a bad reaction to undercooked onions.
Also, I have no idea "how much" of anything I added. I went by how the flavour was growing as time went on, and by what we had on-hand.

I've finally gotten an account on the amazingly awesome new Google product, Google Wave.
It's like... a chat room... except... awesome because it's... I dunno, hard to describe. Everything is constantly updating in real time, like when a person is typing another person will see what that person is typing as he's typing it before he even submits what he's writing.
That may not seem much but from a Developer's view point that's amazing.
And the way they programmed Wave was that anyone can make their own Wave product and they would all communicate with each other in real time. Kind of like how you can have different e-mail accounts but still communicate with each other.
I'm not doing a very good job on explaining this but I'd like you guys to know that it's not JUST a chat room. It goes much deeper than that.
I got six invitations if anyone is interested!
If you still have any, I'd like one. o.c.wills@gmail.com I'm quite interested in investigating it.

I started the day off by oversleeping my alarm! :D
Apparently, all the kids are there, too, and my boss's daughter is not there to cover for me.
The one day we have any kids, of course I oversleep. My head hurts like a mother#####, and I can barely talk.
I love sinus infections. ._.

I finally talked to my Boss about my schedule today. I'm working three days a week for eleven paid hours, the rest volunteered. I don't mind the volunteer work, and now, I have three days a work for a second job, plus one free. :D

Sweet, delicious sleep. <3
I found out yesterday that there's nothing physically wrong with my brain, so whatever's causing the twitches and minor blackouts is not brain-relevant.
What's causing them is still a mystery, so back to the doctor I go.

My first day of work at my new place. It's much preferred to have a half hour of waiting at the bus station than of an hour and a half of bus rides then walking for half an hour home. My commute has been cut down to 40 minutes max now, and that's in standard traffic. I'm so happy now.

Well, my body is finally yelling at me for my insomnia. I'm having gastrointestinal issues in a pretty expressive way. Also, my eyes look worse after 24 hours combined sleep last night and tonight than they did on my 28-hour-no-sleep-athon, but eh.
We're all moved in! Yaaaay! Well, we're waiting for it to be legal (with a signed lease) before we move in any heavy furniture, but we're as good as golden for now, and I don't have to wear the same #####ing clothes I've worn for the past month! Huzzah!
All in all, generally a good feeling in the air. Holiday season approacheth, and that means it's just about WINTER!, which makes me so very happy. :3

To chime in here, the whole thing has been losing us sleep. Regardless of the lease, at the current place there is the issue of the roommates which I may have mentioned a bit back, I don't quite recall, particularly the one who seems to be going insane, and I don't mean that in the sympathetic way. It is a dangerous, stressful living situation that we have been in for the past three months already.
We do not feel safe or comfortable in what is technically our home. Moving out is the only option we really have left.

It's been a (few days over a) year since I almost died, guys!
Ray and I are hospital buddies when it comes to Thanksgiving: Ray with his arm, me with my cannibalistic pancreas.
#####'s been going down at home, and still no news re: the new place. It's been interesting.
At least the landlord isn't in the living room anymore.

What happened to the whole "shareing is careing" jig?
Your excessive 'E's killed it. I've almost always been on the receiving end of the free food in my lifetime, though I do volunteer. As it stands, I really don't think I could tolerate Limbo. Having been waiting there for two weeks in order to move into our new #####ing house and out of our old pile of issues, I now understand that I am not as patient or as self-entertaining as I used to be. We'll know after this Thursday, probably, which could be problematic considering that's Thanksgiving.

Sorry to hear that, Alec. That really sucks.

I finally saw Zombieland on Wednesday. It wasn't as good as I was expecting, but it wasn't disappointing, and there were some pretty excellent parts. It's been windy, and that makes me excited. It's been pretty good for me lately.

I know what you mean about the ashes, though at least you have an urn. My mom has her part of what was once my grandfather in a cleaned-out jar that once held cake sprinkles.

Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / The interesting stuff thread

So, today I was talking to someone about sciencey nature stuff, and we started talking about autumn leaves and why, in North America, deciduous trees turn all sorts of reds and oranges, whereas they only turn yellow in Europe. He was saying that the theory for why this is has to do with our mountain ranges.
European ranges run lattitudinally, meaning that when the cold weather comes, the animals are basically stuck in the northern parts.
Contrarily, North American mountain ranges run longitudinally, meaning that the animals can go down to lower grounds as cold weather creeps in.
The theory states that the leaves turn red and orange, Nature's danger colours, to keep animals from eating them.
