I believe it's supposed to be the best of the Iron Man games...
There was an Iron Man game that came out for the GBA (called The Invincible Iron Man, I think) that was pretty tight. I liked it. As for the 360 game, I played the demo when it first came out. I thought it was okay, but I didn't think that it was very challenging and all of the reviews that I've read say that it's complete balls. I'll wait until it gets down to $20-30 brand-new before I go anywhere near it.

I'm up at college for senior week right now, which is a week where they let the graduating seniors get super-drunk for a week before we graduate.
Anywho, my buddy Tom came back from the bar really drunk. I mean, really drunk. Like you know those old Looney Tunes cartoons where the people are so sick that their face is green? I've never seen someone look like that until last night, the kid was so trashed.
He was out and about in the hallway yelling that the police were coming after him because he was so drunk (which doesn't make sense in the first place, seeing as he's 22). Nobody knows where the sound of the police siren is coming from until I come out into the hallway saying that I was running from the cops in a cop car with the siren going in GTA4. Tom doesn't believe me; I even dragged the kid into my room to show him - still doesn't. Finally after shutting off my 360, Tom stops yapping about the police long enough to go off to the bathroom to throw up again.
It was one of those "you had to be there" moments that I'm sharing anyway.

Horrible.
Not surprised. Didn't they make Venom act like Spidey's dog in that? Like he licks Spidey's face? God, that is completely stupid.
The game isn't terrible, but I'm at the last chapter and I could care less about what happens. It's fun for a while, but it just ends up being the same crap over and over again. There may be some replay value, but I'm starting to think that it wasn't worth the $30 I paid for it. Wait until it gets down to $20 brand-new and then start looking at it. As for Venom being Spider-Man's dog, that doesn't occur. If anything, Venom tries to bite Spider-Man's head.

I saw Speed Racer again tonight. It was a lot better the second time, probably because I didn't have any expectations that needed to be met and there were no little kids in the audience. Still not a great movie, but a lot of fun.

So after seeing all I wanted to... Just from the trailers and the actor bios... I really feel violated.
NO means NO.
the graphics look like horrible hot wheels versions of the vehicles looping around without true from or physics. The fan reviews (or at least those televised) were "OMG GRAPHIC AWESOMNEZ!) But then again, those were the ones shown. Through the youtubing I did, I found only one thing that made my inner fangirl swoon, And that was a true to live mach 5 car.
so my question, did anyone dare to leave their homes to watch this large pile of dookie?
I plan to wait until the movie comes out on DVD where I can rent it for a dollar... because that's all I feel it'll be worth.
Look at what I wrote about it in the movie thread. Visually it's awesome and it's definitely Speed Racer but yeah...there's a definite Hot Wheels vibe to the races.

I cringed when I found out Matthew Fox was in it as Racer X.
NOT MY JACK
He's actually great as Racer X. I saw Speed Racer yesterday afternoon. It was fun, and it's obvious that the Wachowski brothers love the series - I'm sure that Tatsuo Yoshida would've been proud of this film. At the same time, I was left disappointed by it. Even though it's visually impressive, it's not a great film, yet not bad either. Probably the most impressive "meh" I've ever seen. Good luck to this film trying to break even; it sure as all hell won't in the USA. Positives: -Feels like a smarter, 2 hr. 15 min. version of the show. -The acting is pretty good, although Matthew Fox was really the only one who stood out to me. -The trippy visuals are awesome. -The race scenes are pretty damn ridiculous and equally awesome. -If you were planning to go see while on various illegal substances, you made a good choice. -The movie is visually stunning. -It's great seeing Peter Ferandez as a TV announcer (the original voice of Speed Racer, I recognized his voice immediately) and Richard Roundtree (the original Shaft) as a race car driver. Negatives -It feels like a 2 hr. 15 min. version of the show. -It feels long for a 2 hr. 15 min. movie, as the pacing is somewhat crappy. -The script isn't the greatest -Too much time is spent building up a plot that feels like it should have ended 20 minutes earlier than it did. -The PG rating ensures that you'll be seeing this with bratty 4 and 5 year-olds unless you go to a late showing. -Not really a negative, but where's Connie Orr (the original voice of Trixie)? Oh yeah, and for those of you who really like the show, there's a subplot introduced that may cause your brain to go bat-##### crazy. It's okay, really. Don't flip out...it resolves itself.

We were sitting in the theater, and my friend goes "...but Nick is white!"
In the regular (616) universe he is. In the Ultimate universe he's Black, and they a lot of the movie stuff from Ultimate universe. It would have been too hard to cast the 616 universe Nick Fury (he was played by Hasselhoff back in the old Captain America one, and that was no good) so they went with the Ultimate Nick Fury which was an obvious casting choice.
Actually, Hasselhoff played Nick Fury in his own made-for-TV movie. Fury never appeared in any of the Captain America movies.

I'm listening to a punk comp that I found in a used bookstore in London. The album is called "Totally Punk", which reminds me of those rock compilations that you see being sold on TV at 3 in the morning.
Right now I'm really digging The Damned "Neat Neat Neat (Live)" and Sham 69 "Hurry Up Harry".

Anyhow, Mortal Kombat would be a boring ass fighter without the gore and we all know it. Hell, I've tried it through the options. It just lacks...inspiration without it. Besides, I'd be disguested having to see such characters ability to be awesome nerfed.
Exactly - if it wasn't for the gore and Fatalities, Mortal Kombat II wouldn't have been made. While I think that they aren't really necessary, it's going to be weird playing Mortal Kombat without it. Hopefully they'll take more time with the gameplay and stages this time around, since they won't have to focus on the gore factor.

Right, well, if they took the jumping out of MegaMan and replaced it with the cast of Cheers, it wouldn't be MegaMan.
That doesn't make sense at all. Jumping is necessary to reach certain areas or to dodge foes and their attacks; it's a necessary part of the gameplay. The blood in Mortal Kombat isn't there for anything other than a shock factor that stopped being controversial around 1995.

Watched "No Country for Old Men."
Not bad, but I don't recommend it. It's like they quit 3/4 of the way through.
What, with the ending and not seeing everything? That's actually how the book is from what I've heard.

For some reason I've been into jazz/funk as of late. I've pulled out the two Blue Submarine No. 6 soundtracks, Trigun: Spicy Stewed Donut (a compilation of the two Trigun soundtracks), a compilation CD called "A Jazz Selection Inspired by the Golgo 13 Manga" which is pretty tight (best part is that one or two of the songs is actually a live recording), and something my roommate burned me called "Soul Brother #3 Mix".
The Golgo 13 disc has:
Miles Davis "Airegin" Miles Davis "'Round About Midnight" Wes Montgomery "S.O.S." Wynton Kelly "Dark Eyes" Sonny Rollins "You Don't Know What Love Is" Nat Adderley "Work Song" Latin Jazz Quintet "Milestones" Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers "Caravan" Wes Montgomery "Four on Six" Bobby Timmons "Moanin'" Red Garland "St. James Infirmary" Miles Davis "Woody'n You" Bill Evans "Israel"
Soul Brother #3 Mix has: Al Foster Band "Night of the Wolf" Aromadozeski Therapy "Strudel Strut" Babe Ruth "The Mexican" Badder Than Evil "Hot Wheels (The Chase)" De Wolfe Music Librairie "Causeway" Dennis Coffey "Black Belt Jones" Eddie Kendricks "Date with the Rain" Greyboy Allstars "Freestylin'" Incredible Bongo Band "Apache" Jackson 5 "Life of the Party" John Daves & The Monster Orchestra "The Magic Is You" MFSB "Family Affair" Nina Simone "Funkier Than A Mosquitos Tweet" Soho "Hot Music" Pigbag "Papa's Got a Brand New P" Yellow Sunshine "Yellow Sunshine"

I'm looking forward to it.
I could care less about the gore and fatalities; they were the only thing that kept the series alive back when the franchise first started, and the two only mattered when I was like, 8. I think it'll be interesting...I'm curious to see who will be in the line-up and how the DC superheroes' powers will be handled.
From what I've heard, the only characters that have been confirmed are Sub Zero, Scorpion, Batman, and Superman.

As of late:
Halo 3 (new Legendary map pack) Marble Blast Ultra (because it's a blasty-blast) Jumper: Griffin's Story (because I sometimes enjoy super-repetitive gameplay and I hate myself) Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (ditto) Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (No real reason) Mass Effect (Still addicted, but not as much...maybe because I'm in my third time through)

Semi-Pro: It was okay, but nothing great. Part of me feels like the unrated version will be a bit funnier. Not sure if it was necessary that they went for an R-rating.
Vantage Point: The idea seems awesome, but the movie was just okay. How they kept showing stuff backwards and then starting again at noon got to be pretty annoying. It seemed like this would have worked better as a novel.

Today was pretty good. I got up around 9:30 so my roommate and I could go see three movies today: Be Kind Rewind, The Other Boleyn Girl, and Charlie Bartlett. All were good movies, although I wouldn't have seen The Other Boleyn Girl if it wasn't for my roommate and his interest in history (and the two female leads). Now I'm just sitting here playing Frontlines: Fuel of War while snow continues to fall outside.

I had to read and present on a bunch of Luke Cage, Power Man issues yesterday. I really liked that Security City issue; plenty of parallels you can draw between that and the Green Lantern/Green Arrow comics that were coming out in that decade.
I read some of the Green Lantern/Arrow stories in a trade from my library once. Wasn't their team up series mostly about getting people aware of social problems around the world and the like?
Yup. What I always found interesting is that they would defeat the bad guy of the issue, and then move on, never helping the people rebuild their lives. Perhaps a message to people that if they want to make an impact, they're going to have to do it themselves and not expect higher-ups to help. Or with the Green Lantern representing the government, saying that the American government doesn't mind meddling with the affairs of people until they believe that everything is "fixed", and then they'll leave those left behind to pick up the pieces of their lives after the government's so-called "reform".
