I want to see Dickinson; it looks right up my alley but I know my wife (who isn't a fan of alternative comedy) would probably hate it. I started up the first season of Future Man, and it seems pretty fun. Posted on: January 04, 2020, 03:55:13 AM
My wife and I have been watching We Bare Bears, as she likes silly and absurd, but not the level of trippy/alternative that you find in The Amazing World of Gumball.

Viz also handled Golgo 13 and Video Girl Ai, so you should check them out as well, and I thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiink they did the Guyver manga as well way way way back in the day.
As for what I'm reading, I have kids, so currently it's "Thelma the Unicorn", which is by the same author as "Pig the Pug". Not really my cup of tea, but I've read worse children's literature.

That and toy sales have gone down the toilet compared to the heyday. People really aren't into the Disney trilogy.
Kids aren't really into toys, period. It's a bizarre thing, but toy sales are down all over because of video games and YouTube. Much like people watch "Let's Play" videos for games they're never going to get around to, kids are apparently watching unboxing videos or toy review videos instead of buying toys. Anywho, I got furloughed today. We were expecting it to happen a month or two from now, but the announcement came out of nowhere this morning. I've already filed for unemployment. The furlough is expected to last 60 days; at the end of it they'll either extend it by another 30 days, bring us back, or we get laid off. On the plus side, I've got plenty of time to get my wisdom teeth out, provided I can find an oral surgeon to do it.

I'm going between Doom Eternal, Yakuza 0, and Super Mega Baseball 2.
Doom Eternal is great and the AI is relentless. Slow, methodical, and the scope of the game is huge. Love it.
Yakuza 0 is my introduction to the series, which my wife was already a big fan. I'm digging it as there's so much to do, and the plots are ridiculous.
Super Mega Baseball 2 pretty much because the season has been postponed and I'm just jonesin' for the Marlins and A's to let me down. Plus Super Mega Baseball 3 is supposed to come out this year.

Then you're in for a treat with all those episode 9 figures they can't give away!
Hasbro has essentially killed the 3 3/4 line; Walmart got a stupid gold spraypainted two-pack line "honoring" each movie - it is believed that these are the final 5 points of articulation (5POA) figures that we'll see, which is a really #####ty way for the line to go out. There is no mainstream 5POA line for TROS. The only figures for the movie are being released through the Vintage series, which isn't terrible, but I also hate paying $15 for a figure like that. Honestly, Hasbro has been mishandling the line since The Force Awakens and although I doubt Disney will, I wouldn't mind the license going to someone else. Hasbro has done a lot of cool ##### with the line over the years, but their distribution model is absolute ##### with no signs of improving and they make a lot of questionable choices with their offerings.

I'm only two missions in, but it feels very different from the last few LEGO games that I've played. I would've been okay with shelling out $30 for it; I think I picked it up for $10? It goes on sale a couple of times a year if you don't care about getting it digitally. Posted on: January 03, 2020, 05:23:28 PM
it is amazingly easy to go from first to eighth place in one hit
Yeah, I've played Mario Kart before.
I know, but for my son who loves the previous game, it's pretty disheartening to be doing so well for 2/3s of the race and then the game #####s you over and you never finish higher than 7th place when you're five. Again, I wish there was an "easy" mode for younger kids.

Fired up Team Sonic Racing and LEGO City Undercover, which were the games I gave to my son for Christmas. I'm kinda disappointed with Sonic racing because it isn't like Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing Transformed; there's no easy mode and it is amazingly easy to go from first to eighth place in one hit - I don't mind the difficulty, but it really frustrates my son because he's five. I should've read the reviews before picking it up, but I didn't, so that's on me. The graphics and level design are gorgeous and I'm sure it would look amazing on a huge TV.
LEGO City Undercover is a blast; it's like Grand Theft Auto and Crackdown with LEGO characters. My son will need to have someone be his co-op partner to help him get the mechanics of the game, but it's a lot of fun and glad that I picked it up for him (and me).

Kim Wilde now presents gardening shows on British TV, no joke!
I read about that on her Wikipedia page! Apparently she started when she was pregnant with her first kid because she wanted a garden for her kids to play in, and now she's won awards for her gardening work!

I saw Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and while I thought it was underwhelming, I thought it was a fine end to the Skywalker saga. My main issue is that it spent a lot of time apologizing for The Last Jedi, but hey, maybe it was headed in this direction anyway when they were originally mapping the sequel trilogy.

Notice how there was no dialogue? Yeah, there was a reason. Honestly though, the set design was pretty good; enough that I was wondering if they were using the sets from another movie/TV show.
The film is pretty much "What if Alien, but boring actors wearing 'armor' from the company paintball tournament?"

Haha we were talking about the Digimon Movie at work the other day and "Kids In America" came up, I always liked that song but never really listened to other Kim Wilde stuff so I'll check this out.
Her YouTube channel has her entire discography there to listen if you don't mind ads between songs.

I've been playing Terminator: Resistance for my friend's podcast. It isn't great, but I'm enjoying it. I can't justify spending more than $20 on this game though; the $60 they want for the console versions is insane.
Also enjoying One Night Stand, a visual novel that has you trying to piece together what happened the night before and you interacting with the girl the next morning. Highly recommend it; it's only $5.

Add to that being primarily mobile (though it leaks more and more into console games) that have no physical controls, so even THAT has to be dumbed down to work with no game pad (no one carries a game pad with them to whip out to play phone games either),
I know you won't, but you should check out the Game Vice controller. I got one for review and it's absolute tits, and there's plenty of mobile gaming companies that work with them. It's especially handy for first-person shooters like, say, Dead Trigger 2, or fighting games. If you play a lot of mobile games because of a commute or in between classes, it's a good investment.

Hopefully that can lead us to a new Mega Man show that's more in line with what we like about the source material. Doesn't have to be 100% accurate but something more enjoyable.
It would've been nice if the Archie comics series had kept going and just had a cartoon based on that.

I understand the sentiment but can't totally agree. Tons of free-to-play games are of high quality and don't actually force micro-transactions down your throat, especially for games where said micro-transactions are only for cosmetic purposes.
Asphalt 9 is a ton of fun and I've never once had the feeling like I should spend money on it, I have retail released games that push harder on micro-transactions and actively throttle progression to do so, so this is a complete win.

Yeah, there's a handful of F2P games that I do on my phone and one on Facebook. Almost every lunch time at work I play Dead Trigger 2 for a bit. It isn't anything groundbreaking, but the sniper levels are a lot of fun - I wish there was more of them and they were longer.

I've only see the toys be sold on Amazon; they were supposed to be in-store exclusive to Target, but the ones near me never stocked them. On top of that, they haven't announced a second season and the Facebook page hasn't been updated since May...so I'm pretty sure this show is dead.

I'm legit stoked for the Sonic movie now. I was on board with it before because I'm like "wtf adaptations, just entertain me", but now I'm excited to take my oldest son to it.

I keep bouncing between Halo: The Master Chief Collection and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. It seems kind of weird - it feels like they botched the port of Episode I, but everything else remains relatively solid. Vehicle sections that aren't on rails still suck though.

Well. I think you're all getting too caught up on the word "pretend" instead of the concept behind the sentences, but yeah. To each their own.
The official Mega Man twitter said "fun fact: Mega Man is called the blue bomber because he's blue" the other day, so I don't think there's a single person professionally attached to the franchise that cares what kind of content I'd like to see anyway .
That might have been a reference to that Mega Man ad from the early 2000s where the kid on the playground said the same exact thing. Posted on: June 16, 2019, 05:06:19 PM

Bethesda's conference was almost total garbage. The only thing I wanted to see was Doom Eternal. And that was very satisfying. But why do they need to show that at the end of the conference?
And it's CLEARLY OBVIOUS there were shills in the audience.
I think the most obvious shills were the ones getting excited about Commander Keen.

I don't think any of us are "pretending" it's good, we've just accepted the fact that we aren't the target audience and treat it as "whatever". I'm indifferent about it, but I know my kid likes it and he associates Mega Man with his dad, so it makes him like it more. I'm not going to stop that, it just means that I keep introducing him to the original stuff and explaining the differences.

Finally finished The Equalizer 2 the other night. I thought it was good, but not as good as the first one. I hope that more get made, because I liked that it was a mature (as in, the target audience is 35 and up) action movie and we don't get enough of those these days.

Cuphead isn't hard to beat, but it's hard to perfect. I'm on Inkwell Island 3 and the bosses in general aren't really difficult, but if you want that A+ (or S depending on what level of difficulty you're playing), then it can be very tricky.
Now getting the P ranks however, that's a pain.
If your pee is rank and painful, you should probably see a doctor. *ba dum tss*
