Did anybody not like Sailor Moon when they were a kid, seriously? I think most of us can admit to that sin.
I watched a couple of episodes and thought that it was complete crap. There were better things to be watching before I went off to middle school like Dragon Ball Z. ...and Pokemon. T_T

As the beginning of the thread started off with, I've got plenty of fun memories of MChat. Most of them were busting people for various things, and as Jake said, the cybering crap was always plenty fun. Noting really beat when people would pose as us mods...and we were right there in the room...most of the time when we were using our real names.

Fraggle Rock was really good at that too, not to mention it's incredibly complex social structures and mock-ecological systems.
Holy crap, yeah. Jim Henson's ideas behind that show were absolutely mind-blowing. He set out to create a show that would teach kids about the crazy world around them and show them the effects of some actions, and in the end encourage and show peaceful solutions. In the end, he hoped that the kids that watched the show would one day use what they had learned from Fraggle Rock when they became world leaders and make the world a better place. Crazy-ass stuff.

Awake - 8/10 - Way better than I thought that it would be. Fairly interesting story with some twists that I didn't see coming, and Jessica Alba proves that she can *gasp* ACT!

Beowulf - 9/10 - Great retelling of Beowulf with some new twists. I loved the CGI; some parts looked so realistic that I couldn't tell if it was animation or live-action.
The Darjeeling Limited - 10/10 - Wes Anderson's best yet, hilarious and touching. The ending shot is one of the most beautiful movie scenes that I've ever seen.
The Golden Compass - 6/10 - Eh, it was okay. If you're an adult you can easily fill in the anti-religion stuff, but it was somewhat entertaining. Could have been a lot better, but if they ever make the sequel, I'll go see it.
Hitman - 7/10 - It's The Bourne Identity's dumber and louder brother, but it's still pretty entertaining. Hopefully they'll make more movies in this series.
The Mist - 7/10 - Well-made horror flick with an ending that was complete balls. They should have just ended it where the novel did and then add the rest for an "unrated director's cut".
Mr. Magorium's Wonder Imporium - 6/10 - This could have been so much better. The kid is damn annoying; you're supposed to feel bad for him, but there's no way that you really can. And Dustin Hoffman could have done without the lisp.
No Country for Old Men - 10/10 - One of the year's best movies, and the badguy is so damn creepy.

The Dungeon Siege Movie I watched last week was more gripping and it was done by Uwe Boll.
Is it any good? It's coming out here on January 11th, and part of me wants to drag my roommate to it.

I've been playing the hell out of Mass Effect since I got it last Friday. I've managed to log in 28 hours of gameplay without making it to Vermir (or whatever the planet is called) yet, all the while juggling work, school, and sleep. Most nights when I play it I usually end up playing until 6 AM, in which I crawl into bed and wake up at 10 AM for work/school.
I know man...that game makes me want to call into work the next day because I stay up so damn late just completing missions and exploring uncharted planets. It kind of reminds me vaguely of Starflight for the Sega Genesis....but not much. I think a couple of my friends are getting pissed at me because they keep calling me to see what I'm up to and I tell them I don't want to do anything tonight....I'm playing Mass Effect.
Did you
kill Wrex? I just found the armor, but I maxed out my intimidation today just in case, 'cause I like the big guy.
Akira: For many of us, this movie is where it all began. Akira was my first shot at mature, violent anime, and it's one of those movies that you'll never forget. Crazy how the animation from 1988 STILL looks better than some of the anime coming out today.
Blue Submarine No. 6: The storyline gets weird towards the end, but the designs are cool. But the best part about this series is the music, provided by The Thrill. The band's super-cool jazz music has an ocean feel to it that makes it worth blowing $60 for the two CDs.
Cowboy Bebop: The soundtrack by Yoko Kanno and The Seatbelts are great enough, but the badass characters and storytelling are second to none.
Fist of the North Star: The original movie is where it's at, with people screaming, brains exploding, fists punching at insane speeds, and enough blood pouring out of the main characters to supply any blood bank crisis. Bruce Lee wishes he could have been this good.
Gantz: Nothin' wrong with a bit of the ol' ultra-violence.
Golgo 13: Japan's answer to James Bond, and he's so much more kickass. Lacking any emotion, Golgo 13 is the baddest mother#####er to ever grace the pages of manga. The storylines are always cool (I love how they weave in and out of current events), and the movies are plenty awesome.
Gundam Wing: Looking back, the dubbing was horrendous for the first few episodes and characters act rather out-of-character, but once everything gets grounded and going, the series rocks. Plenty of political intrigue, action, and Gundams to go around.
The Guyver: Ultra-violent and ultra-cool, this alien suit superhero kicks major ass. I couldn't believe what I was seeing the first time that I watched the series, with Gregol getting his neck snapped and a ton of blood gushing out of his mouth. Not a great series (I haven't seen the new one yet), but it's definitely awesome.
Outlaw Star: Happy-go-lucky space action series that has a decent storyline, cool action, and awesome ships.
Shin-chan: I've never seen the Japanese dub, but the American dub is absolutely hilarious. For once, localization works.
Speed Racer: It wasn't until one night that I got sick with the flu and went downstairs to watch some TV at 3:30 AM on Cartoon Network. The title song came on, and I was immediately hooked with my first outing "The Car with a Brain, Part 2". The animation isn't great by today's standards, the dubbing is hilarious because it had to be rewritten and sometimes sped up so it could match the animation, but it's one of the first. Thanks to shows like Speed Racer, Gigantor, Astro Boy and Kimba, we've got the titles that we enjoy today. Know your roots.

Eh, it was okay. Got up at noon after sleeping for 8 1/2 hours, took a shower, and went off to see The Golden Compass and No Country for Old Men (second time I've seen it). After the movies I went into Hot Topic and picked up a Soundwave t-shirt (my favorite Transformer), the Guitar Hero III soundtrack, and a knit cap that has an NES controller on it that says "Original Gamer Est. 1985". Since then, I've been watching episodes of Gundam Wing and will soon be playing Mass Effect...

All I want for Christmas is for Jeph Loeb to stop writing.
I'd rather have Ann Coulter stop writing and just admit that she's a man. As far as I know, I'm getting Once Upon a Time in the West and Amazing Grace on DVD, and I may be getting the soundtracks from Advent Rising and Halo 3 from my brother. I don't know about anything else, other than my parents buying me dress clothes for my internship next semester.

Both of my grandfathers served in World War II. My mother's father served in the Navy. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor and was moved out days before the attack, and he ended up serving out in the Atlantic Ocean. Oddly enough, he ended up dying on Pearl Harbor Day 1991 (First funeral I ever went to.) I don't know about any special things that he did.
My other grandfather (father's side), died recently after dealing with Parkinson's and dementia for five years. I don't know what all he did, but I think my parents said that he used to be on one of the "flying fortress" crews.

The movie was "meh". It was visually stunning, but the first hour was boring and the only character that I cared about was Sam Elliot's. And Daniel Craig, one of the reasons why I wanted to see it? Yeah, he's in there for ten minutes, tops.
