I have to vote for Devil May Cry 4, seeing as it is the only one in the series that I have played.

Things I have to do tomorrow:

Before 3:30 PM - yell at my advisor for switching up my schedule this semester without telling me; there's the posibility that I may not graduate on time because of this. This is going to be tricky, because if he puts it back to my 3-credit internship (as it was originally), then all I have to do is go tell the Student Accounts group to take off the $425 that they're trying to charge me. If he won't change it, then I'll have to go yell at my advisor that

1) He should have told me he was going to switch it.
2) He should have told me about this so I could drop out of my Money & Banking class. Last day to drop out and not have it effect your student history was TWO DAYS AGO.
3) He's going to have to figure out what I am going to do now, because my schedule for this semester was built around the fact that I was only doing a 90-hour/3-credit internship. It would be impossible for me to do a 180-hour/6-credit internship and graduate on time at this point.

3:30 PM - Hand in a 2-3 page paper about how the costumes, dialects, sounds, and music effect the ideas of the future and multiculturalism in Blade Runner.

6 PM - Hand in a 3-4 page paper about the racism seen in the Superman newspaper comic strips, along with discussing the hardships of the Japanese-Americans placed in American concentration camps.

7:30-ish PM - Lead a discussion about the first six issues of Luke Cage, Hero for Hire.

9 PM - Attend a meeting at my college's anime club to discuss when/where/etc we're going to hold our game night. Glee.

Tomorrow is going to suck.
1053  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 11 February 2008, 00:44:58
I watched Blade Runner: The Final Cut last night. It was the first time that I had seen the movie all the way through; every other time it was just in bits and pieces. Great movie, but that ending was really abrupt. There needs to be more to this story - are the sequel novels any good?

Does the Final Cut have the voice-overs?

There was text at the beginning, but I don't recall any voiceovers. I think what Abe is referring to is the five-disc version that you can get in a sexxxy metal briefcase. Over here you can get it in either the two-disc version (done so all of those who bought the four-disc last fall wouldn't go into a tizzy) or the five-disc (which rocks).
1054  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 9 February 2008, 07:36:42
I woke up this morning around 8:15 AM so I could talk to my professor about my class discussion that I have to lead on Monday night about Luke Cage, Hero for Hire issues 1-6. He didn't seem to be too bothered that I had only read the first two issues, leaving me with four more issues and an interview with the character's creator. Currently the five questions that I'll be leading the class with are:

1) Why did it take so long for a black superhero to get his own comic book?
2) Why did the creator/writers choose to have most of Power Man's enemies in the first few comics be white people? (A gimmie question, I know)
3) How is Power Man a creation of society?
4) What different black stereotypes are seen in the first six issues? What different kinds of black characters do we see, as classified by Bogle (one of the articles that we have to read for Monday, but I'm not covering that article - nice tie-in though)?
5) How well does the Luke Cage, Hero for Hire series represent black culture, especially of that time period?

I might change the questions as I read more stuff, but those are the ones that I'm currently going with.

I start my accounting internship in the controller's office at my college on Tuesday morning. Yippy-skippy.

As per usual, my roommate and I went to the movies. I've been trying to get him to see Michael Clayton since it first came out back in what, November? But he wouldn't do it, so we decided that we'd just see Juno today. We got an early start to our trip, since he needed to find a plush puffin; his new girlfriend loves them and he's going to buy her one for Valentine's Day. Anyway, as we're getting close to the shopping center near the movie theater, he says that he needs to take a dump. The bathrooms are clean at that theater, so he says that we'll just buy our tickets there for Juno (a 3:15 show) and then he'll go inside and take a dump, even though the movie wouldn't begin for another hour (it was around 1:45 PM).

So we stand in line and he goes first, and tells the lady "One for Michael Clayton". I just stood there dumbfounded as he bought his ticket and went inside. I bought my ticket and went inside, not even sure what to make of it. Here's a movie that I've been trying to get him to see for months, he kept telling me that he had no interest, and suddenly he wanted to go see it. According to him, he enjoys doing stuff like this for fun, as he also tortured me over Rambo and the upcoming film Jumper.

Michael Clayton was great. It kept me in my seat, especially with the explosive ending that kept me guessing. George Clooney is good when he does a drama (Good Night and Good Luck was incredible), so that was one of the main reasons why I wanted to see it, plus the early Oscar buzz (which ended up with this film being nominated for Best Picture even though it doesn't have a chance in hell of winning it) helped that along. Highly recommended.

After that we went to Panchero's, which is a Mexican food restaurant that specializes in burritos and quesadillas. Good stuff, I love my burritos with nothing but rice, steak, chicken, and corn salsa in there.

We went to see a 5:40 showing of Juno, which I thought was good. I don't know if I'd say that it's "Best Picture" worthy, but it was definitely good. Only problem that I had with it is that some teenagers might get the wrong message that if they get pregnant, everything will turn out fine and they'll go through it with plenty of ease. Still, the girl who played Juno was great and there were plenty of laughs.

Continuing our mission for a plush puffin, we hit up a bunch of stores, never finding one. There's penguins out the ass, no doubt to the number of penguin-related films that have been released over the last couple of years, but I was surprised that we couldn't even find a puffin Beanie Baby. All was not lost though, as I picked up the Collector's Edition of Devil May Cry 4 (with bonus art book), 6 Transformers, and two gaming magazines (EGM and Xbox; Barnes and Noble didn't have any new issues of my UK favorites, Edge and GamesTM).

Good day all in all, as I'm now playing Devil May Cry 4 (it kicks awesome ass) while talking to a friend that I haven't talked to for a month.

'Kay, what class is this? 'Cause I'm pretty sure I'll need to take it.

Race and Graphic Novels. It's offered at my college, Misericordia University. Yes, I realize that there's "university" in the name, but 4 out of the 5 years I've been here it was College Misericordia.

I just got done talking with my boss from one of the jobs that I usually work when I'm home from college. Four Seasons (it's a produce factory in PA) had some layoffs last year, and it hit the shift that I work(ed) on really hard. Anyway, my boss had a meeting today with the higher-ups, and they informed her today that in a few weeks, third shift will be no more. Everyone will get moved to various jobs in the company on first and second shift.

I'm glad that everyone still has jobs in the company, but this feels wrong. My former boss will now be working first shift sanitation, making $9/hr. She deserves better than this, she really does.

For me, making money during the summer and winter months never really mattered, because no matter how little I made (summers I would make just over $5000, winter, close to $1000), my college loans would make up the rest. But these people actually depend on these jobs. Some of them have worked at the company for years, and now this is how they end up.

This is just #####ed up.

So far my day has started out pretty well. Rumor has it that a new Wing Commander game is in preproduction, possibly to be done by Bioware now that EA has them in their clutches. If this rumor is true, then I will be The Happiest Boy in All the Land. If not, then it's business as usual.

I'm now sitting here at work at the library. After work, I have to go home and do laundry because I seem to have run out of undershirts today.

The Source is actually supposed to be the start of a new trilogy, but with Adrian Paul's lack of enthusiasm once filming started and the fans being royally pissed after they got their hands on the Russian/Polish release (it was released 8-9 months early over there before getting a proper American release)...the trilogy being finished seems doubtful.

Oh well, at least there's the MUSICAL. And no, I'm not kidding.

But seriously, did anyone check out Highlander: The Search for Vengeance? It's by the guy who did Ninja Scroll, and it's pretty cool.

Just got back from Cloverfield.

It was pretty decent, and did a good job of making NY feel claustrophobic.

Did anyone else find it ironic that the man with the camera was named Hud?

I'm pretty sure that was done on purpose, although I didn't realize the connection until I was on my way home from the midnight showing - I wouldn't have realized it without having played the Descent games years ago.

Currently playing these games:

Beowulf the Game: Got it for $20 at Wal-Mart, and I'm pretty damn sure that I got ripped off. Should have figured out that when a game gets released in November and the game gets marked down that quickly after two months of release - there's something wrong. It's pretty much God of War without the "God" part. Oh yeah, the "War" part is missing too.

Halo 3 - Duh.

Mass Effect - It's like God came down to Earth, handed humanity a game and was like "Play this game that I made."

Turok demo - Ooooh, very nice. I may have to preorder this one.

Most of the stuff that I read are Golgo 13 and Judge Dredd comics. I also like The Punisher and War Machine stuff, but I haven't really kept up with them for the last few years.

This year I'm taking a Race & Graphic Novels class (it is an English/History class). We're reading: The Essential Luke Cage, Maus Vol. 1, American Born Chinese Vol. 1, Green Lantern / Green Arrow Vol. 1, and La Perdida. I've already read Maus before, and I figured that we'd be reading Luke Cage (aka Power Man), however, I've never read any of the other stuff.

Advent Rising - I bought this for $5 over at Circuit City last semester and I was completely blown away. Had I known that it was this awesome, I would have bought it for $50 when it originally came out. After I finished the game, I read that they were releasing Advent Shadow for the PSP...I was all geared up to buy a PSP until I found out that the game had been canceled (along with the rest of the series) six months after Advent Rising had been released. There are glitches a'plenty, but the action, music, and storyline are awesome as all hell. Looking forward to Too Human, as it sounds like it'll be like Advent Rising on steroids.

Call of Juarez - Neat little Western action game that goes back to days of Full Throttle and Myst.

Full Throttle - Damn you LucasArts for cancelling the sequel (along with a Sam & Max sequel) when it was 70% complete.

Jet Set Radio - This awesome series needs another cel-shaded, funk-blasting, spray-painting sequel. Much love to Professor K.

Killer Instinct - I'd love to see a Killer Instinct 3 be made for the 360.

Wing Commander - We need to bring back the space sim genre with the best of them all. The Wing Commander Arena game is fun, but I don't count it as a sequel.

Yesterday was okay. I got home from work around 9:30, to which I changed out of my work clothes and put on normal clothes and went to Eat'n Park for breakfast with my parents. That was good, since I was originally scheduled to be working until 2 PM (which would have resulted in me working both jobs for 24 hours). After breakfast we got my sunglasses and I called up my bank since I never got a new debit card. The conversation with the lady on the other end (who sounded like she hated her job and anyone that called her) was odd, because I wasn't sure if she was there half the time. I'll be getting a new card in 7-14 days...hopefully it gets here by this Saturday, otherwise my parents will have to forward it to me.

After that, I napped until 5, when I took a shower. My mom made me kelbasa skillet for my birthday dinner, which was great because I haven't had it for at least a year. After that, I opened my presents, which were some dress clothes, a Transformer, and a DVD. I also had a cake, which was yellow cake with chocolate icing. Good stuff.

The Steelers were playing the Jaguars, so I watched that upstairs while messing with my new Transformer (took me around 15 minutes to get it into Robot mode) and talking to some friends on the phone. Apparently God wasn't answering all of my prayers, because even though the Steelers came back, they still lost. I ended the night rereading some of my Golgo 13 manga, but I fell asleep around midnight.
