Title: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: Abominator on 2 December 2007, 22:07:15
I'd like to hear your suggestions on what to do with the rest of the site...

The Radio and music downloads are coming back, and the gallery will be all-new, so there's no need to discuss them, but I'm open to pretty much anything else.

Nothing stupid though, please.

We need an official MMM WoW Guild. Or MMM UT Clan. Or MMM Tetris Highscore Ladder. Or something.

ANything that isn't Megaman related.

When you finish the guides and such, it would be nice to have one hub page for the whole section with a timeline of the games in graphical format, like a sort of menu in addition to the other means of navigation that you have planned. I'm sure it'd be a lot of work, but you asked for ideas.

I think we should have a MM Comic Jam to celebrate, but based on Megaman'd characters of our own.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: ASR on 2 December 2007, 22:15:54
I say no more comic jams.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?

I say Comic Jams with no spot-booking.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?

Or how about a one-comic-a-piece contest, showcasing our lives over the haitus?

Post by: ASR on 2 December 2007, 22:20:25
Bleh, none have ever worked out regardless. Maybe force everyone to use Paint (or whatever the equivalent Mac users can reach) and spend no more than 10 minutes on each drawing.

EDIT: I like that idea, John.

Mikero: You'll win the contest with those as drawings.

You figure it out, I'd say a 2 weeks is fine if you have patience. A lot of people are lazy, myself included. Still others are constantly busy, such as Mike.

It also lacks a question mark, which is just gross.

Lunche, you nailed it. I watch it just out of obligation, now. They hooked me, I'll admit, and it is a good show, but it's fading fast. It's not even exciting anymore - I miss the "OMG" moments I had from watching Lost, but that's an entirely different story. That show's going through it's own problems.

Comic Jams should have had original characters. Letting people put their self-characters in = MORE MARY SUES THAN IN THE BACKALLEYS OF FANFICTIONDOTNET.

Yes I was guilty of it BUT SO WAS EVERYONE ELSE.

In fact, I'll go start one right now.

Okay a QUICK rephrase

Sprite theft rule as in;

-Do not steal Sprites ask if you want to use their sprites.

as for the grammar rule;

-I meant buckle it down so no one would get banned for shortening 'you know' by taking the 'Y' and replacing 'ou' with the ' symbol

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I'm freaking out about having my grammar perfect

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?

I have a habit of saying "dunno" instead of "don't know" and although I'd say it's a more extreme form of slang that "yknow" is to "you know", it's still 100% acceptable and thus so is "y'know." Y'know?

"Rhisabier" sounds like a little Asian kid with an interest in Star Wars.

Ha ha ha, if you think he's funny when drunk... energy drinks make him even more hilarious.

I wish I still had my chat logs, I had one in particular with him where he had drank so many energy drinks, his body was spazzing involuntarily.

Led to some scary typos and he was like... really tweaking out. *laughs*

Though it is unanimous, his drunk rants are still epic as hell.

This came up in another forum.

I have always thought that members with 500, or even 1,000 posts should be able to create their own custom avatar (approved by you, of course) for Mchat. It wouldn't be the "50 post rush" kind of thing, because at 500 or 1000 posts it's hard to spam.

There should be strict rules, such as pixel size and things like that so that all of the avatars are consistent.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: preventerWIND on 3 December 2007, 20:28:11
Yeah, custom avatars FTW. Also, it's probably just me but I was hoping for a slight color change. When I saw the new "MMM is down" page, I thought it was going to be black and white because of the new logo. Is the color scheme going to change? That'd be purty neat in my book.

I don't know. Post limit to do X always irks me. At higher numbers it encourages more spam, not less. There should be a better way of handling custom avatars, if they happen.

Can't think of one for the life of me, though.

There's also the "quality control, dammit" part in me that doesn't want to see stupid edits clogging up the chat. Oh, user-created content, you bane and boon.

Not bad but it also means locking every back down to premade small avatars, which I would not mind.

Still. Seems like a lot of work and extra rules to enforce and approvals just so MadReploidDude can have a pink zero helmet with a broadsword and trapeze pants or something, that he'll parade in MChat for maybe two days before he gets bored. Which seems pretty likely to me.

If custom avatars happen, I think it would really only work on a case-by-case basis, and no fuss about post count.

I like the going back to premade avatars, like back in the day, and letting "distinguished" members have custom avatars.  Post count shouldn't be used, as people can psudo spam to get high counts while the better members just don't post as much.

Deleting all mention or reference to Star Force, MMZ, ZX and X5 and up would also be a good direction to go.

I like the going back to premade avatars, like back in the day, and letting "distinguished" members have custom avatars.  Post count shouldn't be used, as people can psudo spam to get high counts while the better members just don't post as much.

Aye. You make a good point, and I totally agree. I just suggested post count because I didn't know what else to base it on.

The only problem that this raises- remember back in the day when everyone would ask to be a mod? I think it will be very similar. EVERYONE will be begging to get custom avatars and complaining when they don't. Unless there was some "don't ask, just be offered" rule, I think it would get out of hand.

Also, hey Rez. Good to see ya.

Deleting all mention or reference to Star Force, MMZ, ZX and X5 and up would also be a good direction to go.

Now, now, secrets of RPM are best kept off of Matrix, out of respect for all parties. There's Skype and PM's that can be sent for inquisitive minds, since you're in luck having the former Admin here to spill the secrets for the curious :P

Ah well.

Anyway, I remember before the boards went back down again, either Snare or Jake convinced a bunch of us to switch our genders to female, and some even changed their avatars to reflect that.

You should make it a flash kind of thing- make it so an overhead type view like old final fantasy where the characters can actually walk around.

That would probably be a *&$% to write though. You should see if Morgan wants to do this project. I think some Guyer-Style could do this place some good. At least tell him to stop by because we love him.

Well he DID say he was rethinking it entirely. I DO know how Mchat works.

When someone wins a MMM award they should get some signature graphic. That would be cool if we have alot of things like that- for instance, Jake's mushroom badge.

Well he DID say he was rethinking it entirely.

I just assumed by entirely, being the rooms and how to run it. I wouldn't think Abe would simply dump the old MChat and replace it with some entirely different one.

Although, I don't know if he could, but when looking at other windows while MChat is on, people tend to no see other people talking. It'd be cool if there was a way the window could flash or something like they do in IM conversations so you know that someone's there.

Throwing ##### into your sig only makes things bloated.  But if people want to do it, I'd say they'd have to choose a "badge" or other image or text.  Sigs should NOT look like entire posts.

Before registration became necessary, people used to cyber in mchat quite a bit.

When you take in mind that most of the girls who participated were actually guys 99.9% time, you can see why random cybering is a bad idea.

Also, family friendly board, etc.

Naw, I believe that was me in an attempt to get people temp banned by MChat's auto-ban function.

You know, I had many ways of getting people banned. I'd dance around with n00bs, making them dance a bunch then stop and call Xero. Hilariousness ensues when they try to prove that I did it too.

This is nonsense! Where am I going to find a man with the last name Benjamin in this day and age?

Poor Rez. Couldn't remember the last name of Benjamin Franklin.

Hundred Dollar Bills are not called "Franklins".  Five Dollar Bills ARE called "Lincolns".

Thanks for playing though.

Sorry Trebek. Unless you can find some exact proof (although this small arguement is pointless) that the nickname of the $100 is "Mr. Benjamin".

All names regarding a Mr. or Mrs. are of a person's last name, thus being "Mr. Franklin", unless otherwise you can prove that his real name was "Benjamin Benjamin".

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: NovaMan XP on 13 December 2007, 02:03:02
To be honest I think 'Mr. Benjamin' sounds better...

Besides, everyone calls it a Benjamin not a Franklin.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: ChaosVortex on 13 December 2007, 02:08:56
I was talking about the president on the dollar bill. When you bribe someone with "Mr. Lincoln", you're regarding the president on the bill. In that sense, it's stupid to call Benjamin "Mr. Benjamin" (although he's not a president).

And I never actually said they're not called Benjamins, but I never really heard them called that.

Yes, it's a reference to what you call cash.  The "Mr." in front is a moot point as far as what I was referencing.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: Mikero on 13 December 2007, 17:18:11
I don't have any of those dolts on my money and I know it's all about the Benjamins.

That said, you would say "I think Mr. Lincoln has something to say about that" as you're slipping some cash, you'd even say "Mr. Washington" if you're trying to bribe on a budget, but you wouldn't say "Mr. Benjamin" and you would say "Mr. Franklin".

Ex.

You: "Let me in"
Me: "No."
You: "Come on, I think my friend Mr. Franklin could reason with you."
Me taking your money: "No. Don't be a dick."

HOWEVER:

You: "I just got four Benjamins from Mickey Free down at the Circle K!"
Me: "I don't care."

Benjamins is used to say what bill unit you're talking about, Mr. Franklin would be used sparingly in only certain situations.

The more you know.

Here's an idea for the future of MMM:

Age cap. As in, however old Rez is, you need to be at least one year younger or you're banned.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?

Well #####, then no one is allowed in the Matrix.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?

I think he means at MOST one year younger.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: ASR on 6 June 2008, 16:20:23
No, at least one year YOUNGER.

Where the least is one year under Rez's age, and the most is 1 year old. Let's say Rez is, say, 92, it means you have to be under 91 years old. I'm right.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: ChaosVortex on 6 June 2008, 16:26:36
Well that's a retarded way to put it. John's makes more sense.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: ASR on 6 June 2008, 16:28:19
No, because John's way means you have to be 91 or OLDER.

At MOST one year YOUNGER means:

Age > 91

At LEAST one year YOUNGER means:

Age < 91

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: Johncarllos on 6 June 2008, 20:21:41
At most one year younger makes sense.
It just implies another whole sentence into the logic.

I'm having trouble translating my thought process into words, but the point IS that according to ASR, the maximum age a matrican has must be no older than one year younger than Rez.

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?
Post by: Fatso on 6 June 2008, 23:05:44
So AT OLDEST they can be 1 year younger than Rez.

It's been under construction for so long . . . I remember how awesome it used to be around 2004 . . . So I can't even imagine how good it'll look when it's done.

Maybe all Abe needs is some postive encouragement, like in BN4, when Megaman's pushing the big wheel in the asteroid's control room, and then everyone single person on Earth is yelling 'Megaman' . . .

Title: Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM?

I have a question. Why has the main site been on hold for such a long time? I'm not trying to rush you Abe, I'm just curious about the situation MMM is in.

He has all the old stuff that was there before, and he could put it up, but that would be kind of lazy. He doesn't want to just put up the old stuff, he's newifying everything. Which is cool.

like in BN4, when Megaman's pushing the big wheel in the asteroid's control room, and then everyone single person on Earth is yelling 'Megaman' . . .

That was extremely gay. Like when the Pokemon cry and their tears bring Mew (or was it Mewtwo?) back to life in that movie.

I hate any of that "if all the children of the world clap their hands at the same time" bullsuck.
