Only cause plants fare poorly in the shady area of town.
Uh I'm in Centrepointe like a quadrillisecond away from Algonquin College. I just hate how everything is so sprawled away in Canadian cities. Everything should be close by, absolutely no cars or other people allowed. Just me and all the stores alone. In walking distance. And also all the people working are NPCs and not actually real.
Even 'Ronto and 'Treal don't have that! Centrepointe, eh... You're kind of far from the best art supplies stores to be honest. The last Wallacks is downtown but I did hear there's a DeSerres like in Bells Corners which shouldn't be too bad. The Algonquin College book store might do you OK for some stuff. They've expanded their supplies since I went there, if you haven't checked it out. There's also a Michael's next to that big ass Ikea but I haven't been in there in years so I'm not sure if it's more "crafty" than "art supplies". I just moved to Barrhaven so I'll have to look into that DeSerres sometime, might be the best option. Edit: DeSerres in "Nepean" (Bells Corners)Bombast Man
For example one of them might be a piano that, when the keys are struck, huge hammers strike down in Mega Man's path.

The whole early access thing isn't something I'm not, strictly speaking, against but it seems easy to use the fact that something is "early access" to deflect criticism
Exactly. And then games languish in that state as the developers move on to something else, since the game has that "good enough I guess" sticker slapped on it (see: ARK Survival Evolved)

I'll have to see more of 20XX's gameplay but I don't think it's my style. Which is unfortunate because I'm all for it and I'm a big fan of people using what is essentially a perfect game (MMX) to design new stuff, but I really don't like the art direction at all as it is. I wish they went for pixel animation over that super smooth flash style.
Just a personal thing but I've never liked that kind of look in any game, it always reminds me of Newgrounds games (some of which were incredible) that I played for free. Plus I have an animator's brain, and generally that art style comes with way too smooth and even animation. It's not just an indie issue either, a lot of professional studio games do it, this was my problem with Rayman Legends.
I have other art and animation issues with 20XX, but I'm likely being too harsh on an early-access indie title. Buuut I'm wary of letting things go because "it's early-access" or "it's indie" in general.

I agree. They don't even try new stuff anymore.
The gameplay doesn't change... I thought Street Fighter 3 was an excellent evolution of the series gameplay, it rebalanced things and added in an incredible counter system. Animations were tighter than ever and they really went for it with character design and storylines. Then they completely trashed it and made Street Fighter 4 just another SF2 game with "new graphix!" I don't know how people that are super serious about fighting games let them do this. It's been the same in sports games for a while now too, but even that might change sooner.
It's like the companies think we just throw our old game systems in the trash whenever we buy a new one. Guess what Capcom, I still play a SNES cart of Super Street Fighter II, and I mean regularly. You're not tricking me into paying $49.99 CDN for SF2, and "Way of the Hado" or whatever it is can suck my dick.

Is Burst like Mighty Gunvolt 1 in that it's supremely short? Like it get it was a nothing throw but when I played there was like 4 levels or something and nothing carried over when I switched characters (which meant restarting everything). I felt like my game wasn't working properly since others seemed to enjoy it.
If Burst is better I might consider picking it up, though I hate what Beck represents and Inti Creates can suck an egg.

Can't get excited about fighting games anymore.
The first version is always some bare bones thing with half the cast being the same characters since 1992, and then I'm expected to pay even MORE money to put in characters that are likely already on the expensive disc/application. And after I do all that rigmarole a new "super turbo" version comes out and I can't see my favourite character (that I BOUGHT) in the new hat or whatever with my lowly original release.
What a shocking release lineup. You mean Chun-Li AND Ryu are launch characters? That's good since 80% of people will only use them anyway. Oh and Iron Man?! Wowee! Oh no, don't worry, I'll just wait until I'm in my 60's to see a real return of any SF3 character(s), or anything new and different in MvC like Baby Head or Luke Cage. Yondu would be perfect. But nah, you g'head guys.
... It's cool that X and Nova are in there though.

I knew I wasn't into it anymore very early on in the project when I saw 2.5D gameplay, I'm happy and lucky I didn't back it, but it bums me out that it will likely make people shy away from crowd funding projects like this. The whole thing with the delays and the ton of money makes it seem like they just knew they'd make money and rested on their laurels. They had the time and cash flow to do something great, and they settled for less than mediocre. I won't be playing this, it's disgusting. It was supposed to be a passion project, by professionals. You got a money-grab that's only as good as a fan game, you should be enraged.
My hope is that Yooka-Laylee does not suffer the same fate. I actually backed that one, but so far so good.

I don't know much about SMBX, honestly. But I was kind of attracted to Mario Maker because it was official. There's been fan-made level editors for ages and stuff, and I don't know if they all work well/seamlessly. Sounds like SMBX doesn't have many issues, I've just noticed in the past that stuff like that accomplishes everything except game feel.
Haven't seen any of Chaos' levels yet (if it's Mario Maker, I've only played it a bit). Alec has some great levels. I have a lot to learn, the ones I have up now are just garbage but people have a tough time beating them-Which doesn't mean they're any good.
For Splatoon, I bought a LAN adaptor and a long ethernet cable. It didn't end up being as cheap as I'd have liked but at least I'd gotten the game as a gift. That fixed 95% of my issues (and gaming on wireless is almost always crappy I hear), with my theory being that the other 5% is a combo of other users and Nintendo.
Disconnects are the main issue. It's not a big deal in turf war but for ranked it's a problem - Disconnects count as a loss. Lag happens either way, especially since it seems to be all one big server and having a game of North Americans and Japanese players can be a bit laggy. Lag is fairly annoying since the game can be very accuracy based, and you can ending up killing someone and then dying after because they shot you a ton of times and it didn't register til later. But when it's going good it's insanely fun.
You don't have to be super competitive. In the normal turf war stuff it's basically meaningless whether you win or lose, you just get a little more cash and xp. The competitive stuff is in ranked mode, which has a bunch of different game modes (tower control, etc.). Either way, you can't actually talk to anybody in a match except for 2 phrases: "Booyah!" and "C'mon!". That's it, and it only seems to actually go out to people in your region, so you don't really have to worry about it feeling like usual online play.
If I were you I'd go with Splatoon first since you have a decent Mario Maker facsimile, and I'll jump in and play with ya anytime if you want.

Sorry to hear that Speed. Though honestly, I think a lot of 3D era games don't age too well so I'm sure a lot of 360 library is binnable anyway. Keep the greats, though. Posted on: 27 August 2015, 12:31:34

I watched the premiere of AHS this season and looked even worse than last, did it pick up at all?
I liked season one a lot, but I actually liked season 2 a lot more.
I am also in the process of rewatching X-Files, and loving every minute of it.

I must say, Abe, that the combination of blue checkers and bright primary colours for the site design have always been inspirational for my own site designs. Up until now I've had blue math webpages, with thick black borders, as if they were copied from a SNES game. Good job!
You know.. I hadn't really thought about it until now but this site design still looks really good. Most of the time if you go back to something started in the 20th century--especially message boards--it looks it. They are usually either ugly, cumbersome, or overcomplicated by the current standards, or all of the above. I know MMM has evolved and updated many times since it's inception but the overall feel was kept intact with truly lasting appeal in aesthetics and functionality. I know believe in intelligent design.

This may just be taste, but seeing a map and reading the tips will always be better than a Youtube video to me.
It's like a recipe. If I follow a text recipe I never have an issue, but constantly stopping a video and going back to see what they did is, for me, counter-productive. It's not fun, it's just monkey see monkey do. At least with a guide you still have to do the thing, see the thing, etc. so they don't rob you of the gameplay, and they're just easier to look at while playing the game.

I always liked the way 2D MN9 was presented originally, THAT looked like fun and I'm not saying that because I'm from a 2D gaming generation, but because it just looked faster and more fun on every conceivable level much like Shovel Knight actually is.
The second I saw the 2.5D look, everything seemed slowed down, stickier, and just... All the issues you had trying to platform with Axl in 2.5D, frankly. And since then basically it's just been disappointing moves after another for me.
I'mma still play it but that's my take on what Rez first mentioned.
Anyway Mighty No. 9 alone isn't going to bring any message board back to being tops, unless it's a Mighty No. 9 message board. If it ends up being a really good series, then maybe it will generate a lot of people coming in.
I think social media just really took a bite out of the message board era, tips and theories are discussed by beardoes on youtube now and that's fine, but I still think what Dragster is thinking about IS possible. Clearly boards are still huge for current games and gamers, there's a ##### ton for things like Bloodborne for example, or even the latest Animal Crossing, so it's not like the concept died or something.
And personally, I came here because a much younger me was neck deep in the Battle Network and mid-X series games, and I thought "I'm really into this, I don't know anyone in my life who's into this, and I want to go back and revisit the old stuff from when I was younger." So a series bringing someone back to MM, or bringing a whole new set of MM fans in, sounds plausible to me, as long as we really are in the eye of a MM break and the series isn't just kaput. But it's likely just kaput.

A little late but... The MMM guides alone would still get a lot of use today. I know there's a ton of guides for MM games out there but these were always OBJECTIVELY my favourite.
There was so much more attention put into them and the maps were gorgeous. A lot of sites just use .txt files and/or bad MS Paint but these would rival an Nintendo Power type zine in their overall look and use.

If no one grabbed it, I'll take that Mighty Gunvolt key off you, I'm more interested in that then the full-on Gunvolt game right now!
I'm not super into the 3D either for Might No. 9, but I think the designs look good enough to overcome that.
