3901  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Comic Book talk (I.E. Marvel, DC, Image and the rest) Spoilers ahead on: 4 January 2009, 21:18:10
I have a metaphorical boner for Geoff Johns' writing.

My favourite DC books right now are Green Lantern, Action Comics, and JSA.
When someone can make Superman relatable without making him a complete wad (Smallville) or an illegitimate father (Superman Returns) they are clearly doing something right.

That said, I'm worried about Blackest Night. It's more of a premise issue than anything.

Before buying JSA I bought and read read Kingdom Come for the first time (for obvious reasons if you've been reading JSA since "The Next Age"). It's very good, as promised.

In Marvel stuff, I'm still surprised at how Spider-Man continues to be good. I need to drop X-Factor, and half the other X titles.

I never finish my stack of comics to read on Fridays at work. Never. I just add to it weekly and get through what I can. I had to drop Punisher War Journal (it was sucking anyway) and some other stuff.

I'm about to read Skydoll, which was leant to me. The name only serves to remind me that I really need to read more of the Flight books.

At first I thought you said "Speed Racer" and then remembered that Speed Racer, the user, liked it and that you also just quoted him so I thought a whole thing was gonna start. And then I read it correctly and shut up.

Run Live through your laptop. Instructables.com has ways to do it, which I how I run the internet on XBox 360 through my Mac. However some of the methods make it impossible to sync your PC with your XBox, although I don't really see the point of that anyway.

3906  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Star Wars Battlefront III surfaces on: 4 January 2009, 20:54:51
Well no, the third is the culmination of it all. You CAN not watch the third, but then Marty learns nothing.

Back To The Future rules, and like most good trilogies the second one is the best one, but the honour of being "The trilogy" belongs to Star Wars. You know which ones.

That reminds me that Abe once told me he used to run with an outfit called "Bif Tannen's Almanac"

The Ford Prefect line of cars was only produced for Britain, and at times some of the previous colonies (Canada, Australia, etc.), from the UK division of Ford in the late 1930's through to the early 1960's. It was popular for hot rod/car modification. It was never sold in the United States.

HAHAHA Here is me being awesome at the New Year's game;

Same night, we met TV's Jon Dore, from the Jon Dore Show. A pretty funny comedian, if you don't know his stuff check it out. We took some photos with him but he's funny so he decided not to look at the camera in any of them :-/ . The guy with him is also on his show.

I told him I couldn't wait for season 2 and he was like "Yeah we're pretty excited about it" but I came off pretty cool about it all, where as my friend Brian kind of just blurted something out, hah! I knew of him when he was only doing standup and people didn't know him, but I didn't mention that.

But still, one could say he was kind of douchy but I think he playing up his character more than anything since he was a little surprised we knew who he was at first.

It was kinda cool.

3923  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Star Wars Battlefront III surfaces on: 3 January 2009, 05:27:27
Don't get me wrong, Revenge looks pretty as hell. Sounds good, and some cool #####. But the story rushes through, never stopping on anything long enough for it to really matter. The acting is... well it's what it was in the one before it. It's passable for a movie that isn't Star Wars.

I hate Jar Jar Binks with passion, but at least Phantom Menace actually feels like a Star Wars movie to me. It's pacing and, well everything is spot on to the atmosphere of the old movies with the exception of the kiddie plot. If less of it focused on playful things like anytime someone calls the boy Ani, and there were no Gungans, it's possible that there wouldn't have been such a problem.

None of the plot was cluttered with filling in weird stuff no one cares about like Count Dooku or anything. Everything seemed to have a purpose to the general saga if you leave out the Gungans.

Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith look the part but fail so massively at making me feel like any of this actually connects to A New Hope. Say what you want about The Phantom Menace but it WAS necessary in the telling of this story, unlike a LOT of Episodes 2 and 3 which just had cool looking stuff for the sake of it.

I'll watch Obi-Wan fight Darth Maul ANYTIME over anything you see in the next two movies (except Natalie Portman in that white suit in Episode II, huhuhhorndog), and in my opinion it's actually one of the best lightsaber fights of all of them. It's the only one where the playful choreography actually worked and looked like they were actually fighting. When Anakin and Obi fight in E3, there's a part where they both just swirl their lightsabers around themselves, which couldn't be a defensive or offensive move at all and is clearly just there for the looks, which is stupid.

And it had a very nostalgic Star Wars ending. But best of all; No Hayden.

Then why don't you?

Was saving it for another post, bro.

3927  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: The Mega Man 1 Score Thread on: 3 January 2009, 03:39:23
It's OK the like the series, I guess. I realize the story could be interesting, but I hate it for a lot of reasons other than ranking and how the plot assrapes the X series.

I would like it more if it was just a completely separate thing that didn't try to connect to X (and Legends!) or pretend to have the same characters in it. But that's an old rant and I've got better things to do plus I don't really want to scare you away since you seem like you could become a decent member even though I have to disagree with you a lot.
3928  MegaMan Series / Battle Network Series / Re: Which Battle Network Game is Best? (Poll) on: 3 January 2009, 03:35:53
Against my better judgment I clicked that. I should have taken your word for it.

In a minute I knew I didn't like that site. It looks good, which makes it seem like it's smart, but poking around a bit I realized it's not really made well. It's cluttered, which is an amateur mistake in site design.

I can't really find where it says BN4 is any good on there, and I don't really want to stay longer. I just went to see if the BN4 praise on the site is just ripped off from the back of the game's box.

The listing of MM Forums doesn't seem to have MMM or RPM, which is... Well that's just weird to me.

I didn't really read anything of unique value there except for a bit on the Buyer's Guide, which I only really assume is thorough because the page is long with lots of links and sections (but I don't know, the rest of the site looks cluttered).

Edit: I found the BN4 page, by having to go through other pages (bad site design). Not really an unfair review, but it scored high because of how things change when you break down things and rate it. I definitely don't agree with the 85% thing, the game isn't even fun in the first place so that should be an automatic middle finger.

It didn't help when the girl was like "Look! ... Zombies!" and then didn't really do anything about them until I went close (which was after I killed a bunch of them by thowing wood panels and explosive barrels their way).

And yeah, the whole time she's talking to people on the computer I just kept strafing looking at the doors and then looking out through the window waiting for a bunch of zombies to come into the bunker thing.

If I had like, a second player or something more responsive manning the gun I'd feel better.

And stilts maybe.

The only thing I liked about the Clone Wars cartoons stuff is the character design styles and the one short where Kit Fisto grins at the end. Everything else is beyond garbage, much like the rest of this stuff that tries to shoehorn the incredibly awful Episode III into the best (and #####ing only, 'cause ##### you LOTR dorks) trilogy of movies.

The Phantom Menace was better than Revenge Of The Sith AND Attack Of The Clones and I can tell you why.
3937  MegaMan Series / Battle Network Series / Re: Which Battle Network Game is Best? (Poll) on: 3 January 2009, 03:09:20
Excuse me, sir Rez, but have you played AND beat 4 or 6? Sure, 5 did indeed suck, but 4 and 6 were really great. (and MMHP agrees with me.)

4, yeah, it's hard and all, and there are some parts that are just annoying beyond limits (the story comps) But there are plenty of fun parts in the game. In fact, 89% of the time I played it, I was having a good time. The music is pretty cool, and exciting. The climax was good, and replaying it a second time was a treat.

UHM.

How is 4 great at all? How is 4 hard at all?
Duo was a challenge, sure, but it was the ONLY real challenge I can remember in the game. And even then, he wasn't much (if at all) harder as Alpha from BN3 and Alpha wasn't really all that hard if you had decent piercing chips.

Replaying was NOT a treat, it was a C H O R E. I replayed the second time for the sole reason of getting a soul I wanted from a tournament. Got as far as that tournament, but then the #####ing game made it so I couldn't fight who I needed to again!

There was no way I was going to finish my second run (it would accomplish nothing, too) and play a THIRD time for the chance do get the soul. Forget it. Especially when I didn't have a good time for "89%" of the game. More like I had a crappy time through 100% of the game, all of which was less than half as long as the games before it.

And what "climax" was there? A story always follows this; Setting, Conflict, Rising Action, Climax, Denouement. I think BN4 managed to drag itself through the first two, barely getting the notion of decent conflict across, but the rest? No way. Not in any well made way, at least. Rising Action? Nope, just going from tournament to tournament without really knowing why. Climax? Repeat this paragraph. Denouement? No. It just ends and no one cares.

BN4 completely turned me off the series, and I loved the other ones. I didn't play 5 or 6 because of 4, and I can't really comment on those other than to say that I've never heard anything good about them from anyone who's opinion is usually good (whether I agree or not).

I'm sorry (kinda), but MMHP must be full of MMZ and Axl fans too. And people that like horses or something. ... Horses.

I know it's your opinion, I'm just letting you know how I see it.
That is; Correctly.
