601  MegaMan Series / Legends Series / Re: Virtual Console on: 19 November 2008, 22:39:07
As well as the x, y and z buttons. The C-Stick would be far too finnicky for controlling, say, subweapons (C-Right IIRC)
602  MegaMan Series / Legends Series / Re: Virtual Console on: 19 November 2008, 18:07:34
Controls for the 64 edition were already iffy enough without the different configurations of the Classic and 'cube controllers. Giving it a good hard think, it might be doable, but there's no button on the Classic Controller mapped to C-Up IIRC (maybe it was C-Down).
603  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 19 November 2008, 16:42:01
I feel for you.

That reminds me, the United Way threw a book sale at my university yesterday. I was walking by and noticed a rather large selection of science fiction and fantasy.

Picked up four novels:

Bearing an Hourglass and With a Tangled Skein by Piers Anthony (I read On a Pale Horse some seven or eight years ago and promised myself I would read the rest of the series sometime... cut to present day)
The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov (not sure why I haven't read this yet)
Mostly Harmless by Douglas Adams (I haven't read books 2, 3 or 4, but I figure a series like this works similarly enough to the Jerry Cornelius saga for me to read the books in any order I damn well please and none of the others were on sale that I could see)

Total bill: four dollars. No word of a lie.

Read all of Mostly Harmless last night and realized at the end that I really should not have read the books out of order, but whatever.
604  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 18 November 2008, 22:50:03
You say that like it could have been something other than crap to begin with.
605  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 18 November 2008, 22:33:00
Wow, now I have to go back and listen for them.
606  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Trip Down Memory Lane! on: 18 November 2008, 22:31:51
##### YES

I've been rewatching that series recently.
607  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 18 November 2008, 21:23:23
It's okay, but even I have difficulty getting myself to watch the show, and in fact I haven't seen any of the new season yet.

Casting was #####ing terrible. Nobody at all looks in place there.

I have no opinion one way or another about the new movie.
608  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 18 November 2008, 19:30:52
World of Goo.

Best.

Puzzle Game.

Ever.

Period.
609  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Oh Snap! MM3 is out for the VC. on: 18 November 2008, 00:25:34
If there was going to be a general rule derived either way, it would be in favour of the 'bad', but point granted, that was a bit too absolute.
610  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: That Music Game on: 17 November 2008, 19:17:03
The Eagles

1. Are you male or female?
-James Dean

2. Describe yourself.
-Desperado

3. What do people feel when they're around you?
-Wasted Time

4. How would you describe your previous relationship?
-Victim of Love

5. Describe your current relationship.
-There's a Hole in the World

6. Where would you want to be now?
-In the City

7. How do you feel about love?
-Heartache Tonight

8. What's your life like?
-Life in the Fast Lane

9. What would you ask for if you had only one wish?
-Tequila Sunrise

10. Say something wise.
-Take it Easy

In the City is a stretch, but they did cover it and Joe Walsh was a member of the band.

Same deal with Heartache Tonight, technically a Bob Seger song but they collaborated with him on it too.
611  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: Show your Music! on: 17 November 2008, 16:14:01
Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays

Such a silly song unless you think too hard about it. Then it just becomes depressing.
612  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 16 November 2008, 22:29:27
On second inspection, the only notable thing about your 'super awesome mega box' is the Dreamcast in the back there.
613  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 16 November 2008, 22:21:44
Nobody likes your box.
614  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 16 November 2008, 20:58:19
#####TING BRICKS

While cleaning up the hazard zone known as my bedroom I came across $400 I had written off as a loss.

This means it's new ZEN time.
615  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Oh Snap! MM3 is out for the VC. on: 16 November 2008, 20:29:28
Actually the graphics look less crisp and more smooth with antialiasing, but I understand what you're saying.

My issue was with the control scheme.
616  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Oh Snap! MM3 is out for the VC. on: 16 November 2008, 20:26:35
It's a port.

Ports are bad.
617  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Favorite Megaman x boss on: 14 November 2008, 23:42:33
I would not like to hear the X1 soundtrack done using anything but the X1 instruments. It already had one of the best sample sets of any SNES game.
618  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 14 November 2008, 19:26:23
Negatory, good sir. Having used both (the iPod was a nano from two generations ago, don't know if anything has changed much since then), I can give a quick rundown of the obvious pros and cons:

+Clean, crisp display
+#####ing invincible most of the time - my incident was an aberration (you can't say that about any Apple product)
+Format-agnostic (will play basically any type of audio you throw at it, compressed or uncompressed, except for protected AAC and I think FLAC, and supports a wide range of video codecs)
+Playlist creation and editing on-the-fly.
+No synchronization. This is my biggest gripe with iPods other than fragility and anal-retention concerning audio/video codecs. Synchronization is unbe#####inglievably stupid.
+SD card slot for expanded capacity.

-Navigation is somewhat clunky and unintuitive, unlike iPod which has pretty good menu organization
-Much shorter battery life (like, maybe 3/4 as much)
-Unreliable battery indicator
-Can't run programs from it (shows up as a media player, not a removable hard drive)
-#####ing anal video resolution/filesize requirements. If it's not 320x240 and between like 600-1000Kbps the ZEN won't play it. This is strange considering how open it is with video codecs.

I've had a year of cumulative use with each brand, and hands-down I'd give the ZEN the edge, unless Apple has found a way to turn ##### into wine in the last year.

EDIT: So, turns out there's no choice in the matter, the ZEN is totally broken now. Yay for totally reconfiguring a year-old second-hand iPod... can't wait until I've gotten past the frantically-saving-up-for-second-semester phase, because I've lost about $250 in broken and almost-broken audio equipment over the last two or three weeks. Even my #####ing portable-speaker-sized headphones need replacing.
619  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Favorite Megaman x boss on: 14 November 2008, 16:19:22
Spark Mandrill
Boomer Kuwanger
Armoured Armadillo
Fortress 1
Fortress 2
Sting Chameleon
Flame Mammoth
Chill Penguin
Ending
Cast
Credits

That's eleven, and I like each one of them more than Storm Eagle, and there are several more which are marginal.

Don't get me wrong, it's great - it's just that there's so much other awesomeness in the soundtrack that I don't understand its dominance.
620  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Favorite Megaman x boss on: 14 November 2008, 16:03:10
Sting Chameleon was extremely annoying for the longest time.

EDIT: I hate Storm Eagle.

I hate Storm Eagle so much.

It's his damn theme. I'm okay with that theme - it's pretty good, I'll admit, the whole soundtrack is awesome - but I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYBODY LOVES THAT SONG SO DAMN MUCH. Every time I hear about Mega Man X music it's always STORM EAGLE STORM EAGLE STORM EAGLE DUUUH DUT DUT DUT DUH-DUH-DUH DAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH when there are like at least ten or twelve better songs in the game.
621  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 14 November 2008, 16:01:07
I find it hard to imagine a less comfortable creative environment for me.

Anyways... ##### ##### ##### ##### ##### ##### #####

#####

I dropped my ZEN again yesterday, and while that's happened a million times and I rarely worry about it, this time the #####ING LCD BROKE. Now I'm left with no option but to

a) use my ZEN without the display - I have an encyclopedic knowledge of the menus anyway

b) use an iPod

I'm going with option A for as long as humanly possible.
622  MegaMan Series / StarForce Series / Re: Ruyse no Rockman 3 on: 13 November 2008, 22:54:33
Honestly I don't know why we even have a board for Star Force.
623  MegaMan Series / StarForce Series / Re: Ruyse no Rockman 3 on: 13 November 2008, 22:46:45
Besides, what else is this thread good for?
624  MegaMan Series / StarForce Series / Re: Ruyse no Rockman 3 on: 13 November 2008, 22:27:48
Isn't it great?
625  MegaMan Series / StarForce Series / Re: Ruyse no Rockman 3 on: 13 November 2008, 21:33:04
THIS.

IS.

JEOPARDY!
626  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 13 November 2008, 16:32:38
No, actually Wing was the least boring and least overly-political of any Gundam I've ever seen. He might be thinking about SEED.
627  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 13 November 2008, 05:49:00
I'm obviously confusing it with another Gundam with an extra G somewhere.

G-UNIT maybe? Something like that. I'm too lazy to look it up.
628  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 13 November 2008, 05:41:42
From what I've heard, it's Gundam Wing projected into some sort of alternate universe or something. I'm not entirely clear on it all and I don't really care, but the mobile suits are all supposedly ripped right from Wing.
629  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: Show your Music! on: 13 November 2008, 00:45:33
I used to really not like that song, but it's grown a bit on me.

The Eagles - The Last Resort

Waaaay too beautiful to be the product of any human mind.
630  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 12 November 2008, 21:32:08
Almost halfway. My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks so I promised myself I would hit 50,000 by then (regardless of whether I've actually finished the story or not) and have been pacing myself accordingly.

It's going surprisingly smoothly, which is why I've been able to keep up on the internet as well as in school while still balancing this humongous project in between the two.
631  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 12 November 2008, 18:50:43
Saw The Shining last night. Surprisingly, it's the first time I've ever seen it. Wonderful movie, reminded me how great an actor Nicholson is, now I need to go find myself a copy of the novel.

In a totally unrelated coincidence (because I was watching the movie I had to put off my contribution to my November novel until around 11, then I did three hours of work on it), I only got four hours of sleep last night and now my body is doing weird ##### against my will, like trying to fall asleep.
632  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Which X Character do u dislike? on: 11 November 2008, 23:40:54

633  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Oh Snap! MM3 is out for the VC. on: 11 November 2008, 23:30:29
Best way to use the 2P controller is for the extended ending song.
634  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on: 11 November 2008, 20:31:02
Took me like five tries on that crab where I'd totally killed it but didn't realize that the thing above me was an elevator :S
635  MegaMan Series / ZX Series / Re: Advent on: 11 November 2008, 20:26:30
Better story (still not good but doesn't make me want to throw my DS across the room), less rape-you-up-the-ass difficult, dual screens made certain functions easier (even though those functions were by-and-large stupid), and they're not actually defiling the X series characters anymore, just their 'souls'.
636  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Oh Snap! MM3 is out for the VC. on: 11 November 2008, 20:22:52
That's a function of how the NES works, not this particular port.

Just did a third run, fifty minutes flat. Still not great, but tolerable.
637  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Oh Snap! MM3 is out for the VC. on: 11 November 2008, 05:28:30
Took like ten tries to install the update, but now I have MM3 and just about to beat it for the second time.

First time was absolutely brutal. I swear that Wiimote raped my thumbs. I should bring it up on charges. The game I've beaten almost as many times as any other and three years ago would NEVER finish in over an hour, took 90 minutes. #####ing terrible.

This second run is looking more reasonable, though still clunky.
638  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcoming Games Topic on: 11 November 2008, 00:16:40
In Canada we actually get our debit cards from the bank, not the company that controls the bank.
639  MegaMan Series / ZX Series / Re: Advent on: 11 November 2008, 00:02:21
ZX games are good, but not Zero.
640  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Gems on X, Zero, Axl head? on: 10 November 2008, 23:37:24
When in doubt, rerecord.

Worth the time? Probably not. Viable? Hell yes.
641  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Oh Snap! MM3 is out for the VC. on: 10 November 2008, 23:33:33
Right, yeah, I have to update my Wii first.

Which means I have to get the backdoor IOS installer I've been putting off acquiring.

Bah, I'll do it later.
642  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcoming Games Topic on: 10 November 2008, 21:29:08
That's a good policy. I intend to go as long as I can without credit.
643  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Gems on X, Zero, Axl head? on: 10 November 2008, 20:44:03
Better than the iPod in every single way

AND NO PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE, BITCHES - it's all optional extras like a CD ripper and video converter.
644  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Megaman 9 on: 10 November 2008, 18:56:19
I've never been sure how to interpret that sentence in MM4's intro anyway. It could just be a new Mega Buster, or it could be THE new Mega Buster. Doesn't help that it was only shown as "P" before then.
645  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: Show your Music! on: 10 November 2008, 17:01:30
The Eagles - Wasted Time

Always thought it was a great song, but for whatever reason over the last couple of days it's become my number-one favourite song ever.
646  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcoming Games Topic on: 10 November 2008, 16:50:24
#####, now I have to go get that.

Good thing I saved up 500 Wii Points.
647  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: The Official Mega Man 9 Topic on: 10 November 2008, 16:39:57
So really you COULD just move your fingers mid-play if it was necessary.

Too used to SNES games to not use B jump Y shoot with the Classic Controller.

For the longest time my SNES controller's B button was broken (and when I finally cracked open the controller to take a look I discovered that the soft jellified pad holding the contacts that constitute the input part of the 'buttons' was actually torn at the B button, among other problems with the controller, most of which arose from simple old age), and I had to remap B and Y to A and X for what games I could, and I hated it.
648  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: MMM Memories on: 10 November 2008, 16:35:26
Yeah, it was this super-cool thing where there were, like, guides and #####.
649  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: The Official Mega Man 9 Topic on: 10 November 2008, 00:01:47
I haven't strayed from Classic Controller + Control Type 2 since a week after the game came out.
650  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 9 November 2008, 20:00:45
If I had a 360, the main selling point would probably be the soundtrack. Because Kirkhope is almost as much a god among composers as David Wise is.
