best manga i've ever read is sunny by taiyo matsumoto. and they're finally translating ping pong, too!! also really enjoying delicious in dungeon, beastars, and mob psycho 100. jojo is a fav, too.
been getting into ursula k leguin lately. the left hand of darkness blew me away, and i'm partway through the dispossessed now. incredible. easily my new favorite sci-fi author.
also slowly chipping away at city of quartz, about the history of LA w/ a leftist slant. dark, highly-researched stuff about everything the corrupt real estate land deals to the function of noir as a lens to cut through the facade and show the city for what it really is.

awwww i barely ever pop in here anymore but i'm glad i did! thanks for posting this, mike!!
and thank you to anyone who bought it and enjoyed it!
i toyed with a save feature but like Mike says, there's a timer on the game and i designed it from the get-go to feel like a visual novel played in the style of an arcade game - see how far you can get in one go, and be okay with starting over later. i wanted to encourage multiple playthroughs! plus i don't think most folks are able to beat it on their first try. it was especially hard to balance the difficulty, so i'm sorry if anyone has any trouble with it!
it was a lot of fun to make and it's gratifying to finally have it out there in the world. love y'all!!!

in retrospect, i like bioshock infinite a whole lot less than i did while playing it. most of it just story stuff that i can't stand now that i have some distance from it, but some of it is just the fact that it's a FPS when it probably didn't have to be, and the way certain gameplay mechanics just don't make sense or even need to be there.
on the other end of the spectrum, i beat The Last Of Us about a week ago and THAT'S how you perfectly meld a wonderful story with great gameplay. i'm only comparing them because nova just made a post about them both, but i feel like The Last Of Us is an entirely different league from Bioshock Infinite, just in terms of story and gameplay.
also holy hell i suck at any game that requires shooting. for a while there i thought i would just never be able to finish The Last Of Us.

Little Inferno is neat but overshadowed by how great World of Goo was. Thomas Was Alone is fantastic but I haven't thought about it much since playing it. Dear Esther is pretentious and artsy but I had a good time with it. Real short.
Hotline Miami, though? One of the best games I've played in years. Absolutely phenomenal. The Bundle is worth it for this game alone.

i have read MSPA religiously every single day since Problem Sleuth and i feel like it's the absolute nerdiest community i belong to despite the fact that i don't think i enjoy it for the same reasons everyone else seems to
i admire andrew hussie so much. i think he's a genuine comedic genius and the pre-eminent storyteller of the internet generation.

mostly it just seems like you spent twice as much time drawing the boobs than literally anything else on her body - the amount of detail just doesn't match the rest of the drawing (which is otherwise great) Posted on: 24 April 2013, 23:29:29

With Breaking Bad almost ending, you might as well just catch up now... or, I guess just wait. There are 8 episodes left, and it might be fun to be a part of the "community" as the whole thing comes to a close. I've gotta' say, the amount of cards they have up in the air and their track record of incredible payoffs have me real pumped for the ending. These writers have never let me down yet - I'm either always entirely satisfied or pleasantly caught off guard with a believable yet unexpected shocker. Just a super entertaining piece of television.

I just found out about this game - it's short, it's tight, and if it were a bit longer and more fleshed out, it'd be the best MegaMan game since the old days.
I got it on the 3DS download shop, but apparently it's also available for the iPhone. I don't know how it would control on there, so if you have a 3DS... get it on the 3DS. It's fantastic. It's even got two playable characters that each control a bit differently, and then a third when you beat it. (The third is a duck that can't shoot, gets killed in two hits, and can flap his wings a bit to better avoid enemies. You get to try playing through the whole game as the duck.)
There are even a few overt MegaMan references, ranging from some musical cues to disappearing blocks to ElecMan's electric spark obstacles. The only downside is that it's so short - unless you're me, and you count that as a plus. It just feels very tight.

yeah man facebook is just a communication tool, like e-mail or the phone. it's integral in my life and i don't mind it for a second, nor do i ever feel bothered by it. i think i use it an acceptable amount and i've always been kind of annoyed by the "anti-facebook" mentality.

Don't drink. Never had any desire to. Honestly don't think I ever will, but I also don't ever have an answer any time somebody asks "Why don't you drink?"
I always wanna' get real goofy and if everyone is drunk then they get goofy and then I can get goofy and it's way more fun for me if everyone else is goofy with me
but i bet like if i drank i would get too goofy and even the drunk goofs would be all goofed out

If you play Luigi's Mansion a certain amount of time, it unlocks two more maps (one of which is extremely similar to the second one, unfortunately.) That's by far my favorite game on there. Such a blast to play with a group.

Ah, the Adventure Time game is pretty fun. I'm not done yet but it looks like I'm flying through it pretty quickly. Love the title screen music.
Oh, and Zero Mission is my favorite Metroid game. I should replay that.
Just finished the Walking Dead Telltale games. Fantastic. More like interactive Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books than point-and-click games, but fantastic for exactly that reason. If you play the first episode and like it, you'll be on board for the whole trip.

Mike, that means a lot, both the praise about the stand-up and the shorts. All you MMM guys all hold a special place in my heart so hearing good words from here means even more. This place actually helped shape my sense of humor in many ways, and served as a pretty good creative outlet for some of those formative years. And Mike, I've always really admired your work. Glad it's mutual. Okay so I'm finishing up a new short and I'm extremely proud of this one... and there's a really big surprise in it. I want to treat you guys to it early before it's all finalized. The surprise is Simon Pegg. He actually agreed to film a scene over Skype, and it was one of the most exciting things to ever happen to me. This is the ROUGH CUT and not the final version... we aren't done with the musical score and we're going to color grade the entire thing so it looks even better. There are also small transitions and little moments I plan on tinkering with or touching up so it all flows together more smoothly. https://vimeo.com/55900018PASSWORD: friedgold

Dustforce is the BEE'S KNEES. Vessel is pretty cool and I've heard good things about SPAZ but it ain't my bag. Get this one for Dustforce alone (you need a gamepad, though, trust me.)

Watch Season 4 of Breaking Bad now. Absolutely nuts. By far my favorite show on TV right now, although Mad Men is always giving it a run for its money (and its the better show - BB is just more fun overall.)
And Legend of Korra is great so far.
