Title: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Jwhude on 14 November 2008, 03:05:01
I choose Storm Eagle because he looks awesome, and is really noble in Maverick Hunter X.

I choose Storm Eagle because he looks ugly, and is the first Maverick I ever beat.

I actually meant to replace storm eagle with armored armadillo.
Huh.

Storm Eagle for me. WIND BOSSES WOT WOT

Sting Chameleon was extremely annoying for the longest time.

EDIT: I hate Storm Eagle.

I hate Storm Eagle so much.

It's his damn theme. I'm okay with that theme - it's pretty good, I'll admit, the whole soundtrack is awesome - but I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYBODY LOVES THAT SONG SO DAMN MUCH. Every time I hear about Mega Man X music it's always STORM EAGLE STORM EAGLE STORM EAGLE DUUUH DUT DUT DUT DUH-DUH-DUH DAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH when there are like at least ten or twelve better songs in the game.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Johncarllos on 14 November 2008, 16:10:00
...
Storm eagle's theme is one of the best though.

There are no 10 or 12 better songs in that game.
Maybe 1 or 2 depending on who you talk to.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Fatso on 14 November 2008, 16:19:22
Spark Mandrill
Boomer Kuwanger
Armoured Armadillo
Fortress 1
Fortress 2
Sting Chameleon
Flame Mammoth
Chill Penguin
Ending
Cast
Credits

That's eleven, and I like each one of them more than Storm Eagle, and there are several more which are marginal.

Don't get me wrong, it's great - it's just that there's so much other awesomeness in the soundtrack that I don't understand its dominance.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: preventerWIND on 14 November 2008, 17:25:20
I agree with Fatass, Storm Eagle's theme is great but overrated, and there are tons of better songs in the game.

Like the cast theme, where X is running back on the highway.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Majikn on 14 November 2008, 17:57:42
When I get to Fortress 2 a nostalgic chill steals over me. Because of that music.

Every time I hear about Mega Man X music it's always STORM EAGLE STORM EAGLE STORM EAGLE DUUUH DUT DUT DUT DUH-DUH-DUH DAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

Made my day.

Yeah I don't even like Storm Eagle's theme that much. I liked it when I was much younger, I guess because... well I don't even know. I just liked it. Now it's just another song to me.

To YOU anyway! It's overrated and you know it! It's exactly as Fatass says, it's one of the first thing that comes up when you talk about X1, which I have a first hand experience in. My friends; who aren't huge MM fans, always bring that up when I talk about X1.

There are tons of songs in the game which are better than Storm Eagle, you just have to give them a good listen. Stage Select, Cast roll, Boomer's stage, the Sigma stages.. and even the Sigma battle.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Xero on 14 November 2008, 23:20:35
I would like to hear the X1 soundtrack done using X8 instruments.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Fatso on 14 November 2008, 23:42:33
I would not like to hear the X1 soundtrack done using anything but the X1 instruments. It already had one of the best sample sets of any SNES game.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: preventerWIND on 14 November 2008, 23:56:12
Just listen to the MHX OST, especially since the X8 OST only has a few memorable tracks.. MHX is probably the best you'll get, despite it missing a track.

X8's music was awful.  X8's instrument samples are INFINATELY inferrior to X1s.

I would not like to hear the X1 soundtrack done using anything but the X1 instruments. It already had one of the best sample sets of any SNES game.

Right-o, the ending themes must've skipped me. I can understand password, but they still should've done something with the ending stuff, they could've fit them into the ending cutscene.

I still hold that everyone is ridiculous for not like Duff McWhalen.

I realize X5 ain't even close to all that, and I realize it's a rather stupid idea, but there's charm in that there ridiculosity. At least to me, anyway.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss

If I remember correctly, Duff McWhalen is situated somewhere around Canada as well. Which makes him even more awesome!

Well, not to you 'merican's anyway.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss

Yeah but who do they have to brag about?

I think Duff McWhalen might be from Nova Scotia.

Yeah but who do they have to brag about?

The cap? Whatever though, we have a whale, a robot whale. A robot Scottish whale!

Considerin' the name and how close to the ocean Nova Scotia is, I'm thinkin' your thought is right.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Mikero on 15 November 2008, 02:50:47
Yeah, he might not really be Scottish. He might be from "New Scotland" (Nova Scotia.. YUCKBALLSEW). Now my grandpa, he's ACTUALLY from Scotland and moved to Canada when he was eight. Bad. Ass.

Actually, Scotia is probably really nice but I've only been in passing. On my way to the red sands of Prince Edward Island.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: preventerWIND on 15 November 2008, 02:58:30
I'd love to get around more of Canada, except for the northern part of Canada, which sounds like it'll be a dull and boringful time.

I only have bit of Scottish in me, since my ancestors came from Scotland to Portugal way back when, people never believe me that I'm Portuguese when I tell them. This last name is the only reassuring fact that I'm Scottish, and personally, I'd rather be Scottish than Portuguese.

About Storm Eagle, although I like his theme too, I don't see it as the best. It's too repetitive.

I love Armored Armadillo and Spark Mandrill's more.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Majikn on 15 November 2008, 04:12:21
I like Spike Rose (the Japanese name is better this time around) in theory but I obviously dislike MMX5.

Armored Armadillo's theme is amazing and much better than Storm Eagle's.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: ChaosVortex on 15 November 2008, 04:40:44
I know. I can't get enough of it.

Except in MHX. They made it a bit crappier somehow, but it's still good. They did a good job on Boomer Kuwanger's though.

Those are my two favorites, but I tend to lean toward Storm Eagles a little more. I don't know why everyone else likes it, I just find the tune catchy.

Storm Eagle is overrated. A decent level theme shouldn't be the only reason to like a boss.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and vote for Sting Chameleon. I love his attack, his stage, his stage theme, and the fact that he's a reptile.

I don't see how any MMX stage theme is overrated.

I like Gravity Beetle's stage theme from MMX3 a lot.

If I recall correctly how it tastes, it's kind of sour. I don't like sour very much in cold treats.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: ChaosVortex on 4 February 2009, 19:32:29
I loved those as a kid. Still do.

If I'm not mistaken, they did something similar to Pokemon, making Pikachu pops.

Dairy Queen used have Dennis the Menace pops just like that.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Mikero on 5 February 2009, 01:57:04
This one is new. I can tell because of the TMNT logo on the wrapper, which is their newer one. So I haven't tried it.

When I was a youngling, though, they had another version. Bigger. Probably a lot better.

They made them out of everything, Pokemon, D the M, whatever. But originally there was only like a Baseball, Basketball, Football, Soccer ball, (but not Tennis ball) and then freshly made up characters just for that so they could add further gumball noses/eyes and such (there was a point where the gumball was instituted into the Base/Foot/Basket/Soccer ball but it was always very weirdlike).

These were always my favourite types of things to get from "The Dickie Dee Man" (the guy on the tricycle-slash-ice cream store thing) as a youth, but if they didn't have them I'd get that "Rocket" popsicle which was three colours/flavours; Red, then white, then blue. Delishmael, then tastyriffic, then succulincredible.

I'm really dating myself now because Dickie Dee doesn't exist anymore.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: preventerWIND on 5 February 2009, 02:05:23
The Dickie Dee was the greatest! I remember getting Sonic The Hedgehog popsicles, like the one above, his nose or two eyes were the gumballs, and they were mighty glorious. I bought one of those types of popsicles with a buddy of mine a few years back.. a Vader one, obviously advertising Episode 3. To our surprise the hype of nostalgia hadn't faded, as they tasted great. But we were left looking retarded because of our blue mouths..

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Mikero on 5 February 2009, 02:24:28
I still can't really place what they taste like other than "really bitchin'", and yeah Sonic ones were a rarity at one point but were worth the effort to get one.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: preventerWIND on 5 February 2009, 02:28:10
They tasted creamy.. It was made out of a cross between ice cream and a popsicle.

Wind, happened to me all the time.

I loved eating the Pikachu ones.

The flavor is hard to describe, but if anything it's like sherbet.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Mikero on 5 February 2009, 02:41:53
Again, that's consistency. Taste-wise it's something completely unique almost. If I knew what this type of treat was called I could probably find out how they're made.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Johncarllos on 5 February 2009, 02:44:01

A bit creamier maybe.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: preventerWIND on 5 February 2009, 02:47:34
Yeah, that nails the consistency. Creamier, thicker sherbet. The taste varied from character to character.. heh

It's hard to be fast with no depth perception.

A bit creamier maybe.

And what pray tell does sherbet/sorbet taste like? Because I've had no fewer than seven different kinds.

Yeah, that nails the consistency. Creamier, thicker sherbet. The taste varied from character to character.. heh

Yeah but there was something else, I can't pin it.

I'd probably know what you were talking about if I knew what you were talking about!

Seriously, that's all I can remember, creamy stuff that makes your mouth blue/green/whatever. There was also this foamy texture to the cream.. that's all I can say..

Ugh. I have the memory of the taste PERFECTLY in my mouth but I can't describe it. But now I REALLY need one of those.

I had 'em all the time as a kid. All the time. Even winter.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: Majikn on 5 February 2009, 16:35:05
All I can think of was that the green parts were sour. But that might not even be true.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: ASR on 5 February 2009, 16:49:34
It was a kind of sour taste, but none of them were sour.

It's a semi-fruity, tangy, creamy, fulfilling, icy, juicy, sorbet sort of flavor. It has all of those qualities.

Remember when if you got them really cold, parts would be frozen and you could lick them and your tongue would stick for a second or two? Aaaaah.

I HATE YOU GUYS.

And here I thought I was the only one who was getting screwed over by my local Dairy Queen in the winter.

Title: Re: Favorite Megaman x boss
Post by: ASR on 6 February 2009, 00:25:01
There's one that's open all-year-round that's twice the distance from the one that closes.

But of course, that doesn't matter since I'm away at college now, and the only Dairy Queen I can actually get to through normal means is indeed closed all winter. It's literally killing me.

I'd go to DQ a lot more if it weren't so crowded, we probably have the only one in the city and it's about 1km from my house. It's too bad because it's the local hangout for a nearby high school. So it's crowded chumps and chumpettes..

Also, thirded for Ice Cream in the winter, hard popsicles not so much.

This is for TheOnly only:
We ALL going to die of something one day.

I meant... *sigh*

Yes people die. No kidding. If we discussed it you'd probably be all aloof and apathetic about it. [/assumption]
But it doesn't matter because I only broached the subject in a light-hearted manner. I wasn't whining about it.

I think it should've been obvious. I simply meant that my allergy to it makes me not like the taste. It has a very potent taste and whenever I get a mouthful of something with peanuts by accident my face contorts into a bitter grimace and I move to spit it out. I don't get a panic attack, I just don't LIKE it and it's probably because my brain is wired to not like things that can kill me.

I'm up to my eyeballs in H lately.  And work.  And you can only talk about how great MM2 is for so long before there's really nothing left to say.  And that's about where Mega Man is at the moment.

Maybe we should change this to "Phoenix Wright Matrix" or "Dr. Who Matrix"?  Then we'd have PLEANTY to talk about! :D

But seriously, I'm really just not getting to a lot of forums as much as I used to.  I have a LOT less free time than I did 6 years ago (hell I barely keep up with MY forums).  But I do try to pop in and keep up.  YOU'RE ALL LUCKY I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH.

Yeah, I reread one of your old posts about you witnessing a huge car wreck with a girl standing on her cell phone or something.

Your avatar matched the voice perfectly.

Used to love going through Launch Octupus' stage when I was younger.
