I have had lots of science classes, and I love them. I feel really devoted to what I'm learning because I love learning it, and I'm going to be a teacher, and if I'm a teacher and don't know my stuff, that's embarrassing.

That article is a joke. It's an amazing advancement that he has created Mycoplasma laboratorium, the article calls him an antichrist when he's really a superior geneticist.
It's silly that people are afraid of this, a single bacterium can't do crap, and it way less complex than a eukaryote. Variations of this could be made though, that synthesize synthetic fuels, which is amazing.
This semester I took and introduced a DNA plasmid to a strain of E. coli and successfully made it completely resistant to the antibiotic ampicillin. He has just done this on a greater scale.
Did you know that we make the insulin used for diabetics by transforming E. coli? We introduce a simple strand of genetic code that makes the E. coli produce insulin, then filter out the nutrient media and the E. coli and boom, insulin. Then dump the E. coli into another vat and get MORE insulin.
It's been a long process coming that an entire DNA strain has been put together to create an entire creature, even though it was really like taking the parts of a few different cars, sticking them together, and putting them together in an assembly line used to make similar cars. It's a 'new' car, but it's nothing truely shocking. When we can take and create all the pieces from scratch, THAT'S an achievement.

The dude is alright save for his wrinkly pants. Those look dumb.
The chick's hair is coming out of her hat, and her pockets are the stupidest things I've ever seen.
Besides that they are decent.
