That's not why.
It's because giving Knuckles his abilities in Sonic 1 had some sort of glitch or something, like gliding into or onto a conveyor belt froze the game or something...
Besides, people have "made" Sonic 1 have the spindash ability, I don't see why SEGA wouldn't have been able to back in 1994. Although now it's impossible to do I think.

Oh wait...
NT Warrior as in the ANIME. That wasn't too bad, but I wish it were translated by a better dubber, like Viz Media or Funimation.
But anyway, I was talking about Network Transmission.
*Braces for impact*
I didn't completely hate it... but everyone has to admit the game was incredibly hard/cheap. It's Battle Network's X6, and BN4 is its X7. :/

Soon enough all the MegaMan games are going to Pokemon-y RPG games. And I will stop playing MegaMan when that happens. Why does MegaMan keep deviating from the original design? That's really my only complaint (Aside from not actually playing as MegaMan anymore) that they're focusing on making Megs more and more human with each game. I HATE that.
Agreed...

Is there even going to be an X4?
Let's see, we have MegaMan X8, So I wonder.
That's like saying there's a MegaMan 4 because there's a MegaMan 8. Geez. Think it through please. lolz

Classic = Metool X, Z, ZX = Metall BN, SF = Mettaur
It's the same word spelled wrong. Metall, Mettaur, even Metool. It's all supposed to kind of be the word Metal.
But Japanese doesn't have the right syllables for it exactly so they write it "Metaru" and the english translators get the game and aren't exactly sure what the word is supposed to be because it's not a Japanese word but a foreign (non-Japanese) word written in Katakana. So they figure how it sounds verbally in Japanese (may-ta-ru) and try to figure it out from there. Sometimes they fail (ex: Dr. Right).
That sounds about right. I LIKE TEH METALS.
