1  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians, What Have You Become? on: 2 April 2024, 13:40:57
Don't know if anyone remembers me at all in any positive light, but it's wild to me how much of this place sticks in my brain despite only really being active here for about a year. I joined here around 2008 when I finally had internet in my area off of some fun memories of MChat when I lived at my uncle's house around 2001 or 2002-ish? Everything I posted here was awful and was basically an attempt to be accepted, liked, and "cool" or whatever despite how lame I was, and I was often appropriately called out for how stupid I was acting much to my own embarrassment at the time (which in the long run was probably good for me).

It's now 16 years later, but I feel a lot more comfortable in my lameness (in a good way). Somehow managed to graduate from a decent university in my area, making a lot of good friends there, and spent a while of my life after graduation jobless or as a janitor before finally landing a job as a sysadmin, which is where I've been at for the last seven years or so.

Personally, struggled with a lot of mental health ##### most of my life along with major weight issues which, after a serious, serious health scare a couple years back, I'm now finally somewhat getting on track with, being about 60lbs lighter than I was last year with a lot more to go, but the important thing is that I seem to be keeping what I lose off.

I definitely relate to a lot of the stuff in here about being a work in progress. Feels like everyone I knew from high school or college has some extremely successful career or marriages, but I'm just now working through ##### everyone else did when they were 18 or 19. There's a lot of times where I don't really feel like an adult until I do something where it's like, "Oh, yeah, I guess I am a semi-competent individual."

Ultimately, I don't really think you ever stop being "a work in progress". There's always something to do or improve on, and in many ways, I think a large part of my own progress was learning to be comfortable with myself in the right ways, which in turn kicked off me trying to improve myself in others. Hopefully I can keep the weight going down and keep progressing in my career.

Otherwise, I'm still just a turbonerd who likes video games and other #####.
2  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Dragonball FighterZ on: 7 August 2018, 19:54:21
i actually prefer the duke over the 360 and xbone normal controllers

Price-wise, they're selling them for $70 USD a pop. When they first came out (and sold out at the same time), the prices sky-rocketed to $100+ for a while because of collector mentality.
3  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Dragonball FighterZ on: 7 August 2018, 14:44:44
I think it's just a regular third party controller.

Should have gone all out and got the duke re-release.

4  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 & 2 on: 2 August 2018, 21:07:39
Are y'all experiencing input lag like others are reporting?
I was actually coming here to see if anyone else was noticing it since I just got my JP X carts in the mail, but it's happening across the board for me in LC1 and XLC1 for X1-3. I thought I had just gotten #####tier at these games over time, but there is definitely some noticeable input lag for the NES and SNES games on the Switch versions compared to original hardware, and inputs are eaten on occasion, as well. PS1 and beyond games don't seem to have this issue (or at least not as badly).
5  MegaMan Series / Classic Series / Re: Mega Man 11 on: 4 December 2017, 20:17:59
Pretty excited about the news myself. Gameplay looks slick so far, here's hoping everything else is.

the devs have good pedigree
Who's doing it? Is it an external team that Capcom contracted out to?

I can be available or not.
Well, which is it?

Yourself.
Unfortunately, I can't even lie to myself anymore.
8  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: MegaMan in Smash Bros.! on: 10 November 2014, 23:26:11
Not a huge fan of the Airman and Shadowman mixes. I feel like they're almost too far out there. Sparkman's is pretty great, though, and the MM2 Intro one is pretty alright, as well.
9  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Speculation: How Will Capcom animate and ruin the corpse of Mega Man? on: 10 November 2014, 23:23:05
It really wouldn't surprise me if Capcom tried to bring it back in cartoon form ala Sonic Boom or some other CG #####.

Given their penchant for mobile ports and #####, a micro-transaction filled tie-in would be sure to follow.

I'd like to be hopeful and say they'd give it an honest chance with new games that are actually good and in the spirit of the older series, but who am I kidding?
10  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 21 February 2014, 02:02:53
I was just about to post about that since I forgot to post about the Deep Silver bundle.
Despite being an EA funded bundle, none of the money goes to them.
All of their shares are going to charity.

Plus, a lot of the games have Steam keys instead if you don't want to use Origin(although, IIRC, some of them do that double DRM ##### that Ubisoft loves to do where you log into Steam and then Origin/Uplay when you start the game).

Either way, a really good deal.

Already have Dead Space 1, but I got it for Dead Space 3, Crysis 2, and Mirror's Edge.
I'm hoping that the first Crysis will be added in at some point later on in the bundle.

New Humble Bundle.
Humble Bundle 9.
https://www.humblebundle.com

Includes:
 - Trine 2
 - Mark Of The Ninja
 - Eets Munchies Beta (and presumably the full game when done?)
 - Brutal Legend

More than the average bonuses:
 - FEZ
 - Faster Than Light

DRM free, all platforms, pay more than $1 to get Steam keys, get FEZ without giving Fish any money (actual slider choice).

Also:
Retro shooter bundle on the Humble Weekly sale.
https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly

Includes:
 - Serious Sam HD First Encounter
 - Serious Sam HD Second Encounter
 - Shadow Warrior Classic Redux
 - Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition

Beat the average:
 - Hard Reset
 - System Shock 2

Windows/Steam exclusive, but a good deal on games.
You need to pay at least $1 since Steam, but good regardless.

Posted on: 14 September 2013, 10:41:31

You guys probably already know about it, but new humble bundle at humblebundle.com

it's got games
they might be fun
11  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 30 May 2013, 22:04:49
On top of the new bundle, there's also another weekly sale.

https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly

It's a Telltale sale.
Games include:
  • Back To The Future: The Game (not too bad if you're a fan of the movies)
  • Sam And Max: Devil's Playhouse (easily the best game in the series next to Hit The Road)
  • Poker Night At The Inventory (apparently pretty funny?)
  • Hector: Badge Of Carnage (port of iOS adventure game; they're okay)
  • Puzzle Agent 1 & 2 (I heard these were pretty fun)
  • Wallace And Gromit's Grand Adventure
  • BEAT THE AVERAGE: The Walking Dead (I own it, but have yet to play it)

All of these are for Steam on Windows and Mac only.
I'm probably not going to buy this because I already have all the games I'd want from it, but, still, not a bad deal if you like PnC adventure games at all.

EDIT: Apparently everything BUT The Walking Dead is available as a DRM-Free download on the Humble Page when you buy the games. Only The Walking Dead actually requires Steam at all.
12  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 29 May 2013, 01:51:23
And now, following up that fantastic Alan Wake deal is Humble Bundle 8.

Includes:
  • Little Inferno (never heard of it; looks okay)
  • Awesomenauts (apparently good?)
  • Capsized (A platformer game I've had my eyes on for a while now)
  • Thomas Was Alone (never heard of it)
  • Dear Esther (Looks pretty)

Pay more than the average and you get:
  • Hotline Miami (Easily the best game in the bundle and more than worth getting)
  • Proteus

mac, windows, linux, charity, ##### it

I got it for Capsized, Dear Esther, and Proteus.
13  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 28 May 2013, 11:46:20
Finally played through Batman: Arkham City after owning it for the better part of a year. I liked it well enough, but I think I preferred the more tight-nit layout of the first game over the sprawling city of this one. My favorite part was the Museum mostly because it reminded me of AA. I wouldn't necessarily get rid of the larger city idea, but I'd like larger "levels", so to speak, where the action takes place, as opposed to having the major areas of progression being small buildings with only three or four rooms before having to go to the next. All in all, though, I thought it was a really good game.

Now I just have to collect all the Riddler's ##### and finish up the two or three sidequests I have left.

After this, I think I'm going to be going through Lunar - Silver Star Story; either the PS1 or PSP version. I've had copies of both since high school, but I usually stop sometime after making little progress because I end up getting unexpectedly busy.
14  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 23 May 2013, 00:41:25
Alan Wake and Alan Wake American Nightmare in a Humble Weekly Sale.

This deal is Windows only.

16  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 8 May 2013, 06:40:21
Humble Double Fine Bundle.

Includes:

  • Costume Quest
  • Psychonauts
  • Stacking
  • Brutal Legends (pay more than the average)
  • Broken Age (pay $35 or more; new adventure game that they're making from their Kickstarter)
  • T-Shirt (pay $70 or more)

I already own Costume Quest and Psychonauts, and I have no interest in the other games aside from Broken Age, which I'll get eventually anyway, so...

But, yeah, Psychonauts is a good reason to get this bundle if you don't own it.
17  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: It just keeps getting worse... on: 20 April 2013, 05:41:54

18  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricans; what are you drinking? on: 19 March 2013, 14:52:35
I try a lot of things, but ultimately I just keep coming back to whiskey. I'm not a fan of beer because it tastes like piss water to me (I have tried multiple brands), and while I'm okay with other drinks, whiskey is ultimately my preference. Usually something Canadian. Crown Royal is excellent but, #####, that price. Canadian Hunter is pretty decent, as well. I don't mind tequila or vodka, although I don't drink either enough to know brands or preference. Beyond that, wine is okay, I guess. Not my forte, but I'll drink it and (usually) like it well enough. Much like the previous two, though, I really don't know any good brands to buy and I feel my money would be better spent elsewhere.
19  MegaMan Series / Legends Series / Re: How do you honestly feel about the Mega Man Legends series? on: 19 March 2013, 14:31:41
I've only played the first Legends a long time ago.
I remember thinking it was a fun enough game, even though the controls felt clunky.

I'm pretty indifferent to the series as a whole.
20  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Path of Exile on: 2 February 2013, 22:33:24
This game seems cool and all, but I'm almost wondering what it would give me over games like Torchlight 2 or Titan Quest, both games I already own. Path of Exile seems like a neat enough game, but beyond free, can it compete gameplay-wise and fun-wise with games that are considered, arguably, the best of the Diablo-esque action-RPGs?

There's a new humble bundle up.
Humble Indie Bundle 7.
Includes:
  • Snapshot (Pretty decent puzzle platformer)
  • The Binding Of Isaac + DLC (Already have this from another bundle, but it's good to have the DLC. Not a bad game. Pretty fun)
  • Closure (Another puzzle platformer. Never played it. Apparently pretty good.)
  • Shank 2 (The first one was pretty decent)
  • Indie Game: The Movie (Could be an alright concept if they actually picked less pretentious game creators to center the movie on)

Pay more than the average and you get:
  • Dungeon Defenders + DLC (Apparently a pretty good RPG/Tower Defence hybrid)
  • Legend Of Grimrock (A really good, old-school first-person RPG. I really like it at least)

Anyway, DRM free, charity, all major OS's, pay what you want, blahblahblahbuyit.
23  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 10 October 2012, 10:12:09
Humble eBook Bundle.
Pay money for books, support charity, blahblahblah.

I got it because, apparently, Signal To Noise is really good and some of the other stories interested me.
Formats are PDFs, MOBI, and EPUB.
Now I just have to actually get the time to read.
24  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 20 September 2012, 18:41:27
I've heard a lot of good things about Dustforce. I haven't played it yet since I can't get the Linux version to work right. I'll probably give it a week and try again when the bugs are ironed out as I can't be arsed to install the Windows version in Wine. It looks like easily the best platformer of the the games presented, though.
25  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 18 September 2012, 19:53:00
You know what time it is, mother#####ers!
It's Humble Indie Bundle time!

Humble Bundle 6

Contains:

  • Rochard (A puzzle action-platformer)
  • Shatter (Some brick breaking game that could be decent)
  • S.P.A.Z. (Don't know what this is like. Full title is Space Pirates And Zombies. I thought it looked kind of RTS like, but some people are equating it to a top-down shooter. Looks alright.)
  • Torchlight (Action RPG in the same vein as Diablo)
  • Vessel (A neat looking puzzle platformer about liquids)

And, if you manage to pay more than the average, you also get:

  • Dustforce (A 2D action platformer about...Uh...Janitors? Janitorial staff? Saving the world? I don't know.)

This bundle seemed a bit underwhelming to me when I first looked at the selection of games, especially considering I already own Torchlight. Although, after seeing a few videos of some of the games, reading reviews, getting opinions, etc., I was sold. Vessel, Rochard, and S.P.A.Z. alone got me to get this. Plus, a DRM free copy of Torchlight for Linux is always nice.

Anyway, same stuff as before.
No DRM, on all major computer OS's, Steam keys if you pay more than a dollar, supporting charity, etc.
This bundle is definitely worth getting if you don't already have Torchlight in some form.
26  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Borderlands 2 on: 5 September 2012, 00:37:51
The first one was fun playing in co-op with a friend of mine, but I got bored going on my own.
If I can find a few people to play with, I'll probably nab it.
Otherwise, I'll pass.
27  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 7 June 2012, 22:26:57
The Bundle now has new games for those who've paid above the average:
  • Lone Survivor - Some retro-esque adventure game about surviving zombies or something.
  • Braid - Puzzle platformer that has been in prior bundles.
  • Super Meat Boy - Another game from prior bundles.
28  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 31 May 2012, 21:57:27
HUMBLE INDIE BUNDLE 5 IS OUT, BITCHES.

Four games, DRM-free, for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

The main bundle includes:

  • Amnesia: The Dark Decent
  • LIMBO
  • Pyschonauts
  • Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP

And, if you pay more than the average, you get Bastion, as well.

I've already purchased.
The bundle is worth it for Psychonauts and LIMBO alone.
Bastion and Amnesia are pretty good, too, from what I've heard.

Thought the song was pretty good.
Andre #####ing killed it.

Beyond that, I've been listening to the tracks from She's next album "Journeys."
"Journey 9" is probably my favorite track released thus far.
"Journey 7" is second best.

I remember that one time I joined that one Megaman website after getting the internet and posting about how the Super Famicon was a different system than the SNES. But then everyone was all, "oh no it isn't," but I was all, "oh yeah it is." And then somebody told me it was called a Super Famicom, but I was all like, "no it's not because I said so, A-Ass-R." Sure told that guy, whoever he was. Doubt he was somebody important. Just couldn't stand up to my mad flexing. No doubt.

Good times.

Another new bundle is out.

This time it comes with:
  • Jamestown
  • Bit.Trip Runner
  • Super Meat Boy
  • Shank
  • NightSky HD

And, if you pay more than the average price you get:
  • Gratuitous Space Battles
  • Cave Story+

I threw down $10 for Cave Story+ and Super Meat Boy alone.
Haven't really heard of the other games, but they all seem pretty decent.

38  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 28 September 2011, 19:31:19
Revival for another Humble...er...Game.

The Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle.
Which, really, isn't a bundle at all.
No.

Essentially, Frozen Synapse is a turn-based strategy game and...That's really all I know about it. I've heard good things. Most reviews of it tend to be in the 8-10/10 range, so it seems to be well liked. The "Bundle" comes with the game and its soundtrack, together normally running ~$31 or so. This "Bundle" is also the only way to get the game natively for Linux.

Same rules as before apply:
  • DRM-Free
  • Cross Platform
  • Name your price
  • etc

On top of that, if you happen to pay more than the average, you get the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle (first bundle advertised in this thread) as a bonus, which is worth getting for Trine alone (provided you don't, y'know, own it already).

This deal is going to last for about two more weeks.

New game has been added.
Trauma - A neat little adventure game.
Played it for a while and died.
Could be alright.

Oh, and the bundle actually comes with three albums all made by the co-founder of Mode 7 (the guys who made Frozen Synapse).

One of them is the soundtrack itself.
Another is an album he did.
And the last is a chiptune album he made under a different name.

Pretty neat little bonus.
I actually like his chiptune and other album better than the soundtrack.

New game.
SpaceChem.
No clue what it's about.

For those of you who bought the bundle prior to today, you now have the second Humble Indie Bundle added on to the third as a bonus. For those of you who haven't bought the bundle yet, you have to donate at least more than the average to get the second Humble Bundle added on.

Neat stuff, although, I already own the second bundle.
43  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 1 August 2011, 23:34:34
Just a little update: The game Steel Storm has been added to the pack.
Looks like a pretty fun top-down shooter.
44  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 1 August 2011, 08:58:42
Well, I nabbed the bundle. Pretty neat games overall.

Crayon Physics Deluxe is a fairly fun puzzle game with some really nice music. The game's soundtrack is one of its high-points. It seems like the game wants you to just have fun with it, as well, as opposed to being the best. Unfortunately, the Linux version of the game requires so much effort on the user's end to get it working that I'd almost say it's completely unacceptable for a commercial product to be released in this state. Not that, I assume, most of you here will have to worry about that.

Cogs is an alright puzzle game. Nothing too great. Seems like it could be fun to mess around with, but I don't see myself playing it that much.

VVVVVV is still great and every one of you should play it.

Hammerfight seems like some pretty decent fun. I'll have to get use to the controls, though. I found myself being hit by my own hammer more than the enemy's.

And Yet It Moves is pretty much exactly like John said. It's alright, but I don't see myself playing it again after I complete it.

Also, all my Steam games still work seamlessly without internet access, I just launch them in offline mode.
Steam does "phone home," so to speak, every month or so you don't sign in, though, forcing you to do so at that time. So, really, offline-mode should be more accurately described as "temporary offline-mode."

Or, at least, that's how it use to be.
From my understanding, though, it hasn't changed anytime recently.
45  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 29 July 2011, 23:21:32
And Yet It Moves is a neat puzzle game. ultra indie.
I'll beat it and never go back to it.
That's what a lot of games in the bundle look like.
That said, I'll still probably end up nabbing this bundle once my bank issues are taken care of.

Oh, and if you buy now, you get to play Minecraft for free until August 14th.
Neat if you don't already own the game or were on the fence about buying it, I suppose.

And I love the sales.
Pretty much the main and only reason I buy from Steam beyond Valve and (some) indie games.
46  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 28 July 2011, 22:54:41
I prefer not having DRM in my games either.
Not to say that I hate Steam, I think the service is fine enough, but provided there's an alternative, especially one that is DRM-Free, I'll typically not buy from/use Steam.

Anyway, what's somebody's opinion of And Yet It Moves?
I've been looking around and it seems pretty good.
Enough so that I may revise my previous stance on purchasing this bundle.
47  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: New Humble Bundle on: 26 July 2011, 22:37:39
Bumping this because a new Humble Bundle is out.
Humble Bundle #3.
As usual, you can name your price, DRM free, can be found here, etc.

The games this time are:
  • Crayon Physics Deluxe
  • Cogs
  • VVVVVV
  • Hammerfight
  • And Yet It Moves

Yeah, of the above, I've honestly only heard of VVVVVV, which, in itself, is a great game worth nabbing the bundle for. The rest are a complete mystery to me, though, and, considering I already own VVVVVV, I may just skip this one.
48  MegaMan Series / Legends Series / Re: Legends 3 = Dead. on: 21 July 2011, 08:55:58
I'm not disagreeing with you. As a fan, I don't think the numbers were there (for Capcom, at least), nor do I think any petition will work. The thing that miffed me was the tone that the fans weren't doing enough to warrant giving the game attention. I'm not saying that they're necessarily wrong with their assessment, but it felt like a big "##### you" to the people who did participate. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be interpreted as such, but that was my reaction towards it.
