I think a general large head-tiny body 16-bit "chibi" style would work, so long as they were the same general height. Several games use that style, including the Pokemon ones that are being used for the MMM game. So plenty of potential variety while keeping with the basic proportions.
Mind you, if we're doing a comic, I'm making a whole new sheet cause that one I posted is too simple. Need... detail... and five hundred colours...

I remember that FF6 thing. I spent a whole... half hour... on my sheet.
What were the problems with that, by the way? Were you just trying to replace the sprites, or was it dialogue as well?

Oh, normally, it's great. Gives you a reason to actually stay on the server after the hack-slash-hack-slash of levelling gets old, and there's a lot of genuine hilarity and creativity. But it also attracts a stunning amount of dumb and drama.

I've read roleplay sessions where the grand demon gets attacked simultaneously by about five people, the magician sets off spells that totals the city square, someone shoves a fist right through the demon's chest, etc, etc, and the demon still owns every single one of them.
And it was somehow legit every time.
Sigh.

I never understood much why people wanted winged characters in RO. Especially when the wings they use normally look like crap.
Those aren't bad for some reason, but maybe it's because they look like the right style.
Not my choice. Server I'm working with wants Avians for roleplaying, so I has to be making with the feathers. At least we quashed any stupid angel-demon character crap. Talk about a recipe for godmoding and disaster. Also, thanks. :>

Thats why there should be strict rules, set in place by Abe.
Still. Seems like a lot of work and extra rules to enforce and approvals just so MadReploidDude can have a pink zero helmet with a broadsword and trapeze pants or something, that he'll parade in MChat for maybe two days before he gets bored. Which seems pretty likely to me. If custom avatars happen, I think it would really only work on a case-by-case basis, and no fuss about post count.

The most spriting I've done these days is for RO. (Right now I SHOULD be doing dwarf beards. I'll just keep procrastinating on that one.) There's this: ...Which was just grabbing part of a wing from an existing RO monster, shrinking it, and fitting it to a human sprite. So. Not really spriting, just shifting.

meh I'll do it when there's more than one page of thread. Too lazy. Here's the next comic, introducing two characters plus one more. Zed is Urban Dead slang for a zombie, by the by. Also, goggles are awesome.

I don't know. Post limit to do X always irks me. At higher numbers it encourages more spam, not less. There should be a better way of handling custom avatars, if they happen.
Can't think of one for the life of me, though.
There's also the "quality control, dammit" part in me that doesn't want to see stupid edits clogging up the chat. Oh, user-created content, you bane and boon.

I could just link to each new comic page in a list on the top post.
Although that won't work if people attach the pages instead of host them themselves. Hmm. Maybe I'd just link the post itself in that case.

If MChat does come back, there really (really) needs to be more female avatars. Ones that aren't Roll and Kalinka. Alia and Iris, for instance. I'd be more than happy to sprite them myself.
(Of course, I'd still be using Elec Man all the time, but y'know.)

So a fedora isn't a type of hat? The Northern Bog Fedora have cylindrical bodies covered with long grey or brown fur with pale grey underparts, and sport grooved upper incisors. Found in wet northern forests, bogs, tundra and meadows, they feed on grasses, sedges, snails, and slugs. ...what?

I ain't saying NO COMEDY NEVER EVER GRRRRR DIE. I'm saying the "pikachu beartrap cowbell laser hippo" kind of random is retarded and is only funny for the first five seconds. Funny can be coherent.

Here we go again. Let's lay down some ground rules:1: You contribute 1-2 pages at a go, then pass it on to the next person. 2: You keep things coherent. Random plotlines get old extremely fast. 3: Do not say you'll post the next page unless you are certain you are going to get one up, or you'll make people wait unnecessarily. 4: This one will be unique to this Jam, but I'm putting it in to as an experiment. Only original characters. You cannot put in your pre-made characters. You cannot put in your pre-made characters with transparent re-tools to pretend they are original. In every single Jam in the past, even when they were good, everyone made their personal character into a Mary-Sue and tried to pull the plot their way. I did it, you did it, everyone did it. Let's try and make this a story. 5: Try not to create too many characters at once. Introduce one or two at a time. A glut of new characters makes things hard to follow, especially when keeping up with people's different art styles. 6: MSPaint, Photoshop, sprites, pencils, pen, the medium you do a page doesn't matter. At the very least -- very least -- make the text readable. Roger? Roger. Okay, on with the show. You read right -- ZOMBIE PLAGUE SLASHER COMIC. Whether you want to make this a bloodfest, a conspiracy, a satire, it's up to you. Who's next? ( 2 ) ( 3 ) ( 4 )

I found the site, and eh, the rates are too high for the gameplay I'm used to (the roleplay server I'm semi-helping with is planned to be 20x, and that's already pushing it for me), but they do look like they have a really neat setup. On the fence on this one.

Oh, Sims games. I spend whole days creating a skin and outfit and house and arrangement, then actually play the game for maybe three hours. In the end I have the entire neighborhood fall madly in love with everyone in the household, and then I'm thoroughly bored and uninstall.
Kind of miss Sim Towers, though. That was fun. If repetitive.

Comic Jams should have had original characters. Letting people put their self-characters in = MORE MARY SUES THAN IN THE BACKALLEYS OF FANFICTIONDOTNET.
Yes I was guilty of it BUT SO WAS EVERYONE ELSE.
In fact, I'll go start one right now.

Discovered Tilly and the Wall. They involve tap-dancing in their music. It is a delight.
Listened to lots of Stars, Decemberists (Mariner's Revenge Song is ffuuunnn), Sufjan Stevens, Fingathing. A buddy sent me every Johnathan Coulton song in existence, which I have yet to listen to.
Spent most of today downloading Tori Amos songs. They're kinda background music for me, I think -- they're good, but only a few really catch me and make me sing along.
