401  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Your favorite animes, and why you like them on: 8 December 2007, 23:47:40
Anime fans ruin anime for me. I know that sounds lame, but that's how it is.

It's true, for the most part.

Tell me about it. It applies to every fandom. Deviantart idiots have ruined Sonic the Hedgehog for me utterly.
402  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: That ol' Sprite Thread on: 8 December 2007, 23:44:14
A forum is not a chatroom. Or a livejournal, either.

Judas Priest.
403  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Golden Compass on: 8 December 2007, 19:56:18
Are you kidding? The kids' acting in the first two Potter movies were terrible. It only solidified in the third movie. Anyway.

The reason is that you can't possibly please everyone's mental image of a story. A minor example is fanart. Everyone but everyone drew Severus Snape with a goatee pre-movie. Post-movie, all the fanart suddenly had clean-shaven Alan Rickman in them.

Another reason is that with time constraints, you just can't put in all the details, or at least enough that the book purists won't start hopping and pointing at Their Favorite Scene That Didn't Appear, or Didn't Appear Right. I really really liked Tom Bombadil in the books, but he didn't really do enough that made him necessary in the movie.

Probably it would be easier with short books, like (as you say) the first two Potter books, but really involved ones like His Dark Materials would be harder. You'll notice the Potter books that have a billion pages translate into movies that aren't stories that stand alone, but sort of bundles of barely-connected Highlights of the Book scenes. Though they did make a good effort of that in the fifth movie.
404  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Welcome back! on: 8 December 2007, 19:41:00
I propose a motion to remove the colour, glow, and shadow tags from the forum's BBC code.
405  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: Art of M on: 8 December 2007, 19:09:14
Baaadass.

Personally, I think the Indo picture turned out excellently, the only thing is that her eyes don't quite face the same direction. One of them is looking subtly towards the left.
406  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 8 December 2007, 19:03:48
Yesterday, my computer committed harakiri.

Managed to save everything and dump it on a new hard drive, so that was good.

Then I got a horrible migraine, but warriors do not crawl and whimper when faced with stabbing headpains! Warriors reinstall every damn driver and program that needs reinstalling, even when warriors can't find where they saved the bloody activation codes! GARR!
407  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Webstats are funny! on: 8 December 2007, 18:59:38
I don't remember who yanked me here.

It was either White Shadow or Nall. Probably WS.

Where the hell is Nall, anyway?
408  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The corrupted wish game. on: 8 December 2007, 18:44:14
Granted. You are galvanized into action, cleaning and cleaning and cleaning until your hands are raw and bleeding.

I wish for an iPod Shuffle. No silly videos or more gigabytes than god, just a basic mp3 player.
409  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Golden Compass on: 8 December 2007, 18:39:29
Eh, it's usually best to go in seeing a movie as a movie, and not as a visual mirror of your experience of the book. You'll be disappointed far too much with the latter.
410  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: The waste land? on: 8 December 2007, 18:36:01
That's interesting, because while I don't particularly call you a friend, I don't actively dislike/hate you either. Thinking your storytelling skills leave something to be desired doesn't mean I can't play nice.

Then again, I'm sure if I had a reason not to like you, I'll remember it eventually.

But who's washing their dirty laundry in public, eh?
411  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: PLAGUE -- A Comic Jam on: 8 December 2007, 18:26:42
I hereby deem this to be the comic where every character must wear a hat.

412  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: The New Mushroom Order + COMIC JAM! on: 8 December 2007, 17:26:02
DrillShroom only wants a hug.

And destruction and desecration of all that is good and cherished.
413  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Webstats are funny! on: 8 December 2007, 15:51:49
This -- the internet's "who took the last bloody cookie."
414  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM? on: 8 December 2007, 15:38:26
If by culture you mean "festering wounds left by vicious cat scratch attacks" then yes, we are completely without culture.

Hey, these are festering wounds made from stoats and maggots, thank you, not cats.
415  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: MegaMan Matrix: VIRUS Attack!! (Development Topic) on: 8 December 2007, 07:05:22
That's MM7 style sprites. The game uses Pokemon Overworld sprites, like from LeafGreen. No dice.
416  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: The waste land? on: 8 December 2007, 06:57:28
Until there are wasteland-worthy threads, there's no real need for one. Yet.
417  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM? on: 8 December 2007, 05:03:58
You people have no culture.
418  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: PLAGUE -- A Comic Jam on: 8 December 2007, 04:08:39
Except that it's a yellow and blue Elec Man, and that this is entirely the wrong thread for your sprites.

Awesome page, Mox. Who's next?
419  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Bread Thread on: 8 December 2007, 04:05:28
Not bread, but CAKE. That I baked.

IT IS DELISHUZ CAEK YUO MUST EAT IT

420  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Your favorite animes, and why you like them on: 8 December 2007, 04:03:31
I have a guilty enjoyment in Magic Knight Rayearth, even though it's a magic girl anime, that ends (sort of) in a giant mecha fight, and with retarded romances all over the place.

It's probably all Mokona's fault. Bastard puffball thing. Or how Umi seems to headbutt everything in the SNES game.

Also, Revolutionary Girl Utena, despite (or because of) it being the most confusing, symbol-packed mindbugger thing ever.
421  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Golden Compass on: 8 December 2007, 03:59:02
Awesome. I'm planning on watching it next Wednesday. Weekday, fewer people, ftw.

I tried to make my mother read the book a while back, but she didn't want to -- now with the movie she's asking to borrow it. Which is harder than it sounds, since all my books are still in moving boxes I haven't unpacked yet, and most are labelled things like "V's Room: Misc Book #5", which isn't helpful.
422  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM? on: 8 December 2007, 03:56:26
When you take in mind that most of the girls who participated were actually guys 99.9% time, you can see why random cybering is a bad idea.

Also, family friendly board, etc.

I agree.

I start to take off your pants.

Your family walks in... and they start to take off theirs.

EDIT:  Family friendly.

The Aristocrats!
423  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: The Vague Burpy Hiccup of the Matrix. on: 7 December 2007, 15:35:04
Nibbles is hungry for lamers, and with none readily available (yet) I guess he snacked on the server.

I think he won't have to go hungry for long.

Just sayin'.
424  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are YOU getting for Christmas? on: 6 December 2007, 17:28:45
My yearly shipment of coal.
425  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: The actual Rise and Fall of the matrix? on: 6 December 2007, 15:36:25
More like the Vague Burpy Hiccup of the Matrix.
426  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The corrupted wish game. on: 6 December 2007, 13:13:59
Granted. You have epilepsy.

I wish I'd started listening to Johnathan Coulton earlier.
427  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM? on: 6 December 2007, 13:01:21
I don't see a point in making it an "official"-anything -- some people will make sig-badges, some people won't.
428  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The corrupted wish game. on: 6 December 2007, 12:58:36
Granted, but they leak chemicals everywhere.

I wish I had a babelfish, so I could read folklore in the original languages. Translations bite the big one.
429  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: Goodbye Pisces - Art Thread on: 6 December 2007, 11:11:28
NO MOON FOR YOU

Another of the myth waitress thing:
http://yubishines.deviantart.com/art/Nie-BW-71482266

After colouring this, probably the next will be Bai from the Madam White Snake story, then I have no idea what goddess or demoness or whatever to target next. He Xiangu is tempting -- she apparently attained enlightenment from drinking the vomit of seven immortals -- but I should branch off to other cultures. Equal opportunity butchering, y'know.

EDIT:
Coloured.

Thar. I think that works.
431  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: Let's All Be Mushrooms! on: 6 December 2007, 02:36:40
DEATH.
432  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: Let's All Be Mushrooms! on: 6 December 2007, 02:35:16
Don't kill photoshop, please. Thirteen year olds on DeviantART have been abusing it for years. It's suffered under their hands enough.

If I see another lens flare or plastic effect, I'm going to go on a rampage.
433  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Welcome back! on: 6 December 2007, 02:27:53
Facebook has a nice design, so long as you learn to collapse all of the stupid attachments people put on their profile that make it fifty times longer to load.
434  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: Let's All Be Mushrooms! on: 5 December 2007, 23:03:23
ATTACK SHROOM

GO FORTH
435  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Bread Thread on: 5 December 2007, 19:33:54
What did they sell like?

Coldcakes.

Obviously.

That...
... that sounds better than banana bread.
Yuuuuuuuuubiiiiii~

No.
436  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: Any ideas for the future of MMM? on: 5 December 2007, 19:30:47
Well, I'm another spriter volunteering services.

I rather think a few less rooms would be put in, considering people just congregate into 1-3 rooms each time. Not that there should only be three different rooms, but still.
437  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The Bread Thread on: 5 December 2007, 03:12:07
I made banana hotcakes today. That's almost banana bread.
438  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: MegaMan Matrix: VIRUS Attack!! (Development Topic) on: 5 December 2007, 03:02:54
I was wondering about that. Did a quick GIF of mine:

Does that work? I've no idea.
439  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: MegaMan Matrix: VIRUS Attack!! (Development Topic) on: 5 December 2007, 02:26:37
Looks good to me, although mind you, I'm not sure at all if my walking sprites "work" when animated, so beware.

I think the specific referenced sprites are these.
440  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: MegaMan Matrix: VIRUS Attack!! (Development Topic) on: 5 December 2007, 00:40:43
Simply put, it's the wrong style. It might be different if it were a comic, but it has to be consistent in a game.
441  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: That ol' Sprite Thread on: 4 December 2007, 22:45:22
Is that white bit the shine on the hair? If the shading is going to be as minimal as it looks, then it'd be better if it was left out. Currently it's like he's wearing a very small hat.
442  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The corrupted wish game. on: 4 December 2007, 22:43:52
Granted. You are now a robot that has no opposable thumbs. Have fun.

I wish for more tea.
443  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Death Note on: 4 December 2007, 22:40:22
The English dubbing is surprisingly good, I'll give it that.
444  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: That ol' Sprite Thread on: 4 December 2007, 22:38:04
I realize that 8-bit games tend to use bright colours, but seriously, all allergy jokes aside, don't use the neon reds and blues and so on that make up the default MSPaint pallet. It never looks good.
445  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 4 December 2007, 22:10:46
I wouldn't be as enthusiastic about suing the school, since money will get used on legal fees instead of things like lighting and upkeep on the furnace and so on.

Then again, I come from a high school that was falling apart at the seams, with vents that spat cold air in winter and brimstone smoke in the summer, and it squandered its funds on the sports teams while the computer classes were stuck with Photoshop 5 (and Limited Edition at that) and the lamps in photography were repaired with duct tape, so that's just me.
446  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: PLAGUE -- A Comic Jam on: 4 December 2007, 22:07:08
I'm allergic to neon green recolour sprites.
447  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Death Note on: 4 December 2007, 22:04:56
I watched an episode the other day, and I have to say the detail in the art is impressive, especially the work on the backgrounds. As for the story itself, I can't say since I only did see that one ep, but it's interesting.
448  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: The Rise and Fall of the Matrix on: 4 December 2007, 22:01:04
Count me out. Nothing personal, I just really don't like my character being written by someone else.
449  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: PLAGUE -- A Comic Jam on: 4 December 2007, 22:00:12
I think this is the wrong thread for that.
450  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: That ol' Sprite Thread on: 4 December 2007, 19:58:44
The Magic Knight Rayearth SNES game is a good size, but the only sprite sheets of that I can find are for the three girls. I'll play through it to see if I can't rip some townspeople.
