Watching seasons change makes me happy.

Laying on the grass and watching clouds makes me happy.

Contemplating the finer / more obscure details of life and the science that makes it possible makes me happy.

Fractals make me insanely happy.

Sitting in trees makes me happy.

Acting makes me happy.

Ribbons make me happy.

Penguins make me happy.

All cute animals make me happy.

All obscurely-kind-of-ugly-cute animals make me happy.

Lovecraft, Poe and Emily Dickenson make me happy.

Reading in general usually makes me happy.

Painting makes me happy.

Cooking makes me happy.

Puzzles make me happy.

Walking in the woods makes me happy.

Swimming in the creek makes me happy.

Beating people in obscure contests makes me happy.

The Dragon Accountant* makes me happy.

Goat-milk cheese makes me happy.

I'm pretty easy to make happy, but those are some of my special ones. :3

Happiness is forgetting it's Friday and then remembering it's Friday.

Happiness is getting noticed for your achievements.

Happiness is knowing you just thought of something really clever.

Happiness is sharing that clever thing with someone who you know will appreciate it.

Happiness is purposely being different than everyone else in an obnoxious way but not having a problem with it.

Happiness is getting chummy with people in powerful positions.

Happiness is like a warm gun.

Happiness is finding money on the ground.

Happiness is when you get that little creative spark and follow through with it.

Happiness is being the center of attention.

Happiness is watching a storm pass over you as the clouds speed by and the rain starts for about five minutes and then stops and the sky is different colors depending on which direction you're looking.

Happiness is such a broad term.

Happiness is a fresh one-liner.

Happiness is probably what follows getting a girlfriend, though I wouldn't know.

Happiness is being okay with that.

Happiness is discovering something new to obsess on.

Happiness is having your initials across the entire High Score list in a MegaMan arcade game.

Happiness is seeing a cloud that really really looks like something.

Happiness is "1 new notification" on Facebook.

Happiness is that first day of the year after winter where you don't need to wear a sweatshirt.

Happiness is better when you were sad before it comes along.

Happiness is having air conditioning after being in the heat for too long.

Happiness is having a heater in your room after being in the cold for too long.

Happiness is what you feel when everything is going right for once.

Happiness is gay.

Happiness is a puppy.

Happiness is when you practice different voices after a shower in front of the bathroom mirror for so long that you're late for school.

Happiness stimulates those muscles that make you smile.

Happiness is the perfect freestyle.

Happiness is 42.

Happiness is "Snow day? Really?"

Happiness is earning money.

Happiness is spending said money.

Happiness is saving said money.

Happiness is getting 100% on a test you didn't study for at all.

Happiness is theorizing about what the ##### is going on in Lost.

Happiness is thinking of a witty Away Message for AIM and then going away for a while just to show off.

Happiness is really hitting it off with a brand new friend.

Happniess is the result of typing too quickly.

Happiness is when you make a joke and everyone laughs.

Happiness is that moment when you really start to see someone cares.

Happiness is being okay with being such a loser.

Happiness can be described in tons of different ways, most easily in a listed format.

Happiness is all relative.

Happiness is Alec.

Happiness is...

Happiness.

"shoots off happy"

It's true! The neurotransmitters literally "fire", thats what they call it.

Anyways... you know what made me happy? STORY TIME.

Do you guys remember the old member "fefnir"? Well he's one of my best friends in real life. You probably know that he hasn't been coming here for a very very long time. Well the other day he says "So I've been coming by the matrix lately." Which was odd, because I haven't seen him around.

Well you know that guy Nautilus? You might remember him posting a picture of himself, big black cartoony guy? Whaddya know, that's fefnir. And no, he's not black  ;D.

He really did keep it a secret and totally blow my mind. Which is awesome. I would have blabbed about it in two days.

All Metroids are good.

'cept Metroid Prime 2.

*Expects someone quoting this message and editing the "2" from the message, calling it fixed*

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: ASR on 17 July 2008, 03:21:54
Prime 2 is the only Prime game I didn't play, and from what I hear I'm not missing out. 1 and 3 were enjoyable in their own right, but they weren't the Super Metroid I fell in love with as a kid.

I didn't know there was an NES Metroid 'till Prime came out, though. Or a Game Boy one, for that matter.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: Mikero on 17 July 2008, 03:22:56
It's the only Prime I did play other than the Hunters demo, and it was aaaawwwwfuuuulllll.

The bad Metroid game is Fusion.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 17 July 2008, 03:46:19
I liked Fusion.

It was pretty linear, I give it that, but I actually enjoyed the text segments, especially when Samus was putting her thoughts together.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: Chron on 17 July 2008, 03:54:53
You don't play Metroid for text.
You play it to explore and break the game out of sequence so badly the original designers don't even recognize it.

You can't do that in Fusion, so meh.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 17 July 2008, 03:58:44
I didn't like it because of the text, I liked it because it was difference.

The Metroid Prime games have plenty of exploring and sequence breaking, mind you.

Sorry for the rudeness, but COME ON.

There's ONE in Prime, and it's just an early Space Jump that's barely useful.

There's tons in Prime 1. I should know, I did them myself.

Skipping the mini boss where you get the missile for the first time is one of them. I can't exactly remember the others, but I know there are more of them.

I like it.

But it's not a METROID game.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: ASR on 17 July 2008, 04:24:15

I was gonna say that.

I'll play any 2D Metroid game. Prime blew, so I don't want any involvement with the sequels.

Metal Gear Solid has a love/hate relationship, but if you can stand it, you'll love it from my understanding. I'm trying to get my brother to love it long enough to stick with it.

FUSION WAS AWESOME BECAUSE ITS A COOL STORY AND MADE ME CRAP MY PANTS BECAUSE IT WAS SCARY

Zero Mission was God.

If Fusion made you crap your pants, THEN YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE A PREVENTER
okay maybe that one part after the spider boss BUT STILL

Zero Mission does make me happy.
Classic controller + Super Metroid Wii = happy Chron (and apparently 100% in 2:55, which ALSO makes me happy).

One thing that would REALLY make me happy is getting the damn player models to work properly in Garry's Mod. I want to be FREE
FREEMAN

Freeman makes me happy, but I'm not sure why.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: XJ on 17 July 2008, 16:13:04
Now THOSE make me happy.  That's how a game should be:
Get your
bananas/Donkey Kong/Diddy Kong
back from
King/Captain/Dr.
K. Rool.

I never played DK64 enough to judge it.  Is it a good game?

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: ASR on 17 July 2008, 16:21:00
I thought it was King/Kaptain/Kommander K. Rool?

And yeah, DK64 was a fantastic game but more in the vein of Banjo-Kazooie than Donkey Kong Country.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: XJ on 17 July 2008, 16:42:29
Apparently, it wasn't Kommander, it was Baron K. Roolenstein.  But I digress.

Dane Cook, Billy Joel, and the Pachelbel's Rant all on my iPod makes me happy.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: ASR on 17 July 2008, 16:58:24
I have Dane Cook on my iPod but only because I purchased it a while back and feel it's stupid to delete it. But my taste in comedy has evolved past him. Yours will, too. He isn't that great.

Billy Joel, though, hell yes.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: XJ on 17 July 2008, 18:42:40
I like his act, but I'm not an over-obsessed maniac like some of my friends.  I have various tastes in comedy, like Demetri Martin, Brian Regan, hearing Abe go off about haggis.

That last one makes me happy.

DK64 is the only post-DKC3 Donkey Kong game I've ever enjoyed.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: Vinchenz Rock on 17 July 2008, 20:26:27
DK64 was awesome, but I don't know if I can ever manage to get 101% (or is it 102%?) in that game ever again.

I don't know how but I managed to 100% many games like DK64 back then... Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie... Three of them made by Rare, <_<.

But knowing that I have completed these games 100% makes me happy. :D

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: Mikero on 18 July 2008, 05:45:54
To bring it back to Metroid Fusion for a sec. I didn't mind it. Although it was waaay too linear, it wasn't awful.

The SA-X or whatever was kind of creepy, in that if you ever tried to fight it you were basically completely ravaged. It was like the Predator or something. The time when you had to run through like six rooms and use the super bomb to get through a wall and then ball up and go into a little barely noticeable when in panic hole while the SA-X was chasing you was frickin' heart pounding #####.

But I never finished the game.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
Post by: preventerWIND on 18 July 2008, 05:49:08

But yeah, that was the last in the series apparently. If we get a sequel Samus'll be in that suit most likely.

Title: Re: Happy Thread
