Pretty cute but I wish it didn't have ball-fists.

I know I don't ever say this, but I really appreciate the feedback guys.

The MMM has always been a very powerful force in driving me to want more out of my art,  Always providing serious expectations from me despite never really being known for my quality.

Over the past several years I've worked really hard making and meeting higher expectations, and I'm constantly getting closer to something I can really be proud of.

So, again,  Thanks.

I don't mention it much, but ditto!

T-t-t-t-t-t-t-trigger u-NIT!

Vinch, I can empathize with how you're feeling. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk things over with.

Also if you move back there will be three Michaels from Megaman Matrix living in Ottawa.

^ditto

Went to a gay club with my girlfriend, as our friend was doing a drag show.

THAT stuff is way too fun, and I'm sad us straighties are missing out most of the time.

Busy, busy week!

Ray's family have been in town. I'm getting on with them fine, but the day after they arrived, we got a (complex-wide) notice that our landlord's bosses want to do an inspection on Thursday, and that they were doing a pre-inspection today.

So, on top of Lizzie's second birthday on Saturday, Father's Day yesterday (we were on a boat, mother#####ers!), and a constant set of visitors, my house has had to remain fairly close to pristine.

Daunting. That's the word. Still working on last-minute things for the real inspection on Thursday.

@_@

She's already 2?!

Jeeeeeeeesuuuuuuuuuuuu--

Been a month and a day since moving into this place, and I'm loving it.

When you say they burned you twice, what are you referring to? Just by how much it sucks you in?

It is an interpolation of that with the way it becomes a job. Like it's awesome for the first bit, I love it, but you get to a point rather quickly where you play it only because you have to. And when you start designing your own gear you lose any desire to get the premade stuff and half the game's drive flies out the window.

And also there's just a problem I have with most games that have an internalized clock; I don't like that the game is playing without me, and is actively #####ing me over because it's jealous of my actual career and life.

In Animal Crossing games characters will actually get pissed off at you if you don't go see them at specific times, some of which are like 7AM. This can lead your favourite characters to leaving and being replaced by some ugly chicken or something, and you have to start whole new relationships. It's a good system while you can keep up the day to day play, but if you ever take time off then you are penalized so you can never really be casual with it.

That said, I love Animal Crossing.
657  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 17 June 2013, 17:45:00
Ah OK. I've been there.

It was hard to give advice without knowing your situation, but looks like you need something to make you buckle down. Seems like you have a decent reason to BE motivated though.

But if you're feeling depressed I recommend that you do NOT let that make you sleep all day. I know that's what depression does but sleep habits like that only reinforce the apathy. Changing your diet up might help too.

I want you to move back here, so I'm here to help ya if you need me.
Really, that goes for any Matrician.
658  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: "Webcomics" on: 17 June 2013, 04:14:45
It's weird, considering my industry and also how much I like and know about comics, but I never could really get into webcomics.

I've been watching that Strip Search show a bit though, and it's good enough. I hated some of the people.

I don't know, can you guys recommend something you'd think I'd be into? I don't really like the autobiographical ones... Which is a lot of them...

Hit the gym or something?

You need to find a new hobby to get WAY into. It'll help you out of a funk.

Not drinking.

I've been living with my girlfriend for what, 3 months now?

I hope that you're moving in together - not you moving in with her or vice-versa. Trust me, it's easier if you're both unpacking.

Rely on each other, but don't take the other person for granted.

Don't go to bed angry.

Realize that things may not work out. It's okay. Sometimes people discover that they can't live under the same roof. Again, it's okay.

It's been pretty good so far. We got a new place together, yeah.
We're now finally settled it, except a couple small things and had people over last night.

I just got the internet working and now we're finally just gonna settle into life instead of having things to unpack and build on the daily.

We just should've bumped into eachother etc.

It'll happen!

Animal Crossing on 3DS looks TOO #####ing good, but they've burned me twice with that property and I shant get caught again, I say!
.. Well maybe.

Anyway yeah, Dragon Age sucked. I recently started listening to an audio version of the first Wheel of Time novel and it looks like BioWare copied some concepts from it for Dragon Age. I haven't gone back to the book in a while.

I've been playing the first InFamous because we got a second hand PS3 with it on. It's pretty #####ing bland so far and in the future I must remember what Flavor Flav told us; "Don't believe the hype."

Also playing A Link To The Past, and I expect to start Breath Of Fire and some replays of Lunar (found out the other day it works on this PS3) and San Andreas soon.

I have a couple 3DS games on the go too, but it's my girlfriends 3DS so I haven't been playing much.

I've not been excited about new games lately.
663  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: MegaMan in Smash Bros.! on: 17 June 2013, 03:57:38
I expect Yellow Devil is just part of his little story mode rather than his final Smash, since most final smashes have you in control and/or the character is suped up somehow instead of idling.

I really never liked the Final Smash system anyway.

I wish Rush looked happier. Actually on the subject of Rush, while it looks like MM's ^B move is Rush Coil, it would have been fun if his saving move had Beat come grab him. But I realize Rush Coil is just more iconic.

I'd be surprised if they got rid of Wolf.

666  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 30 May 2013, 21:28:47
They just kind of... They just weakly cobbled together bits from past Star Treks and after the first bit I never felt compelled again. A friend and I talked about it later, but it was like you could call every plot point 5-10 minutes early, so that makes it lose a lot of points.

I also thought they would have left most of the little jokes/sly references to the old series with the first movie though, and be doing their own thing finally. I get WHY they do it but it seems more like something you would do in the first installment; Like in X-Men when Wolverine was asked if he'd prefer "yellow spandex". The term "red shirt" shouldn't ever leave the lips of someone in Star Trek... The characters shouldn't even be allowed to think it. It's a uniform to them, and they're not in on it, nor would they be that disrespectful of it.

I'm not saying there's no room for jokes (this film had plenty that actually fit in place) but that particular brand of silly stuff always reminds me of hackneyed lines from like the Star Wars movies and stuff.

"Anakin, you'll be the death of me!"
OHhOhohohoohhohHOh. dear viewer! Even if you find that funny in the theatre it becomes a blemish during a rewatch.
667  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 30 May 2013, 06:18:22
The new Star Trek was only OK.

Seems like people that don't really know Stark Trek liked it more, I just found it was nearly 100% predictable.
668  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 30 May 2013, 06:15:37
I like the open concept but the game mechanics didn't adapt. Batman lumbers around like a Mary Shelly character so much in those games that the second you land anywhere in Arkham City you feel nearly as claustrophobic as in Arkham Asylum except you usually have an easy way to run off.

It was really odd in that regard. I liked the free roam a lot, but it pointed out the flaws in the series' motion that I was able to ignore in the first game. Admittedly the first game IS clunkier, but it didn't seem to matter as much.

It's possible that if the actual levels where you ACCOMPLISH stuff were larger it would fix it.

But the scope that Arkham City brought kinda made up for it for me. They could have gone farther with it but it was great that you could stumble upon things, especially villains that were just doing their own thing, unrelated to the main plot line.

Catwoman looked good.

After this, I think I'm going to be going through Lunar - Silver Star Story; either the PS1 or PSP version. I've had copies of both since high school, but I usually stop sometime after making little progress because I end up getting unexpectedly busy.

All-time great.

I dot know much about the PSP version but PS version is fly as hell.

Congrats on the new Jone, Hohm Carll! I'm gonna finally be feeling that one in a week.

I got an MMX cart at Ottawa ComicCon yesterday, so I'm in a good mood.

What? Aww man! I was there that day too!

They had two!
The one I didn't get had the sticker ripped, right at the "MEGAMAN X" part, too. The plastic was less yellowed though.

674  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: Chaos Creations on: 25 May 2013, 03:52:52
Alright dude.

I know it was 3 years ago since the last post in here, but I just looked through the project again (via your sig) and I've decided to have GOT to get this going once more.

For a self-centered example: Look at the amazing work you did making a stage for me, it holds up really well! In fact, I know a bit more about level design now than I did when you first posted it, and I love it even more.

You really hit exactly what the classic series' gameplay was ABOUT. You're introducing the gimmick early and letting the player figure the ##### out (RE: Sequelitis, y'all know), but double-##### that 'cause the even cooler part is you took special care for theming. The ninja Robot Master has a nice flowey jumpy level with traps and climbs and to top it off--my new favourite part--A boss fight on the top of a building making me col liek Strom Eggol!!!!11

Plus you took special care to learn everyone's character and appropriate their moves to go with it.

Really we all kind of threw these characters together half-hazardly and they don't all work but you made it work.

I don't know man, I don't know what you lost, or you're just not into the idea anymore (and that's fine) but I think it's totally still worth doing and if MMM had it's own little game on the front page or something?
SHOOOOOM.
#####ing shoom, dude.
That's what this place needs, and I think most people would agree and/or still want to be involved. I'm obviously still in love wit-it.

And Sano should be a recurring mini-boss/hard enemy.

I enjoy it less when they take it seriously, but I do see why others get frustrated when they blame a game for their confusion when it was explained and they just skipped over it.

But when they get super into it they either stop talking completely or stop joking around. No point when that happens.

I don't really care about achievements in the first place either, but I mentioned them just as an example of ambient stuff you might want to keep some outposts active for. Especially if you manage to finish the story before maxing out, but that seems pretty difficult.

682  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 2 May 2013, 03:39:29
Well you really don't need to do the outposts. I did so many undetected that I maxed out the tau tau pretty quickly. Kind of a game breaker, in a sense, because the only progression left was the actual story and by that point you're kind of in "I don't care" territory.

I have like 5 outposts left, all on the southern island. I intend to finish them off, as well as getting collectibles, but I left them active so I could farm the enemies for different challenges (such as "kill 50 enemies with the flamethrower") and so that it wasn't just animals and I left.

The Handbook in the start menu should tell you how much of ANYTHING is left.
683  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: The Game Grumps are playing X7 on: 2 May 2013, 03:35:41

687  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 1 May 2013, 05:40:36
I finished it. It was fine. A hard fine. A solid B.

I actually liked the sandbox stuff. Hunting animals and stuff. At least when there was a reason to do it, and when you're weak enough that getting seen at all is big trouble, it was some nerve-racking fun. Especially when an animal you had no idea was even in the game just bites you out of nowhere while you're trying to sneak up on a radio tower.

But as Edge (or Delta) once said "I could spend all day going around looking at rocks".

That was more the meat of it to me, as Jason Brody and all his friends are rich little pukes that give me douche-chills. I still liked over half the missions though, just for exciting gameplay alone.
688  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: A detailed article on the Megaman X FPS that could have been (with videos) on: 1 May 2013, 05:35:31
They definitely did and are doing that.

A HUGE part of the "atmosphere" of Metroid for me is the open world sort of feel, though, and I felt Prime was a bit closed in that way.

Well. Really, now. Let's be honest, it was mostly TLO that championed Metroid Prime back then anyway, and I think he was but a fresh-faced 12 years of age at the time (or some such #####).

But this whole MMX in first-person argument parallels the Prime debate to me, and I've got the same exact stance Rez just laid out for that one.

I went to schools.

Really though I'll let y'all know of some dope books for drawing and animation when I get the chance, I want to get it just right, and maybe pictures.

For charaters you basically can't lose on anatomy books though, and y'know just going to life drawing sessions in your town. Whether you want to draw realism or not, this will significantly improve your understanding of space, weight, proportion and everything else. You can put a style on it after.

Can we talk about how #####ing great Shovel Knight looks for a second?

I've been fairly bored by what's new right now, safe a few games. So I've been on an old school kick, 'cause I'm just really about fundamentals right now over all this so-called storytelling. This game looks like it'll hit that spot and still be compeltely fresh.

I might hold off and get the 3DS version (and a 3DS), just 'cause I want that real-feel.

Honestly I'm not even sure if it still counts as upcoming, since the Kickstarter is finished, but I watched a Game Grumps of it (they got an early edition) and it's just goddamn sweet.
695  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: A detailed article on the Megaman X FPS that could have been (with videos) on: 26 April 2013, 02:34:41
What's funny to me about this argument is that a lot of people here are saying it would be hard to really capture that feel in 3D, but some of the same people took the stance that Metroid Prime still feels like Metroid years ago.

From my perspective the debate is the same, and I don't think Prime feels like old school Metroid much at all.
696  MegaMan Matrix / The Creation Station / Re: WW's thread of poorly drawn boobs on: 26 April 2013, 02:28:32
Yep definitely more solid. Ear looks a tad high but I wouldn't worry about it.

You can always tell where the artist had the hardest time with a sketch. Always the darkest part. The most erased. The most lines.

Jokes on you! I always do the hardest parts on another layer, Ultimately to be deleted and hidden from view after failure.

It's still darker and has more feathering than the rest of the drawing, which implies more time and effort!

Then I return to easier things so that I can lie to myself about being a legitimate artist.

That IS being a legitimate artist!

I'd just like to say that as a kid I never once thought Zero was a girl. That was a concept I encountered after coming here, so the idea that

Everyone thought it once.

is farcical.

Core elements lost when you change the camera angle on a Classic or X series game:

-Speed
-Jumps
-Skillful aiming
-Tricksy puzzles

That's all the core Mega Man aspects, Mr/s. Iwaki.

I used to sort of disagree with you about timeline theory stuff (I at best thought it was harmless), but then I played Skyward Sword.
I only hope it doesn't get worse.

I thought it was mostly harmless, if lame, when it was just everyone theoriziphising at each other. But once they actually published a book on it, which includes a 3rd timeline where Ganon isn't defeated during OoT by the by, it all went to hell. I still haven't played Skyward Sword and that might be part of the reason.

Also X7 had third person shooter portions that played like #####, so don't bank on that.
It was a third person shooter, but it was only one way to do it. Also, I don't think third person shooting works so much with X as it does with Classic MegaMan. My thinking is that X is supposed to be fast paced and explosive, and Classic is supposed to be precise and jumpy and shooty, with platform gimmicks strewn about.

True. As evidenced by the removal the one-screen system from Classic to X, where Classic MM would have that slower bit of transition from one single screen to another and X just kept scrolling along.

I think they could do FPS/TPS in MM but it would have to be designed BEYOND meticulously. The running and jumping around in both X and Classic would be so different at any other viewpoint. It just wouldn't be fast or tight enough, and in X's case wall jumping would be a nightmare.

I mean, Mirror's Edge did an OK job in that department but the thrust of that game is actually AVOIDING combat so it's not a particularly great example of good high octane first-person motion in this case.

I'd lean more towards third-person, for a few reasons, but would still be an ordeal.

IIt would have to be a new sub series like Legends or BN/SF that used a totally different style of gameplay/aesthetics

This.

I didn't feel like I needed to say this, but being able to aim in all directions kind of destroys the jumping aspect about a game that's supposed to be about jumping and shooting.

This.

This has been the most fun topic to post in in a while.

And this.

It's all online multiplayer.  No one gives a wet dog fart about the single player modes.
