James Rolfe. Cool.

Sad news; Ol' greeny had an accident today and part of his casing broke. This clearly happened because we were talking about his mortality.

Happy news; I'm apparently a scientist and doctor because I fixed him up and he might be stronger than ever. He writes fine, but for now he's got a little green cast that I made with painter's tape while the crazy glue cements. Clearly I am genius because no one's ever thought of gluing stuff together before. Really though, I know there's a red pen (Rose Red) that came with him in the day somewhere around the house that I was going to use as a donor but I couldn't find that one. I'm pretty sure I've fixed Ol' Greeny like this once with the blue pen (Boy Blue) that came with the others years ago.

Same here.

I'm chose to be an Infiltrator, and then I chose the Operative option on Luna.

One thing I liked about being an Infiltrator is that no other squad members are really the same kind of thing. I think Tali might be the closest.

I never put any points into Intimidate, so it's only at the one it gave me. My Charm is completely maxed out to twelve though. Intimidate is the last thing on my list to upgrade, I don't think I'll even have it maxed to the ~4 available slots if I get to level 60.

Just wondering.

I have seen footage of Saint's Row.
I'm not sure what I think.

I remember I wasn't too impressed by what I saw.

The graphics aren't that hot, but otherwise it's pretty much like San Andreas in terms of play. The second one improves a LOT all around, and though the graphics still aren't gorgeous they're not bad.

The first Saints Row is very much like an inbetween of GTA:SA and GTAIV.

That's what you get for watching Fox News.

Hey. HEY. You insult me. I didn't watch Fox News. It was part of the wikipedia entry I read. I wasn't expecting it to be bad. But I expected it to be at least a little worse from what I was hearing. It was funny before I even saw the scene.

The asari did look cool. I let her live, so I may see her again, at the very least.

Response!:
I didn't really choose anyone exactly. I was nice to everyone basically, I almost always chose the top option because I feel like that's actually what I would say. I didn't really feel a connection between Liara and I though... but I said yes just because of the curiosity I mentioned. Ashley died, and I wasn't sure there was anyone else to choose from anyway. I think if I had let it all continue on, I might've had them fight over me, which I have seen in a youtube video, but this is me thinking that because I'm always nice to everyone and I wasn't actually trying to do it, I only saw the video after I beat it and I was like "Whoa."
Same here for the Asari, but SHE is actually purple. I really thought her green clone looked so awesome.
I was nice to everyone too, and I usually picked the top response for the same reasons. I like Liara more than Ash right away. First of all she was somehow actually hotter despite being a blue alien. Then, she's a smart doctor type and I found what she had to say actually interesting. Ashley's face seems to the change after Eden Prime, and she's a total bitch to everyone. Add to that that she's a racist and that pretty much sealed it. I saved Kaidan too, since the whole game before that I was like "Kaidan you're my boy!". And because I went to Noveria first, and then Artemis Tau second, Ashley died before her and Liara would have confronted me about feelings and stuff. Yeah, if you're nice to both of them and don't really confirm anything they apparently confront you after a debriefing and you can to choose. If you try to choose both, Ashley/Kaidan gets pissed and you just continue with Liara.

On Virmire, when Wrex gets really pissed off, there's actually a chance he can die. You can kill him, or Ashley can kill him. I calmed him down, thankfully.

Also you can actually go through the game without ever getting Garrus or Wrex. But since I like them both and Garrus is pretty much my right hand man (AFTER Kaidan) I think that'd be stupid.
2320  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 6 July 2009, 06:32:14
Good idea. It can be a big a big game if you want to do everything. You don't have to, of course. In fact even most of the achievements only ask you do "most" of it, which amounts to 75% of whatever they're talking about. I did everything I could possibly do in my first playthrough except one very minor thing because I liked the game so much. People find it kind of crazy I got to level 50 in my first playthrough and got all the best possible weapons in the game (Spectre Master Gear, level X), but I liked it THAT much!

I haven't played it in  a bit so I can't totally remember the buttons, I'll probably play it soon though and I'll let you know. You can basically pistol whip them and they fall down. I definitely didn't have the hang of grenades at all in that mission (I never use them) so I had to knock the people out. Oh, also; Didn't that Asari Clone look cool? I really hope/wish there are other green Asari in the future.

Generally, the Normandy is too big to safely land. It requires a huge Mass Effect field to land a whole starship on a small planet, and most/all of the sidequest planets are small. And that's with a normal sized drive core, whereas the Normandy is a prototype and it's drive core is double the size of other spacecraft in it's class. The planets are also uncharted, which makes landing the Normandy there unsafe.

These are just a couple reasons they threw in to explain why the Normandy rarely lands and why most planets are just a square map ("operational area"). I think there's a bunch of other reasons for stuff like this in the codex entries (I read them all......... .... ::) ) that talk about it. It would be cool if the Normandy landed more often, but ultimately useless. There's no real reason you'd need it planet side.

I'm just hoping Mass Effect 2 has maybe a couple other kinds of planetary craft as well. Something that hovers and goes faster but has less protection would be great.

Anyway for the eyes of people that have played it;
Who did you choose for romance?
And who did you have with you by the end of the game?
Liberty City is still a parody of NY, and looks the part much more so in GTAIV. My problem isn't that, it's all still a parody. But the actual gameplay and stuff that happens used to be more... vivid. Or colourful, maybe. While I find GTAIV looks spectacular, it's at the same time pretty bleak looking. I'm of the impression New York City actually looks like that, but still. I get annoyed when games consist of few colours other than gunmetal grey and poo brown. But like I said I haven't had much time to immerse myself into the game. There's just a quality I can't place that sets it off from the others. Also I find Niko very bland.

But I agree with John, GTA:SA is the best of the series so far for me. For people that agree I suggest the Saints Row series. It feels very similar to how San Andreas plays, and you can see a bunch of what Rockstar adopted from Volition to make GTAIV in Saints Row. Apparently some of the downloable content in SR2 has references to Red Faction: Guerrilla...

I have a brighter GL shirt anyway!

Ah the green pen. That pen is my boy, Blue. I mean green. I've had it since high school and it's like my co-pilot pen because I keep a pen in my pocket all the time and I'm usually not afraid I'll puncture my scrotum thank you very much Costanza. I like the pen because people will be like "write this down" or "you got a pen?" and then whoever starts writing and it's "WHAT green ink?" and I'm all "You know how I do."

I don't know what it is, but IT is off.

Are you leaning forward a bit?

I'm leaning, I don't remember in what exact directions. Maybe South West West. Which would be forward and to the side?
2323  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 6 July 2009, 06:04:08
What I mean is...

OK the Canadian version of Disney Channel is called Family Channel--although it is completely owned by Disney so I don't see the point of the name change--and it has commercials, just like those, with the mini-features, including stuff like those horrible movie surfers and "music" videos, but they are ONLY seen inbetween programming. So shows and movies are never interrupted, even if a continent explodes.

It is, naturally, not at all weird for a channel to have commercials in shows, but I just figured the American version would be the same.
2324  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 6 July 2009, 05:59:01
Uhm, you know that when you run out of grenades with Anti-Thorian gas, you can just run up an melee attack everyone right? It takes them out without killing them, so you don't lose the Paragon points...

Anyway I didn't have trouble with the areas that had atmospheric threats if you were outside the Mako. Of course, I would haveten drive it up onto a high mountain and then have on foot firefights from there. With the Mako safely a bit behind me I could easily fight people below and then run back before getting hurt. I started this tactic when I was using my sniper rifle a lot and then just kept with it later on. So I was pretty fine even on worlds with big hazards.

I really don't like GTAIV but I figure if I were to play it by myself from the start I'd probably end up liking it. My main concern, though, is that GTA all of a sudden pushed to be more realistic when it had always been a comedic exaggeration of the real world. Probably why I like the Saints Row series. It feels like they fit a lot more with everything from GTA: San Andreas and backward more than GTAIV.

Yeah I really don't want to pay for a Gold membership even though there is stuff I want to play online now. And I agree with Majikn on the points card thing, it's one of the reasons I haven't gotten any of the downloadable content I've wanted for my games.

I finished Saints Row 2 today. Or rather, everything except what activities and diversions I left. I don't know how I feel about some things, but I'm thinking about the downloadable missions but again what I said above.

Like I want to do the extra stuff in Saints Row 2 and Mass Effect but... Ugh.

I never liked the idea of having to keep paying for my games either when they could have just made the game longer in the first place for the same price. I feel like it'll eventually devolve to the point where the game you actually buy is very short but oh look there's SO many add-ons for you to pay for download!

I really don't know how worth it I think this "DLC" stuff is. It never seems like you'd get your hassles worth.

I've been playing the new Transformers game, which is pretty mediocre yet fun. It holds your attention for each of the levels, which last around 7-8 minutes each, and then after you turn it off you're like "Why the hell did I buy that?"

That's what King-Fu Panda is like. Except it doesn't really give you the option to leave the game in between levels unless you just turn it off so it's like it KNOWS what it's doing.

It could have been as early as 2002, no later than 2003. That's at least six years regardless.

I just watched some CNN and I feel more like an idiot than I have for the past few days. And when I'm pissed off for no reason I feel like an idiot. And I've been pissed off for no reason for the past few days.

I've only been to Epcot for about five minutes. Enough to take a picture of the big robot testicle and then hop on the monorail for a second go at Magic Kingdom.

When I went down there, it was 1997 or early 1998. Animal Kingdom hadn't opened yet and wasn't finished, but we got special passes from some friends of friends or something and we got to go in. From what was there, it had a lot of potential. I liked it enough. I think it was finished and opened the next year.

No Disney park AT ALL beats Typhoon Lagoon though.

-Visiting other countries.

Right.

The park closed before we could thoroughly check out countries like Italy, Japan, and Canada however. I was beat by the time we got home.

Good.
I can't imagine the backwards ##### they pretend is Canadian. They probably have people wearing bear pelts, snow shoes, living in igloos and fighting giant wooly mammoths who have concussion grenade breath.

And only that last one is true!

*shrugs*

I liked The Open Door more than Fallen. I guess that's just me. Though Fallen was clearly more catchy, unique, and solid. So yeah, it's a better album as a whole. There's just stuff I like in the newer one better, and the tour for it was really good--I got free box seats for when they were here. Though it wasn't something you jump around at.

But yes Evanescence definitely folded after The Open Door.

I enjoy Evanessence... until Ms. Lee starts singing.

Since she sings in every song I don't see why you even said that part.
I'm just being nitpicky, I guess. I'm in an odd mood between work and relaxing.

While I'll listen to mostly anything, I'm in a bit of a hip-hop phase currently. My proximity to Minneapolis gives me a virtual cornicopia of underground artists to pick from, who led me to other, non-local artists, and so on.

Em hates hip-hop.

There are actually very few bands we agree upon, now that I think about it.

My favourite Minnesota act is Atmosphere. But that's really the only Minnesota act I know.
It would be nice if someone other than I knew of their stuff here.

While browsing through all The Prodigy I downloaded, I found a new theme song for myself, like if I had my own MegaMan stage how Mike did with Phantom Pt. 2:

Stand Up - The Prodigy

Yeah that song is off Invaders Must Die. It's good. As is the whole album.
I think the song is too epic for a character's theme though.

Oh yah I have to talk about the MSTRKRFT concert I went to on Tuesday, but I'll do it later.

It depends on where I want to read it, for me. When I started reading H2G2 I was working every day in an office, so it was easier to bring a small paperback back and forth on the bus.

Oh OK, I wasn't sure if that part of your post was about the video or some internet made feud between the two. I figured it does get funny so I left the tab open. It's this or watch Mad About You anyway.

... Yah it's not bad. Wonked out limbs aside, it seems I paused it like a second point three before it got good.
