I didn't really ask for anything, I'm not a gifty person.

But so far I've gotten graphic novels from people, as well as a Green Lantern fig that was pretty cool and rare. My cousins got me "de Blob" on Wii and a 2gb micro SD card that I needed, and in the family gift exchange game I won a bunch of knives we needed. My grandpa gave me money. My friend apparently got me a book about India that I'd really like.

No idea what my parent(s) have for me. But I'm all that into the gift thing so it's alright if it's nothing amazing.

Scalable Vector Graphics.

I don't really know how to explain them 'cause I'm not entirely familiar with how they work yet, but apparently you can edit them as a text file and can CODE the bitches with stuff like actions similar to flash (eg: "onmouseover") and animations.

Since it's vector, it scales while preserving the shapes (so no blurring), but that much is obvious from the name.

And probably a lot more.
SVG is to raster graphics as PHP is to HTML.
4057  MegaMan Matrix / MMM General Forum / Re: "Sorry, the PalaceServer is unavailable at this time. Please try again later." on: 24 December 2008, 04:04:34
I remember The Palace being the same type of Chatroom-with-avatars-and-rooms thing back in the day, but I never knew MChat was using that "tech".

It probably just means the server to connect you to other users and such (i.e. what makes it GO) is temporarily down.

4059  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 24 December 2008, 00:51:13
I also liked War Zone.

But I didn't think it was that good. Knowing it was made for DVD release helps. It was what Speed said, but whether that's awesome to you or not is opinion in the same way that people like Alien Vs. Predator or Death Race (I dislike the former, but liked the latter somehow).

I've heard good and bad opinions, but from the people I know are Punisher fans of the bunch, I've only heard good.

It was, at the least, kinda fun.

Little known fact; "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is actually a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald that was adapted to a graphic novel by Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir and is now adapted to film by David Fincher.

I found the graphic novel at work a week or two ago, so I might read that first/instead.

No. I just meant with a similar look. I don't think the story would translate to TV at all.

It looks silly! Who else is hyping for The Spirit?

Right. Like I said, The Spirit wasn't very good.

I've realized I wasn't just tired. The movie was not good. I only know two people who liked it, and one only liked it because he has a boner for Frank Miller and The Spirit.

But that movie didn't know what it was supposed to be. The dialogue that was basically just like The Spirit books totally didn't fit with the OTHER dialogue in the movie. And virtually everyone was lame except The Spirit, The Octopus, and his helper girl. But that's not saying all that much. They should have done it like a Dick Tracy, and not try for that Sin City look that did not work for it.

Co-op is the entire idea of the game. You absolutely need everyone else and they need you or you can't function at all. I've heard the game is only OK, in the end though. It ends up getting kind of ho hum after a while. I haven't tried it and I only kind of want to.

Flying zombies is a ridiculous idea.

I saw The Spirit in an advance screening tonight. It was alright. I might have just been tired, I don't know, but I didn't really think it was all that until the second half. It picked up well there. Definitely find Frank Miller to be up his own ass now, though.

They are both excellent, but I find it best to watch from the start.

OK I say that about most shows, but with Earl (and Chris, to a lesser extent) picking up who the characters actually are or what they're about doesn't really work out if you catch an episode. Maybe.
4087  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The "How Was Your Day?" Thread on: 19 December 2008, 03:29:56
Yesterday was basically the same as Monday. My boss gave me some work that was supposed to take long, but I figured out a way to do it all in 3 minutes. And two of those minutes was just me explaining how I did it. He gave me more work and then went home early (he was sick), and I finished my work just after 10am. So I just dicked around until four again. Read a whole Green Lantern hardcover and it was a great one. Did more sudoku puzzles, etc.

Today was my last day at the government. I finished two piles of work before 9:30, then finished my next things by 11:15, at which point we all went out for lunch (on my boss!) because it was my last day and also for an office Christmas thing. We went over to the bridge to Quebec and ate Le Bifteck. It took forever. I mean... Wow. When the food finally came (I had Filet Mignon) it was tasty but not even enough, really. For a sense of how long this all took; We got back at 2:30. Whereupon Jacques (my boss) and Carolyn left, and then Al left at about quarter to three. I kicked around doing nothing again since there was nothing, read most of a Green Lantern Corps paperback until my ride came at four.

I can't believe I made 20 bucks an hour all week and did like a half-day's worth of work! (But am getting paid for all my days in full, and probably even the day I had off.)

For me, it isn't that college is easier - it's just that I work a LOT better in a college setting, apparently. So it seems easier to me.

In high school, I was just lazy or didn't care enough to put real effort in.

OK well since I've had my program's workload compared to the workload from law school BY law school students, my view is probably skewed on this subject.

4089  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Club Nintendo on: 19 December 2008, 03:16:18
Uhmm 'kay, the last time I used my Wii was to look at the messages you sent me so forgive my ignorance but what is this? It sounds kind of like Inside XBox or whatever that stuff is (one of a few menus I'd like to take off my 360 dashboard).

Why is every console in this gen trying to copy what the others did but do it slightly different? I mean, I get it. It's capitalism. I'm there. But jeez, Playstation Home is an attempt to one up XBox 360's avatars which are just an attempt to one up the popularity of Miis.

Except, no one in their right mind (OK maybe a large portion of the gaming "community" aren't in their right minds but...) would just buy a 360 or PS3 because now they have some kind of custom game identity thing. 'Look around and I think I'm the guy here who's into the customization-type aspects in games more than the other members, and I still don't get how something like that would actually increase sales. But maybe they're just honestly trying to give their public something they like, without ulterior motives. Of I'm completely off with this point, whatever.

There's a book called;

The book of
EPIC
FAIL

(title written something like that) and while I've not read it, I never will because I hate it's title. Yes I judge books by their cover. That's how you know what damn book it is.
4091  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 19 December 2008, 02:59:22
Right. My stance on Final Fantasy starts, and often ends, with this; I can't stand any game where I absolutely hate the character that I am supposed to be. If I wanted to hate myself, I'd just keep living my normal life, I don't need that crap in my escapism.

It's sort of like in Spaced (hello, Alec) where he keeps drowning Lara Croft because of his girl troubles.

GETTING TO THE POINT; I hate Cloud, Squall (but not in Kingdom Hearts as "Leon", where I find him awesome. It helps that he's voiced by David Boreanaz, even if there's little voice-acting in the game anyway), and Tidus (I hate him the most). They've turned me off all the new FF games. And of the ones I've played, the only one I really liked was the one with Cecil (I still get confused as to which number it is).

I also remember enjoying Mystic Quest Legend (that's the EU title I played it as, but here it's just "Final Fantasy Mystic Quest" or something), but I'm not sure I ever finished it. Possibly the simplest RPG on earth, since it equips for you and you can't do anything about it, plus it sort of just pushed you right through, but a good little entry-level RPG game for getting on with in ##### time (that's the S word, ##### time means those little periods of nothing doing between actual things you have to do).

Had moderate fun with Crystal Chronicles, but the co-op was only ever good if you had the RIGHT people around. I played once where there were two control freaks in the game and I was over it. All I wanted to do was smash things with my Lilty, and we spent over an hour wandering a #####ing desert getting nothing done. That was worse than playing the game alone, which got old enough fast enough that I'll probably never pop the game in again.

"Fail" is so overused lately.

"Epic" isn't?

I would give it another shot but I'm worried even having FF7 anywhere near my house will alert rabid fans to come press up on my windows like civil zombies. And there's enough people already here doing that just 'cause I'm home, I don't need any more.
...
That's easily one of the most retarded reasons to dislike something that I can think of.
He was TOTALLY joking there. Had to have been. That wouldn't happen. Right? ... Right?

Yes, I was.
I thought it was lucid enough, but whatever.

Everyone I know looks back on high school and is ashamed that they either thought it was a lot of work/hard or that didn't do the work, because it's SO unbelieveably easy compared to what we're all doing now.

Like why did the day ever even seem long before post-secondary? Like we got off 3-something. In school now, I'm working nearly 24/7 and am allowed to do nothing but. I'm not even close to exaggerating.
4096  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: Matricians: What are you watching? on: 18 December 2008, 04:06:24
Finished Spaced.
Now I miss it.

I hate when I get into something after it's been finished, like when I finished Dead Like Me I felt the same. Sometimes it's the same with books too. It's because you end up missing the ride, you skip over the waiting time to the next episode and that makes it all a shorter experience.

Been trying to catch up on My Name Is Earl and Everybody Hates Chris online, to mixed results. Not all episodes are still on and Megavideo puts a cap on how many minutes of video you watch for a certain amount of time (lame).

It's just better with comedies because they get to be funny. Much like commentaries.
