Capcom "Project Battle"

It's a capcom card battle game with a lot of material from the X series.

But that design.  That design of X.  No.  Just no.  Why?  Why is it a thing?

They finally dish out money to commission new artwork for a project instead of reusing old art and THIS is the ##### we get?  That style is awful.  Not even all the new Iris art has me excited.  Don't know what it is, but looking like that I wouldn't touch it.

None of them look good.  X looks ABYSMAL though.  I love Iris, but this style does her no favors either.  The designs are just #####ing ugly as sin.

Also there is an orchestral arrangement of Sky Lagoon (X) in the game.  It sounds pretty good.

At 17:00 it shows Maxamillian Dood taking on X with a Ryu deck.  You'll hear it there.

It's too hard to make out much of it.  It was hard to pick up the melody much so I think it may be a heavily arranged version of it, which I don't usually like.

Some styles just don't work well with some series.  Add in an awful redesign on top of a style change and you have a recipe for disaster.

If it's contained to just this, then it's not a big problem, but if they try to push that ##### to X9 (or X in smash) then it's gonna be a problem.

X8's designs and style already looked like ##### and were a problem.  And I suspect if we get an X9 it's going to be a glorious cluster ##### of horrid plot, Axl, evolving toward Zero style designs, and a horribly unfocused 3 playable character garbage stage design, DLC cancer fest.  Of course I'm being a bit optimistic there.  It will probably be much worse.  Capcom has no benefit of the doubt or credibility with X at this point.

I can barely make out any melody at all in that mess.  It's so #####ing heavily arranged it loses the song almost entirely.  It's the worst kind of remix.  Though it does indeed sound like it used the Smash sound font.

I didn't realize you both said it, but you're totally correct: Sounds a lot more like Smash Bros. to me than Megaman X... and that's not a compliment. I didn't even finish listening to it.

I don't know why everything these days has to be forced "epic". It's silly.

Or arranged to hell so the actual song is virtually unrecognizable or the tempo and tone changed to extreme levels.  The art and music in this game are god awful.

I know you guys dont like the art, but I have to appreciate the love Teppen is giving to the X series.  We actually have art of the Nightmare Mother from X6 in the latest expansion.

I haven't been paying too much attention to Teppen, but some of the art is nice. Some of it is odd and then X's redesign was pretty unnecessary... somehow makes X8 style look acceptable.

Game was boring for me though. Played a few stories and then never played it again.

Keep in mind it's also mobile garbage, and designed as such.  That's why it's even more puzzling they spent actual money on new art for this, especially when it's so bad.
