This console generation killed them.

As much as I like Achievement points with their pissing contents, I do miss Game Genie and Pro Action Replay. I miss the ol' invincible feeling for games like Ninja Gaiden. ASPTPO, how I loved thee...

What the hell...NBC canceled Southland because it's too "dark and gritty" for a 9 P.M. timeslot, even though the first episode of the second season is to air two weeks from now and six episodes have already been filmed. Of course, they could just move it to a 10 PM slot - oh wait - they don't want to ruin Jay Leno's new show. Supposedly ABC may pick up the show because they've been looking for a cop drama for a while - here's hoping.

NBC really has it out for John Wells (the producer/creator/writer). They screwed Third Watch despite pulling great ratings, and now they do this to Southland.

I'm still plugging away at Bionicle Heroes; I've been the game and I have 84% completion. I have to get enough money to purchase one extra room, and I have to find the rest of the gold and silver canisters. It really shouldn't be too hard; all I have to do is go through the rest of the levels now that I have all of the necessary masks.
755  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcoming Games Topic on: 10 October 2009, 13:48:43
It took me forever to replace the sleeve of my copy of Tales of Symphonia, and that's working at a damn game store.

I assume you can understand my plight then. The spine PS3 logo is now ~27% longer, a different typeface, and a different color. This is going to look terrible.

You work at a game store? If I'm having problems getting it on release day, any chance you could help a brother out with Dragon Age: Collector's Edition?
756  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: Upcoming Games Topic on: 2 October 2009, 18:41:13
I played online at a friend's house once. It may have been CoD4 but I think it was World at War. The second I respawned I was sniped. Multiple times. :[

That's why I don't play any of the COD games online. I've never seen a game with so many spawn campers in my life.

Super Street Fighter IV has now been confirmed. It'll come out next year on a retail disc (not priced at $60, though). Due to the numerous changes between SF4 and SSF4, the two games will not be compatible with each other online.

Plus, Dee-Jay has now been confirmed.

It looks like Capcom will be announcing some news about Street Fighter IV soon. Probably an updated game (Super Street Fighter IV, coming to a store near you?) or perhaps DLC in the way of new fighters (T. Hawk was seen recently).

762  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 28 September 2009, 12:34:29
I bopped my way through the first part of the game last night (there are currently five sections to the game). I wasn't too impressed with it - its a prettier Streets of Rage with the super-cheap AI of the TMNT arcade game. At the same time though, I also get the vibe that you're supposed to play this with other people - not alone - so I'm going to try that later tonight.

I also downloaded Comix Zone and Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting (both are 400 MS points). Street Fighter II is what you'd expect it to be, and it just proved once again that you can't play a fighting game on a 360 controller.

Comix Zone on the other hand is a very fun game (I had never played it before until last night. I knew of it and the idea behind it, but never played it.), but I'm really not a fan of only having one life in the game. It also seems as though your life depletes the more you punch things. I can see that part of the idea was for you to use the stuff in the environment to make it so you wouldn't have to do this, but that doesn't really make sense - there aren't enough tools spread out all over the levels for this to really work. The enemies aren't particularly difficult; losing life over every damn thing is.

I beat the campaign of Halo 3: ODST (shouldn't it really be called Halo 2: ODST?) the other day. I really like the game. Running around as The Rookie has a much different feel compared to the previous Halo games, and its really helped by the noir look and the jazz music that plays.

I will say this though: ##### this weekend's Double EXP thing. It's all Halo 3: ODST-inspired stuff, and that means they gave the pistol a little more juice, making it ridiculous and the only weapon anyone wants to use. #####. That. #####.

Last night was awesome. Working this morning and afternoon hungover isn't.

I went to a bar last night with some friends and had a ton to drink. Lots of Yuengling and plenty of shots that I have no idea what was in them. Then we went back to one of my friend's apartments and I got even more trashed.

But because I have to work this morning instead of sleep, I'm currently hating life.

I'm currently juggling Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, and Wet. When I feel like being an achievement whore, I pop in Bionicle Heroes.

Wet seems to be pretty cool, but I have the feeling that I could've waited to purchase this. Granted, I picked it up for $50 because I preordered, but part of me thinks I should've waited until I could've gotten it for $30.
772  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 21 September 2009, 00:08:36

I always wanted to play Tron 2.0, but it was probably bad.

I played it for the PC; it was pretty good. A little confusing at times due to the backgrounds (black with small colored lines), but very neat looking.

I watched Pride and Glory this morning. I thought it was a pretty good movie, but it felt like an aborted pilot for an HBO cop show.

LEGO Indy is okay, but they ramped up the difficulty a bit, and the partner A.I. seems to be dumber in this one. The thing that I don't like about it was that the LEGO Star Wars games, sure, they had some killing in there, but it was a lot of puzzles and building while being able to act out scenes. In LEGO Indy, it is never a fair fight (a swarm of Nazis will kick your ass a couple of time before you defeat them all), and you have to shoot them with a gun or whip them a few times. I dunno, it's weird - for some reason it feels like LEGO was actually promoting violence with this one, and I don't really dig it.

One thing that I thought was funny was that to have Nazis in the game, they can't come out and say it or give them all swaztikas on their clothing - so they all have blonde hair and blue eyes.
784  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / Re: What game are you playing? on: 8 August 2009, 01:21:57
I'm currently playing between LEGO Indiana Jones and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

All of you know how the LEGO games play, so I won't go into detail.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra's gameplay is this: a crappy Contra knock-off mixed with a crappy version of the Gears of War cover system, with a #####ty camera system to top it off. I'm sure this game is a blast to play with another person, but unfortunately that other person has to be sitting next to you - Live play is not enabled. I'd suggest picking it up if you can find it for $25-30 brand-new; it's helluva lot better than the Transformers 2 game.

Moon isn't playing up here anymore either. The Cinemark up here usually only runs two "CineArts" at a time, and they just brought in 500 Days of Summer (the other is The Hurt Locker, which I will probably see on Sunday).

I find it really hilarious that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is now down to a single 11:10 AM showing, while The Hangover is still going strong with five regular showings per day.

Today will be a good day.
789  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 6 August 2009, 16:48:12
I saw Moon last night. Excellent, excellent film. Probably the best non-Star Trek film of the year.

Anyway, I went in there with the knowledge of "It's about a lone astronaut on the moon who only has a robot for company. Two weeks left into his three-year stint, he starts wondering if he's going insane and what's real after he has an accident," which is essentially what every synopsis said.

Except that's maybe just the first forty minutes. After that, it takes a drastic turn which I don't care to discuss because it completely blindsided me (perhaps because I was relying on the synopsis that others were giving) and gives away a huge chunk of the story. Needless to say, despite the fact that it wasn't as much of a psychological drama that I had been led to believe, I was still completely pleased with what I saw. This isn't a movie that could have ever received a wide release (it feels like an episode of The Outer Limits or something), but I'm damn glad this was made. I hope that it gets nominated for a few Oscars this year.

Moon is nothing short of amazing.

791  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 3 August 2009, 12:50:31
I saw Bruno last night. It felt like more of the same (like Borat), yet different at the same time. Borat was there to bring out the worst in people, while Bruno is really just there to shock you. Hilarious movie, but not as good as Borat. Apparently Cohen has created a new character that he's going to use for a film in 2011, where this time he's an aspiring singer hoping to get onto something named Eurovision.

I bought my ticket for the midnight showing of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, w00t.

I may go see Moon tonight. If I don't see it tonight, then I'll probably go see it Wednesday night.

Then next week I'm going to try to see The Collector and The Hurt Locker.
792  Non-MegaMan / Any Other Business? / Re: The MOVIE Thread on: 2 August 2009, 16:59:03
I'm house-sitting for a co-worker, so last night I watched The Spirit and The International.

I felt like The Spirit was a fun movie, more of an adult version of the Adam West "Batman" show. The only people who really matter in this movie are Eva Mendes (MARRY ME!), Samuel L. Jackson, and Scarlett Johannson. Gabriel Macht is okay as the Spirit, but his performance was really just "meh". Samuel L. Jackson's performance is what you need to be watching in this movie; he's hilarious and over-the-top awesome. The wardrobe that they have for him is great too. Fur, samurai stuff, and a Nazi uniform all in one movie! Too bad this didn't do well enough in the theaters to warrant a sequel, because I would have been interested in seeing it.

The International is a very well-made film that unfortunately had to suffer much like the movies about the war in Iraq (Stop-Loss, Rendition, Lions for Lambs, The Kingdom) back in 2006 ("Banks are evil and got us into this economic mess? DO TELL."), thus nobody went to see it. I was surprised to see that it was made by the same director as Run Lola Run. Clive Owen was awesome in this, although I could have done without Naomi Watts. I've never really been impressed with her performances ever since I first saw her in I Heart Huckabee's. The movie was marketed wrong; they made it seem like a huge action movie when it really isn't. I'd highly recommend it though; it's a fairly underrated, riveting thriller.

The only one with that avatar who isn't a sellout right now is Edge.

When I made it my avatar, I had completely forgotten that Edge had it. I made it my avatar in support of the whole 4chan vs. AT&T thing. I had a Firefox app named ReloadEvery running on at home and work, reloading a search for "AT T blocks 4chan" every 5 or 10 seconds on Yahoo, Google, Lycos, Infoseek, Bing, Dogpile, and a couple of others so it would boost the news up.

Edit: The other ones were AltaVista and Ask.
