1  Non-MegaMan / Non-MegaMan Games / The "Gauntlet" thread (Numbered, Legends, Dark Legacy, etc.) on: 24 April 2013, 05:02:20
"Red Wizard needs food badly!"

Remember that saying or something along those lines?

I do.  My first experience with the Gauntlet series is playing Gauntlet Legends in 1998.  I was curious on why crowds of people lined up to play the game.  When I finally got to play it, I was addicted to it.  The 3D graphics were beautiful for its time.  The gameplay was unlike anything I have played before.  It was easy to get into and hard to master.  But once I mastered the game, it felt satisfying and loved Gauntlet Legends a lot ever since.  Playing the game with other players took a bit of time to get used to with the increased number of dangerous objects, but eventually got used to it too.  I used the Blue Valkyrie the most, followed closely by the Green Archer.  The Dreamcast and Playstation versions made the arcade experience feel right at home in exciting ways.

Gauntlet Dark Legacy is the expanded version of Gauntlet Legends and I love it even more because there are more stages, paths, and music to enjoy.  The arcade version was really fun, especially when I played with other players.  All of the console versions were great too, of course.

Gauntlet Legends and Gauntlet Dark Legacy helped me grow as a gamer, as a team player, and as a person.

So mighty heroes, did you play and enjoy the Gauntlet games?
2  MegaMan Series / Miscellaneous MegaMan Games / Re: It just keeps getting worse... on: 24 April 2013, 04:53:59
I already replied in a similar topic, but I would actually try the Megaman X FPS game as long as the game has the following elements:

1. The graphics better look good and flow well with the game.

2. The story better be good.

3. The gameplay should retain most of the core Megaman aspects.

4. If there is an online multiplayer, there better be a good netcode.

5. The special weapons better not be too useful or too useless.  In other words, not as OP as the Metal Blade in Megaman 2 and not as situational as Vengeful Needles in Megaman X Command Mission.

5  MegaMan Series / Legends Series / How do you honestly feel about the Mega Man Legends series? on: 10 February 2013, 23:06:05
I will say that the Mega Man Legends series is one of my favorite Mega Man series.  In fact, I still play Mega Man Legends 1 and Mega Man Legends 2 today.  These games had beautiful 3d graphics, cool gameplay, a variety of weaponry, and a decent open world feel.

I was angry when Legends 3 was cancelled and not even green lighted.

Those said, I am curious to see on how others feel about the Legends series.

I just hope that the Legends games get more love from Capcom soon, especially from Capcom of Japan, as Capcom of USA likes Legends and knows about the love for Legends 3.
6  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: It must be slow in 21xx... on: 10 February 2013, 23:00:06
Sigma is one of my favorite characters in the X series.  In fact, he is one of my favorite characters in video games.

My user name in other sites is "Sigma Zero X" for those who did not know yet.

That said, here are some parts.

X1 and the real X8 Sigma are tied for my overall favorite design and movesets for Sigma.

X5 and X7 are honorable mentions.  (Sigma's Falcon Punch in X7 FTW BTW.)

All forms are cool in the end.
7  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Mega Man X CM - Massimo Action Trigger Power Up Semi Tutorial on: 10 February 2013, 22:57:03
I always liked Massimo.  When combined with Interceptor, he was a saving grace.  Especially against Ninetails.

I know that I am late in saying this, but I agree with you on the Interceptor part.  But not against Ninetails.  I used Beast Lancer against Ninetails as it is more powerful.

Then again, the 93 power rating is not just for show.  It is real helpful against Scarface, Duckbill Mole, Rafflesian, and Epsilon when used properly with the Power Boosts, Power Charges, and the Fully Powered Action Trigger.
8  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: What is your favorite X game? on: 13 January 2013, 21:27:11
I liked all of Mega Man X games, including Mega Man X7.  I believe I made a thread earlier on why I seriously love Mega Man X7.

If I were to choose a favorite Mega Man X games, it is tied between Mega Man X8 and Mega Man X Command Mission.

X8 had the cool looking 3D graphics, great rock/metal music, fast paced gameplay, and a variety of playable characters (X, Zero, Axl, Alia, Layer, and Pallette.)

Command Mission also had wonderful graphics, excellent music, fun gameplay, and all playable characters were worth using.

However, my favorite X games were not without faults.

For X8, there were no endings for the playable navigators.  The story overall was not too good IMO.

For Command Mission. The story was basically the worst out of all of the Mega Man X games.  Sure there were good plot points at times.  Unfortunately, they were all ruined by leaving Massimo, Marino, and Cinnamon out of the cutscenes and the ending.  Leaving these 3 important characters to the plot and gameplay out of the overall story is a huge No-No.

With all of that said, each game has strengths and weaknesses that I can respect to the point where I love every Mega Man X game.
9  MegaMan Series / X Series / Mega Man X CM - Massimo Action Trigger Power Up Semi Tutorial on: 21 September 2012, 07:18:40
So I decided to make semi-tutorials on how to build up Massimo's Action Trigger in Mega Man X Command Mission.  That way, I can show that Massimo is a worthy party member just like everyone else at any time.  That being said, here are the videos:

The Action Trigger must hit an enemy with at least 3,000 damage in one shot to gain the "Critical" power gauge for the Berserk Charge.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHj68LdveE8

The Action Trigger must hit an enemy with at least 10,000 damage in one shot to gain the "Multistage" power gauge for the Berserk Charge.  The following video will also treat you to a boss battle since I wanted to gain the Action Trigger power in a unique and special way.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRntQ4pWNfU

If none of the links are working, please let me know.  That being said, I hope you enjoy them.
10  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: A Special Megaman X Command Mission Ninetails video that I made on: 22 July 2012, 18:11:00
Oh what's that?  You wanted to attack me now?  ##### YOU INTECEPTOR TO THE FACE!

I love Massimo.

Although I did not use Interceptor in the videos, I will say that the 93 power rating from that weapon is not just for show.  It really makes his Action Trigger quite powerful.

11  MegaMan Series / X Series / A Special Megaman X Command Mission Ninetails video that I made on: 7 April 2012, 04:46:15
I don't know how many members in this forum played Megaman X Command Mission and fought Ninetails.  Some say he is the hardest Megaman X Command Mission boss.  Many players used the Ultimate Armor, Absolute Zero, and Stealth Hyper Modes in this battle because of the insane power, speed, and auto-healing abilities of Ninetails.  However, I don't need these hyper modes.  In fact, I don't need any hyper modes to win against Ninetails.  Here is a video if anyone is interested:

Here is a similar version, but with a different attacker instead:

I am not interested in using Facebook or Twitter.  I'd rather use MySpace (not that I would use it either.)

YouTube, GameFAQs, and various Megaman forums are good enough for me.
13  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Am I the only one who truly liked Megaman X7? on: 1 April 2012, 22:12:00
Playing it properly?

... I won't lie, something about that sounds wrong.

I'll admit, I played X7 a lot when I got it, beat it a bunch of times, did practically EVERYTHING, even saving every Reploid in every stage (It gets you nothing, by the way, woo)... The first time playing it was horrifying. So many damn game overs.

It's not that it's hard, it's just poorly designed practically everywhere.

I can understand if you like (even if I think you're insane), but you have to admit the game has really big flaws...

When I said "play this game properly", I meant that one should not really play X7 like the way he/she played the previous Megaman X games.

I believe that I implied that the game did have flaws when I said that the game was "fair at best".  Yes the camera was rough at times, especially during the Boarski and Anteator fights (the Red fight did have the 3d camera angle right IMO though.)  Slowdowns occur in several places. These factors were big in the past three years ago.

However, when I gave Megaman X7 a chance a year ago and played it further, I started to use a different approach in the 3d areas.  My arcade gaming experience and adaptability influenced me to treat my controller like my personal arcade stick on my left lap/thigh (or whatever the area someone wants to call it) when I sit down.  This approach allowed me to do the following things that really helped me in the 3d areas:

- Left thumb had full control over the analog stick
- Both pinky and ring fingers have control over the shoulder buttons.
- The left pointer and middle fingers are free and are used when needed
- The right hand is free; the right thumb, pointer, and middle fingers can press whatever of the the four main buttons I need to use
- I can also adjust the controller when necessary

As a result of the change in playstyle and my adaptable nature, I did quite a bit of things that I once thought was impossible.  In fact, I somewhat mentioned earlier that I beat Red with all of the available characters on Hard perfectly.  Here is the playlist showing each video:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC86348E85866FDA6&feature=plcp

It is not that exciting for many to see, but for me, beating Red on Hard perfectly the way I did was something that made me appreciate Megaman X7 more than I did before.  I did not see other YouTube users do it, so I took the initiative to accomplish this mission of what I did and show that winning against a very tough boss like Red is possible when using any playable character.

I'll admit that X7 is not the ideal game for many Megaman X players.  I'll admit that this game has major flaws.  I'll admit that I am not exactly fit to be among the smartest people alive.  However, I was serious when I said that I liked Megaman X7 a lot.  I kept my opinions on this game real and I posted the my words from the heart.
14  MegaMan Series / X Series / Re: Am I the only one who truly liked Megaman X7? on: 1 April 2012, 19:22:43
Sorry, but the 3D graphics were very irritating on the eyes and the camera control didn't help things.  I perfer 2D gameplay since it works better for Megaman.  And auto aim?  No thank you.  Takes away the challenge.

Ironically, the video that I showed in my first post showed that beating Red on Hard with only the Axl Bullets without dying required skills as the video illustrated, regardless of the auto aim's pros and cons.

Your own video illustrates one of the main reasons why I disliked that game so much... the long, unforgiving repetitiveness of it. If you played anyone other than Zero you'd run out special weapons that actually harm bosses to a considerable degree, and you're stuck pea-shooting them for a good... over ten minutes, as you can see here.

I don't think that MMX CAN'T be done well in 3D, but in this case I still feel like the game could have been much, much better even despite its design gimmick.

EDIT:fixedtypo

If I felt like it, I could beat Red on Hard perfectly using stronger weapons such as Axl's regular shot from the G-Launcher, Zero's Hieijin move, and the Charged Shots from X/Glide Armor X.  These weapons make the victories against Red become earned much faster.

I guess that in this site, I am probably the only one who truly liked Megaman X7.  However, that does not change the fact that I respect the opinions of everyone else who commented in this thread.

Actually I hear Splash Laser is X's most powerful weapon when charged.  It decimates bosses with ease.

That is indeed true.  Here is an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNX0A-GFjPM

However, the X-Buster is more useful against defensive bosses such as Red, mobile bosses such as Wind Crowrang, or aggressive bosses such as Snipe Anteator.

Well maybe I just sucked and missed a lot. I hardly even remember what went down in the actual game. It was years ago. I sold it for 2.95 and I was happy to get that much.

I'll admit that Megaman X7 is not for everyone.  It takes practive and dedication to play this game properly.

I think you'll fit in fine.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

He might. His name might not.

Thanks for the warm welcome too.  As for choosing my user name, it was a tough decision for me after finding out that I could not use "Zero" as part of the name.  This was also the case in the Legends Station forums.

As a result, I used the Sudo Iwaki X name because of the following things:

1.  I like Lancer Evolutions and most of the characters in Initial D who drive them.  In Initial D, Kyouichi Sudo drives a Lancer Evolution III and Seiji Iwaki drives a Lancer Evolution IV.  I also like the way these guys act and drive.  As you can see, I derived parts of my current user name from last names of these Evo drivers.

2.  I like Megaman X.  Period.  As a result, I used the "X" in my user name.

17  MegaMan Series / X Series / Am I the only one who truly liked Megaman X7? on: 17 March 2012, 22:38:02
I initially thought that X7 was only fair at best.  However, I did a little soul searching and I gave this game another chance.  I tried several strategies here and there.  It got to the point when I eventually made a cool gameplay video of a perfect victory against Red on Hard using Axl with his only his default Axl Bullets.  All of Red's attacks were dodged successfully, no damage was taken during the battle, and all lives are intact.  Here is a link to the video for anyone interested:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-A-bU_yRFng

I have no intention of offending or "trolling" anyone who hates or dislikes this game.  I am aware that X7 is not the best Megaman X game out there.  The storyline was so-so for me.  However, I liked the 3d graphics, various music themes, and both the 2d and 3d gameplay of X7.  I appreciated the fact that Capcom was willing to try new things with this game.  In the end, I loved Megaman X7 a lot.

Hi all.  This is my first post here.  I am Sudo Iwaki X.  I also use this user name at the Legends Station.

In The Megaman Network, Megamanx9.com, and Rockman PM, I am known as Sigma Zero X.

I hope that I am welcome here.  Thanks.
