In order of the ones I like more at top to the ones I like less at end.

Super Mario World.
Super Mario galaxy
Super Mario 64.
Super Mario Bros. 3
Never played New Super Mario Bros....Is it the one where you raise stuff and throw it at other stuff? If it is, then it goes last.
Anyways, they are all awesome.

Super Mario World ftw.

It was the perfection of the craft.

Super Mario 64 DS.
A classic made better, can't beat that.

My favorite was The New SMB. It had a lot of the elements from all the games I've played, personally, SMW never had me hooked, the original SMB though.. loved it.

It's Super Mario World.

Disagreement is futile.

Anyone who says SMB3 fails.

World 8 was bereft of fun.

Super Mario World followed by Mario 64

I'd have to say

1) Super Mario World
2) Super Mario 64
3) Super Mario 3
4) Super Mario 2
5) New Super Mario

Not got to play Galaxy much at all, so I can't rank it just yet. I'm guessint it would be on the top 5 though, probably knocking off NSM.

You mean SMB2 in Japan? Or... Doki Doki Panic?...

It's a hard decision really. I'd say New Super Mario Bros. if it wasn't too easy.

In order of all the games I could think of:

1.) Super Mario World
2.) Super Mario 64
3.) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
4.) New Super Mario Bros.
5.) Mario Kart 64
6.) Super Mario Kart
7.) Mario Kart DS
8.) Super Mario Bros. 3
9.) Mario Kart: Double Dash
10.) Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
11.) Paper Mario
12.) Super Mario Bros.
13.) Super Mario Sunshine
14.) Super Mario Galaxy
15.) Super Mario Bros. 2
16.) Super Paper Mario.
17.) Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels

Mario Party Excluded.

When I say Super Mario Bros 2 I mean Super Mario Bros 2.  Did I say "The Lost Levels"?  Did I say "Doki Doki Panic?"  No.  The US version of SMB2 IS SMB2 everywhere, even Japan seeing as how Shy Guys and Birdo are now part of SMB canon.  Doki Doki Panic is Doki Doki Panic.  Further stupid questions shall be answered with a swift strike of the Tomatoe stick.

I don't think the Kart or Paper games count.

Dude, I think at least Super Paper Mario should count, it had classic side scrolling action.

1) Super Mario World
2) Super Mario Bros. 3
3) Super Mario 64 (DS)
4) Super Mario Galaxy
5) Super Mario Sunshine

I consider 2D and 3D Mario games to be entirely different series, just as Mario Kart is entirely different from Mario Party. I think it's best if everyone thought like that, and I'd resort to genocide to enforce it.

Anyway, I grew up on Super Mario World. I started gaming on SNES and got NES after that, and even then, I was only borrowing the system (NES) and had to give it back after a year. Even though I had Super Mario All-Stars + World, I always played World the most. It solidified my interest in gaming.

Next to World, I played SMB3 the most on All-Stars. It was a lot more complex than the others but still remained so very simple, and I liked that. At that age I couldn't handle The Lost Levels, and I got bored of SMB1 what with 3 and World available. I hated SMB2. I just didn't like the game, that's all.

Well, I just excluded the Mario Party games because they seemed whored out, and I've only played the first, fifth, sixth, and seventh one. Out of those, I only really liked the first and sixth one. The first one the most.

My top 5;

1) Super Mario World - Awesome. Replayed it about a billion times and it's one of the best looking ones too. Defined a lot more of the Mario world.

2) Super Mario Bros. 3 - Last levels aside, I've played this one almost as much as SMW if not more.

3) Super Mario 64 DS - When it came out originally I liked it but not enough to really want to go through it all but when they remade it to DS I couldn't get enough of it.

4) Super Mario Bros. - Yes.

5) Super Mario Bros. 2 - Yessum.

Galaxy will probably take #4 place if I get it and finish it all. Honourable mention to Mario Is Missing.

Dude, I think at least Super Paper Mario should count, it had classic side scrolling action.

It gets old fast, I found.

Sure, Super Paper Mario should count, but it doesn't mean anybody should be caught dead with it on their list. It's a disgrace.

Great idea, horrible vessel.

Super Paper Mario wasn't bad. It just got boreing after chapter 3.

For the platformers:
1)Super Mario World
2)Super Mario Bros. 3
3)New Super Mario Bros.

For the RPGs:
1)Super Mario RPG
2)Mario and Luigi: SuperStar Saga
3)Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

And finally, EarthBound. Wait, EarthBound doesn't have anything to do with Mario...

Then make a "Best Earthbound Game" threa- OH WAIT. YOU CAN'T. EVERYONE'S TOP 3 LISTS WOULD BE THE SAME 3 GAMES.

Not to mention, I highly doubt anyone here played any of the games other than EarthBound.

In fact, I think I'm the only one here who actually owns MOTHER 3.

I've played Mother 1, if that makes you happy.

I plan on getting Mother 3 in the near future. >_>

Mother 2 is the best because the final boss is the manifestation of evil and surprise sex films.

Actually, contray to popular belief, Itoi saw a rape scene in a normal movie, not in a pr0nz film.

But anyway, while EarthBound has the most awesomeness and epic final boss battle, MOTHER3 has the most emotional and tear-jerking final boss battle.

Giegue > Masked Man > Giegue 2 aka Giygas.
