Title: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: JustLee on 28 September 2009, 14:55:46
I'm guessing most of you guys already got this announcement, but Inti Creates has been working on another Rockman album. They've been selling it at the Tokyo Game Show already, but it's not shipping worldwide yet (15th of October).

If you want to listen to a preview, visit the Inti Creates website: http://www.inti.co.jp/cd/chiptune/index.htm (http://www.inti.co.jp/cd/chiptune/index.htm) and click on the Chiptuned Rockman Magnetic Piece Edit at the top. Enjoy!

I heard Oil Man's Time Man's theme in there from MMPU.

It all sounded pretty good, sounds like it'll be LOADS better than that crappy MM9 Arranged album.

Okay, sorry. I made the above account because I couldn't remember my login of this account. Which I happened to re-remember this very moment! So hey, what's up.

ONTOPIC:
I think this new Chip Tuned Rockman stuff sounds a bit like the Turtles on the NES. Not necessarily a bad thing, if used wisely.

Okay, so I clicked this link thinking "Another crappy album I guess..."

With that said, I'm wrong. I actually like it.

EDIT: Also, Abe, this is about MRadio. I'm tired of listening to it. Don't get me wrong, I love 8-bit music, but you added Gameboy into the mix. It's annoying to listen to. It'll be BubbleMan one minute, Chargeman the next, awesome MM9 Special Stage, and then WOAH SEIZURE METAL MAN STAGE FROM MM2GB.

Any chance you might change it?

Posted on: 28 September 2009, 17:49:31

I really like this music, but everything is far too short to enjoy anything, and it's upsetting...

Changed :D

Awesome.

Post by: KPL on 28 September 2009, 20:14:37
Well, I kinda liked the gameboy music of Megaman. Some are completely different, but that doesn't mean they are bad. They did show up quite often though, and that doesn't seem right. Let's listen to it and see what happens!

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: ChaosVortex on 28 September 2009, 21:47:22
They're relatively bad compared to a lot of the NES ones. Some I can stand, but a lot the music I hear (like from Mega Man 2) is just random nonsense.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: Abominator on 28 September 2009, 22:01:16
MM2GB does have horrendous music, it must be said.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: KPL on 28 September 2009, 22:37:13
Wow, okay. I had no real objections to the soundtrack before.. Guess I should listen to them again and think about changing my opinion.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: Fatso on 28 September 2009, 23:03:49
MM2GB's soundtrack could be immediately improved by transposing the square-wave tracks down an octave. Then it would merely be annoying, not painful.

Just noticed that myself, I like that.

I thought that too, but I thought it was just me.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: KPL on 29 September 2009, 01:48:47
I've always liked the Turtles soundtrack for the NES, so this it not a bad thing at all. They just have to make sure it'll still sound like good old Megaman.

MM2GB does have horrendous music, it must be said.

I loved MM2GB's music!  To hell with you all.  What I HATE is the anime soundtrack ##### mixed in with the game music on the radio.  That and I just don't care for most ANY of the BN4+ or MMZ/ZX garbage music.

JUST MAKE MMMRADIO CLASSIC AND X MUSIC!!!

... anyway, I'll have to sample the chip tune stuff when I get home.  The last few "remix" albums they've done have been complete #####.  I'm not really expecting anything out this new one.

You know what, I don't get what you guys are on 'cause you don't get call up your radio stations and tell them to take certain songs off the rotation just for you!

Funny you should say that! Abe is currently going into negotiations to get MRadio broadcast on several stations throughout Chicago, Ottawa, and sections of New Zealand.

Yay, a supporter :) I just listened to the soundtrack again, and there are a few that are not very good. But I mean, Air Man is great.

Post by: TheRedPriest on 30 September 2009, 14:23:13
Yes, well, you can't beat Air Man.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: KPL on 30 September 2009, 14:25:30
Yea, well, if I don't, I can't get through Fire Man's level. I NEED NO. 2!

Yea, well, if I don't, I can't get through Fire Man's level. I NEED NO. 2!

... wow.  You failed TWICE with one post.

:: golf claps ::

Wily Fun Bux to anyone who can point out why to the poor boy.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: KPL on 30 September 2009, 14:30:57
I think, because you don't get no. 2 from Air Man. Either that, or no. 2 isn't the right weapon.

Hell, I don't know. I just beat every level/boss with the mega buster. that's how stupid awesome I am.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: NovaMan XP on 30 September 2009, 15:35:10
It's Item 2.

Also, I'm not sure if that's in MM2 GB, but eh. Also you missed some reference.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman

Heat Man... >.>

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman

...

That too.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: TheRedPriest on 30 September 2009, 20:18:10
Heat Man... >.>

Correct for 1.  So you get half a Wily Fun Buck.

"You can't beat Airman" was a dual reference to "you can't beat _______" in regards to something you like/something that's good (as in Air Man's theme can't be beat) and also more directly to Air Man the "I can't beat Air Man".  Such a delicious double entendre.  AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN CATCH IT.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: ASR on 30 September 2009, 23:01:00
I caught it, I just thought it was ridiculous that you were going to make people guess because it was so obvious.

But then nobody got it, apparently.

Wily Fun Bux are for losers!

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: Majikn on 1 October 2009, 00:18:52
I think anyone would have caught it without thinking it interesting enough to point out that they caught it.

Plenty of times I've understood a person clearly and went on as if I didn't because the subject of my understanding was so pointless it just didn't warrant any kind of reaction out of me.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: NovaMan XP on 1 October 2009, 05:06:44
Some samples. And they're under 30 seconds this time, not under 3. (http://www.themmnetwork.com/2009/09/30/chip-tuned-rockman-a-review-samples-and-pontification/)

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman

Ooooh, those are pretty sick actually.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: Fatso on 1 October 2009, 05:47:33
Best one of those samples is definitely Ground Man. All the others use waaaayy too much noise channel

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: Johncarllos on 1 October 2009, 05:49:43
Nobody else knows what you're talking about.

Shush.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: Fatso on 1 October 2009, 05:59:25
Noise channel makes the KSSSSH sounds that become the percussion, also makes the buzzing sounds a la Quick Man's theme from MM2

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: KPL on 1 October 2009, 10:24:49
Heat Man... >.>

Oh god, did I really say Fire Man? Wow. I need to have a marathon playing through the games. Or think before I reply. I think I'll do both.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: NovaMan XP on 1 October 2009, 15:14:39
My favorite out of the samples at the moment is Slash Man's theme.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: KPL on 1 October 2009, 17:00:07
I liked all of them, Ground Man, Slash Man and Shadow Man in particular. They did some real cool stuff with Shadow Mans beat.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: TheRedPriest on 1 October 2009, 19:16:48
Sigh.  More "throw in so much random FREESTYLINZ" you can barely make out the actual melody #####.  Not that I should be surprised.

I love the cover though.  That's about the only positive I have to say based on those samples.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: Fatso on 1 October 2009, 22:50:48
You clearly didn't hear the Ground Man, which is more of an arrangement than a 'remix'

Actually pretty much sounds like it would if RnF's soundtrack had been composed for a Konami game with the VRC6 expansion chip

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: TheRedPriest on 1 October 2009, 23:12:00
I did listen to it.  I still found it to have more crap in it than a good arrangement should.  Mind you it wasn't as bad as some of the others, but it was still awful.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: ChaosVortex on 2 October 2009, 17:38:23
Well here's my judgement.

Tornado Man = Wow, way to screw THAT theme up. Thanks a lot.
Ground Man = I dig it. Feels better than the original, and what a Mega Man & Bass FC/NES theme might sound like. I don't hear what's wrong.
Slash Man = It's meh. It's good, and eh. I liked it halfway, but they messed with it too much. Stick with the NES version.
Bright Man = ... nah. I'm not feelin' it. At all.
Shadow Man = Why does this sound like some stupid 8-bit rap? Do not want.
Wood Man = ... what? How... how... I don't understand...

How could these tracks turn out SO bad. It SOUNDED good from the Inti website, but... how could you screw this up? Ground Man is the only decent one...

Posted on:  2 October 2009, 02:24:20

There was a leaked track posted on TMMN just a while ago but they took it down. If anybody wants to hear it, I managed to get it. It sounds pretty good.

Pass it on. (http://www.freewebs.com/chaosvortex/WilyStage2Sample.mp3)

Wind sent me a link to the MM3 Opening/SnakeMan track.

I LOVED it.

Can't speak for the rest, though. I listened to the ShadowMan sample because ShadowMan is a favorite track of mine, and it was fine but didn't really impress me. The Opening/SnakeMan one left a real impression.

You're welcome

The TornadoMan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0hr0LRcfcs&feature=related) track was what I went for immediately, overall it's good but not as good as the MM3-SnakeMan one.. I DO like the whole storm warning sirens in the beginning, and the whole hectic I'm-in-a-goddamn-hurricane feel to it.

Dude what did you think was gonna happen? I went to it because I WANTED to hear that, and then was pleasantly surprised it wasn't conventional, haha!

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: NovaMan XP on 3 October 2009, 04:16:38
I was only half-joking, but it was just that FreeWebs had to make it take forever for me to download it, and then Winamp took forever to open, and then when it finally played, I finally realized what just happened.

I blame my PC for that though.

EDIT: The beginning of that Tornado Man theme was just eh. And then the rest of it didn't even SOUND like the theme. At around 1:25 is when it finally sounded like the theme.

That's the one thing I ALWAYS hate about these albums, it's just some random bull#####, part of the theme, and more random bull#####.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman

I would have just uploaded it here, but apparently it's too big.

Posted on:  3 October 2009, 05:05:16

By the sound of the samples on TMMN, this isn't something I'd want to listen to regularly. That's why I'm shunning it.

I was playing Mega Man 3 a few days ago, and I still like Snake Man's theme. This Snake Man mix I'm listening to isn't as bad as others.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman

I LOVED the SnakeMan mix on the Rockman Techno Arrange album.

Post by: ChaosVortex on 10 October 2009, 16:45:43
Oh, I mean this Snake Man mix isn't as bad as the others in THIS album.

That one is definitely cool.

If they want to mix up songs, don't do it in 8-bit.

Posted on:  3 October 2009, 17:57:27

Alright guys. Anybody have the actual MP3s to Chip Tuned Rockman (and MM9 Original Soundtrack while we're at it)?

MM9 music isn't on TMMN (because Capcom requested it off), and Capcom just filed a copyright claim to all Chip Tuned Rockman music on Youtube.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman

The album comes out on the 15th, the ones uploaded to youtube were from pre-release albums given out at some event. Gonna have to wait for Chip Tunes.

MM9 Original blah blah (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=qpvq7hbb)

Ohsnapz.

Posted on: October 14, 2009, 08:06:46 PM

Ugh. Listening to the Oil Man / Time Man mix, Oil Man's theme sounded like an RPG game's theme or something... it was slow and eh. Time Man's theme sounds good so far.

Posted on: October 14, 2009, 08:22:50 PM

Apparently no one wants to discuss this.

My favorite track out of all of them is the Fire Man mix, and I couldn't care less about the rest of them.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: ChaosVortex on 16 October 2009, 04:09:00
I'm too busy extracting the decent and good from the filthy garbage to discuss, so give me a minute.

Posted on: 16 October 2009, 03:21:40

I'm picking the ones I like out of these, and there are a lot of them that sound really good and make me think "Alright. I'll listen to this regularly."

But I still doubt and listen to the rest of it to make sure, and they just ruin it later in the track or make it really boring.

Interestingly enough, most of the tracks I'm choosing are 8-bit versions of themes that aren't 8-bit yet, because every 8-bit remix of already 8-bit songs sound worse than the original. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I would like Bright Man and Blizzard Man otherwise, but they just have something later on in the song that just irks me.

Posted on: 16 October 2009, 03:36:26

I like these out of them all. The rest are crud.

Oil Man & Time Man
Opening Stage (MM&B)
Ground Man
Tengu Man
Megawater S & Wily Tower 4
Wily Stage 2 (MM4)
Opening (MM3) & Snake Man
Bubble Man
Fire Man

I like pretty much 80% of all of these themes. Sure, I don't recognize a bunch of them but they all sound good, IMO.

My favourites would be Oil Man & Time Man's themes and Slash Man's theme.

Title: Re: Chip Tuned Rockman
Post by: ChaosVortex on 28 November 2009, 02:29:48
I cannot stand Slash Man's and the ending with Time Man's theme gets a tad annoying, but it's okay.
