Yeah, X8 is pretty cool. I think my biggest complaint with it was probably the slightly sloppy control and general "meh" feel of the game. It isn't horrible, though, and Axl is actually fun to play as in that one.

I can ignore it in anime for the most part because sometimes I just genuinely like the subject material.
I'm not sure there's anything that can stand on the art alone with the exception of a few movies like Akira and a handful of the cartoon shows.
--- EDIT
Not that anyone will probably see this, but Piranha 3D. So much blood, so much cheese and so much fun. This is the perfect horror/gore more for someone who hates spring breakers as much as I do. It also has Christopher Lloyd.

I just finished reading the rest of the comic because people won't shut up at me about it. I guess I am just too old to be in range to think it's really all that great.
I suppose what got me so worked up about this is that it is really not as great as so many people say it is. At least it's not in my eyes. That, and all of the shoving it in my face people have been doing.

Oh, it is like Powerpuff girls. Then you realize some of these characters are supposed to be fairly old and there is zero distinction between children and adults, aside from some people being bigger. It's cookie cutter, and it gives me a headache just looking at it. That's not to say I don't like simplistic styles like the PPG, but at least that shows some variety.
As for Majikn's comment, I was mainly talking about the comic; I've not seen the movie and my comments about the movie are based on the trailer. And yeah, maybe it's inspired by games but the whole idea of it feels like a slap in the face because someone is literally lifting things I like and giving them to people who do not deserve them. In a form that does not deserve attention.
You know what, I don't think any of us are really going to come to some sort of consensus on this anyway, so let's just agree to disagree and drop it.

They're all stupid looking kids. Every last one of them.
Also, "gamer" is a word that does not mean what it meant when I used to call myself one. I don't see how SP is a part of gamer culture because it throws around a lot of references for no good reason. There is no need for it, and it does not make up for the story and writing being boring tripe. Or the art looking like #####.
The movie apparently has very little in the way of these references. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. I still don't know if I want to see it. Leaning no.
But I agree with Wind that the game looks cool. It's basically River City Ransom with sprites drawn by a narcissistic a-hole and really awesome music.

He's an ugly, retarded looking goofball with no talent. A dead squirrel in a brown paper bag has mote emote than Cera does.
(Actually, I just wanted an excuse to say that)

MM8 I could probably help make a guide for. You're right, though, the current internet is mostly large, synonymous sites like Facebook or larger pseudonymous sites that have been around for a while. I chalk it up to the internet itself being more accessible to idiots and people who aren't actually into computers that much. Small fansites like this are almost a thing of the past... and generally the more obscure something is, the less a chance of the forum still being around. For instance, there are no dedicated Grandia fan forums any more, and all of the sites are quite very dead. I would know. I was an admin at the last one. Still, it used to be much more active. Or much less dead.
@Chron: I thought dying was only used for the verb dye, but I wasn't sure. DHURR ARGENTINIAN KID IS ARGENTINIAN Ahem.
You're right. It should be dieing. That's a stupid looking word. OH NO I MADE A GRAMMATICAL MISTAKE HEAVEN FORBID NOBODY FREAK OUT ABOUT IT This is why I don't stay here all the time.

This still doesn't excuse you from the fact that you grew up watching Barney & Friends and Nick Jr. instead of Muppet Babies and Pee Wee's Playhouse.
I agree with you, anyway... albeit in a more toned-down manner.

Oh, nononono, they are a good school for a great many things. It's a HUGE school with really impersonal classes most of the way through, but they are a fine institution, don't get me wrong.
... it's just they are not a media/fine arts school.

*grumble grumble* Well, I probably won't go myself to specifically see it, but I also won't turn down going with my friends if they want to... not likely, but hey. All of this makes me want to try reading the comics again. I'm almost to the point where there is this little crack in the armor of my hatred.

Look at how uncanny valley that is! It's making me not want sex, and I am a goddamn H forum admin.
The funny thing is, this is the best UCF can probably do... whereas 85 miles away in Winter Park, Full Sail students make games that actually look something like games.

Yes, you get to go for the rest of your life. It's a lot shorter than it sounds. Back to the topic at hand: “This game will break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be. When fans finally get to see it, I believe they’ll envision their most far-out Mega Man dreams coming true.” Challenge the conventional wisdom? Wasn't that what they tried, I dunno, like six times already?

I highly doubt it'll do better than Inception, though. Inception was... more accessible. This is a VERY NARROWLY AIMED film targeted SPECIFICALLY for people of our generation who don't mind a silly movie like this.
It all makes sense now. Your generation. I knew all that Barney had to have some effect on you later.
