Hahaha, there are some truly awesome games that make good use of it, but you're right; the things done now can be even crazier. (unrelated: Check out the Japanese Castlevania III, even though they did extend the sound processing for that game).
I was listening to that feed earlier in the day; some of my favorite current chip artists were on. Good find, man.

... there are no jumps like that. Maybe if you're going weaponless there are some really tough ones, but there are no jumps where you have to abuse damage. A couple of tight timing jumps (like in Magma Man's stage, with the ladder above the spikes or something), but nothing super-precise.
But I do agree that it is cheap game design. If I want instant death traps and repetition I'll play IWTBTG.

Ah, I forgot to comment on the tune, as I listen to this, I can't help but think it would make a really nice tune for a waterway type of level. Like sluice caverns or something.
The composition is actually pretty nice, Fatso.

I beat MM9 within a few hours of getting it. It's all down to patterns and item abuse. A LOT of those disgusting jumps are actually really easy to make with the right items being used. This goes for every Classic Megaman game. Heck, the first game is the easiest in this respect after you get the Magnet Beam.
The one that gets me in 9 is the second room with lava beams in it in Wily's stage. Possibly the worst room in the whole game. I have it down with Rush now though.

Yeah, I tended to use each of them quite a lot.
Model F and L I didn't make much use of outside of needing them (and L was used more than F), but H and P? Yeah, I basically never touched model Zx after I got P.

I've yet to watch that. I don't think I ever will unless I can get a Rifftrax version of it. I didn't have to think hard to get that message, and I don't believe I was trying to. When I was ignoring the rest of it, I was still looking at stupid people panicking and getting slaughtered, because the gore and the nudity do nothing for me.
I could have interpreted it wrongly anyway, because I see your point. I've always seen the point of horror movies like this as to be blatantly over-the-top in order to frighten and disgust people. It didn't really occur to me that people simply enjoy watching slaughter. In the end I'm completely detached from the movie.
Well, if you were enjoying it and were really into the movie as a reality, that would be a problem. It's not something you can watch without distancing yourself from the world in the movie. In real life it is not cool to see so much bloodshed going on, nor is it easy to watch. With Piranha there's a real disjoint between reality and what's happening on screen, to the point where the "slaughter" is just ridiculous carnage done in increasingly silly ways. Yeah, it's disgusting, yeah it's probably frightening for some people aside from the cheap shots... but it's also just silly. I really don't think I can find the right word for this to make it sound nice... but... ... perhaps you are too prude for this kind of movie? I didn't say that it wasn't. I was more talking about what the movie creators must really think about their male audience to expect them to enjoy all the over-the-top nudity and gore (i.e. its sexism towards women works as a suggestion that I enjoy that). That's not something I can turn off, sadly. I'm not exactly fuming, but it's tiresome. When girls suggest to me that I might enjoy this movie when they didn't, I respond with attitude: "Oh, it's because I'm a guy, right? That's not getting old at all."
It's just one of the few things I feel really strongly about.
So what offends you most is not the content, but the idea that people think you should like the content because you're male. I can see that being annoying, but that's just how people are. Eh, that's enough on this for now.

Holy crap, Rez, you must HATE Zelda games where it may sometimes take you even longer to go through a room because you have to keep changing items in the menu every two seconds.
The live whatsit transformations take about the same time as that, and you don't even have to fiddle around with bottles!

See, you're caring too much about the plot and trying to pick out themes and messages from the movie. There aren't any. It's a movie about horrible people who, for the most part, deserve to die. You get to see that. Reading into the representation of characters would ruin your enjoyment.
The men (and women) are portrayed that way because it makes it more fun to see them get pulled apart by silly looking fish. (I can't be the only one who laughed when they showed up on screen the first time).
You're not supposed to like anyone but the police.
I get the feeling, Majikin, that this is just not your kind of movie because you're much too focused on morality. Which is OK, that's rare these days.
You're making a mistake in thinking the movie is only sexist towards men, though. It's sexist all around.

Hey, JC. Here's a fun game that has the possibility of giving you alcohol poisoning and making you shut up about your post-adolescence "hey look at me i can drink" and possibly put you out of my misery.
Play the first Mega Man. Every time you see a bullet fired from an enemy, take a drink.

4GB, John. Yes, the system may pull more out from available RAM for OS operations, but 32-bit operating systems and motherboards can support 4GB.
And your motherboard, TheOnly, determines how much RAM you can have in a single stick. Best to stick with 1GB sticks, even though they make 2GB and 4GB sticks.
The only concern with video cards should be what sort of PCI slots you have, and how much wattage you can use up with one.

So am I but room temp is still around 75F. When it's 55-60F here, it's beautiful, but it's also very humid for much of the year... and it's been worse this year than any other August is usually pretty dry, but the humidity has constantly been over 80% for quite some time now.
If things keep this hot I may never put pants on all winter. Shorts, yes. Pants, no.

Possible, but when you troubleshoot you always start with the most likely, easiest to fix and cheapest to fix.
In this case that's monitor > cables > software/driver/OS conflicts > card/connector > other hardware issues.
Without more information it's impossible for us to know anyway.

So... you replaced your hard drive (which has been warning you that failure is imminent, so that's not too bad I guess) to correct what was probably a monitor or video card issue?
Try fiddling with your monitor's settings. Which should be accessed from the screen's controls. This is not only the most simple solution, it's also free.
You could also try messing with your video settings to see if you can correct it, or you may need to check the cables.

I'm at a loss as to how I forgot about House. That is a good, good show. The Office is also OK... even if the US version is pretty dumb (aside from Dwight).
Actually, mentioning House reminds me that I should be watching more of the Black Adder DVD set I have.

Astute observation, Nova.
ASR. Neither of those shows seem to interest me in concept much. I think the Sopranos was no good, but then I am actually an Italian American and that show deals with a side of that I want nothing to do with. Perhaps you are not describing Mad Men well enough for me? As for Breaking Bad, the concept turns me off.
I think this may be a case where our tastes are radically different; you seem to like very artsy, well produced and intellectually stimulating shows. I'm sure they are that. I can appreciate things like that, but I am, in general, far more simplistic in my tastes.
Some of my favorite shows are Mystery Science Theater 3000, Everybody Loves Raymond, Columbo (which is more a series of movies), and Third Rock From the Sun. I'm one of those people who loves cheese and bad, not to complain about it... it amuses me. Thus why I like Monk fairly well, and Psych, even though it is basically Monk only more annoying.
My mother and sister have been watching a lot of NCIS, and if I get past the fact that I can't use my PS3 because of this, it is actually a fun show.
So I suppose a good thing to suggest to me would be in that mystery/crime genre. I like sci-fi, as well, but typically not TV shows.
When it comes to the sort of serious, slice-of-life dramas you like (and that is conjecture on my part), I'm hard to impress.
I'll admit I flew off the handle, and I apologize for it.

I have been so turned off by everything on television I couldn't begin to tell you what either of those shows are about.
Aside from Christina Hendricks screen time.
Wait. Monk. I've seen some Monk. Monk is funny. It's almost like Columbo, but not as good.

Ok, it's not my cup of tea. I still think it's a stupid idea for a show. I don't care how deep it dives into psychology, it's still based on a flawed premise and that will bother me too much to care about ANYTHING that could be good about it.
Also... Mad Men? Breaking Bad? Best things on television, you say.
Yeah, it's not safe to go back to watching television yet. Not for me.

When Working Designs was still around, they would do that with some games. The bonus pack that came with both Lunar games was the full thing that the Japanese got when they bought them... cloth maps, soundtracks and making of stuff. This was cool stuff.
That sort of thing just doesn't happen much these days.

This looks like the same zombie crap that every other zombie anything that has ever crawled its way onto television looked like.
Which is boring crap. I've seen this. Too many times. The idea of it is stupid and scientifically unsound in every respect; I can take the idea of zombies when it's played for fun in a game or like Zombieland. This looks like it's just drama and SERIOUS, and I know at some point they'll try to explain what happened, which is stupid, stupid, stupid.
Stupid. Stupid. STUPID.
